hello, i am new to this website, but have to be straightforward and say that i do not agree with most subjects and contents.

i am an active jehovah witness, but i am very lonely so i am looking for others with the "hope" or to speak to those that know someone that does.

it has been a long , hard road for me.

You indicate in your post that you would like to help people. I believe that something does not seem to be right with a annointed one posting here.( glad you did though). I think that you are the one that is looking for help. It seems strange to me that you feel that God has a special relationship with you, but you don't trust him to protect you from so called apostates. You won't even talk to these ones? It is always a good idea to hear all sides to things, and always be prepared to defend what you believe in, to anyone who asks. Unless you feel that some people are not worthy of you. You gave an answer to the post repliers that they should take up knitting or something, instead of being in this forum. Ive heard that reasoning before.Witnesses will always say, " if you want to leave ,leave, but why keep on talking about it all the time. Just get over it and do something else." Any religeon, including the watchtower has a big impact on who we are if we decide to follow it. I would say most cannot simply just walk away and never think about it again. It sounds like a pretty cold comment coming from an annointed one. I don't get it.

whenever a bad smell was drifting around at the assembly, we all sat there and said or did nothing. on the inside we were saying: holy crap, who just burned a mule in here, i bet its that guy down a couple rows, no wait, that sister over there looks pretty suspicious. Oh man thats wicked stuff. what'd that guy have for lunch??

in the april 1, 2002 issue of the watchtower, an article appears entitled "keep on serving jehovah with a steadfast heart".

paragraph 14 of this article states: "if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".

i am withholding comment on this statement, because i'd like to hear from any who would like to post a response.

You are 100% correct! In fact i believe charles russell said that a person who only read the bible and nothing else, would not have as much understanding as a person who read only the "studies in the scriptures" books and not a page of the bible itself.I think that idea still holds today. If I was allowed to come to my own conclusions by reading the bible, and be in good standing as a witness, I would be going to meetings now.

Hello Lotus,

I am a non active baptised witness. I have often wondered how a witness gets "that special feeling" that makes them want to partake.
How is your feelings different from someone who has left the witnesses and now goes to another church and has a heavenly hope?
If I fully understood this, It would be a very important point in defense of the witnesses having the truth I think. I currently do not
believe all they teach.

there has been much said about the watchtower saying that the end would come in 1975. i have never seen any evidence that the watchtower said the end would definitely come in 1975. if there was such evidence, there would certainly be little or no witnesses left today, i believe.

i do not believe that excuses the fact that they definitely put that idea in peoples heads.

i was 10 years old then.

I believe you missed the point of my post. Did you read all of it?
I said in my post that I was 10 years old in 1975, and that I probably wasn't paying much attention at the meetings. You said in your reply " you apparently were/ are just plain ill-informed or are too young to remembert it clearly."
If you had read my post you should have known that your comment was not necessary.
My grandparents were jw's , and I was raised a JW, so I have an excellent idea of what they are all about.
My point about the individual congregations was that the attitudes are very different in each one. I went to various congregations and found totally different atmospheres in each. Some treated me very kindly and warm, others were cold. I remember one i went too. I must have went there for over a year, and they never said anything to me. Cold as ice. I feel that those types of differences can also be applied to the understanding of what those watchtower articles were saying about 1975. I can see some congregations getting all excited and others that could care less. At any rate, Something should have been done by the society when they noticed a good number of followers believing that 1975 was going to be the end. By there taking no action and not denying anything, they basically DID say that 1975 was going to be the end.
Why did you question if I was ever a real JW?? as opposed to What? a fake one? I did not deny the date promotions as you suggested.

I was 10 years old then. I probably wasn't paying much attention at meetings. I asked my mom once if she thought that the general feeling at that time was that the end was definitly coming in 1975. She said of course not.

My question is, how many of you thought that the watchtower actually taught that the end was coming in 1975?

I have a feeling that each congregation probably made its own ideas up. The watchtower certainly should have taken notice of how some were believing this, and printed a article which absolutely cleared up the fact that this was only a guess that 1975 would be the end. (before 1975 of course). Instead the watchtower just let people keep right on believing this right up until that year.

Which religeon is correct ?

can anyone name a religeon that is the correct one?.

my personal criteria would be: shouldnt celebrate holidays/ only study the bible, not publications with someones personal ideas/ people won't worry about dressing in exactly a particular manner, welcoming others personal thoughts on the interpretation of scripture even if it differs from others/ not demand money for membership.. any religeons like this?

realization

i just realized this today.

i started doubting the witnesses teachings about 16 years ago.

being raised a witness made it difficult to believe that this was not the truth.

I started doubting the witnesses teachings about 16 years ago. Being raised a witness made it difficult to believe that this was not the truth. I still cannot seem to get off the fence.I havent gone to meetings in a long time. I used to read the bible quite a bit, but not so much now.

My realization? that satan has me where he wants me.

Life is not always so easy.

Oh well, maybe someday some idea will jump up and slap me in the face and all will be well. Or maybe I will go to my grave many years from now feeling the same way I do today. I gotta believe that would not be a good thing.

Anybody else in this situation ?
