At what age do you plan to retire?
by JH inso many people start working young in life, and expect to retire around 58 years old.
some even retire much before that.
but so many witnesses never expected to reach that age in this system.

The most romantic act ever done for you?
by zenpunk inwell valentine's day is almost here...but the most romantic thing my husband ever did for me came a few days earlier - on my birthday.. this is the very first birthday i am openly celebrating since leaving so he took me to my favorite restaurant sat.
night.
as we were walking in, i said, "someday i would love a big birthday party with all my family" (sans jw parents of course).

Don't let the pop-culture of beer commercials and Vogue magazines blind your heart as to one's physical appearance. Look inside of the individual, you'll see it far surpasses the taste of ones eyes. It's wear the "real gold" lay.
I could not have said it better myself.

Listening To The Answer To Your Prayers
by MaudeW ini've always been curious about this.
i'm an ex-jw with serious god issues but enough about me.
in all the years i was a witness, i was always taught the proper way to pray.

Gopher, I I have not really been regular for about 10 years now. But I think that you are probably right about the having things programmed into our heads that we need to get cleared out. I think some things will always stay with me though. Thanks for your encouraging thoughts.

Hello MaudeW, I am currently wondering if God hears my prayers, because I never hear any reply or answer. I sometimes wonder if he even exists. I am currently inactive, But as a witness, I never heard any reply either. I try so hard sometimes to get God to listen and reply. "just give me a sign" or something. Nothing works. My other thought is, Maybe God hates me as I am now and will not even hear me. Maybe I am just a terrible person that Jehovah wants nothing to do with.

I would check your phone book for attorneys that offer first consultation free. Explain your situation. It never hurts to at least make some calls.

THEY SEARCH FOR EVERLASTING LIFE IN THE SCRIPTURE
by nightwarrior inwho is standing behind you ,are you listening or just searching.
a man and woman were searching deeply into the scriptures trying to find everlasting life, they wanted it so badly ,this gift from god, jesus was standing behind them, pointing the way to everlasting life, he gave them clear concise words and directions but they wouldnot listen to him there heads were locked into the scriptures, jesus was now standing right in front of them, speaking to them very clearly.
please look up and look around you as your life depends on what you dont see, please show love to your fellow man,as without these qualitys you will not receive my blessings.that you are searching for.

what do you think dear ,lets ask an elder ?????ok mr elder can we approach jehovah through jesus without the organization
So many witnesses cannot really think for themselves completely. That is what drew them to the watchtower in the first place. The society had ALL the answers.

Very draining conversation.

It's what is in a person's heart, deep within him, that God will search and examine.
Exactly! I believe this too.
I really try to be patient with her, and I never raise my voice or speak in an angry tone, it's always respectfull,
Thats the best way to handle things, I feel. Nothing much good ever comes from yelling or getting very upset. Your mom may be thinking about what you say, more than you realize.
Currently I am sidestepping my mom ( witness) when she brings up the religeon topic with me( raised witness, but not active). But I know that there will come a time, maybe soon when we will have a deep discussion again. Take care, And I hope all goes well with you and your mom.

FARTING IN THE KINGDOM HALL.
by nightwarrior ini was lead to beleive that cleanlinness was next to godliness, that jehovah is a clean god, .
as we as a family sat down behind ( being the operative word ) a couple of elderly sisters ,arriving late we took the only seats available, even then we caused disruption as we even i were fighting over the seats as to where one would sit ,sure enough i allways seemed to end up in the firing line of these elderly fat arsed sisters, whom allways ended up farting in your face, the smell was so strong that you could actualy taste the stench it in the air 10 minutes later,i allways felt sick ,my children grinning .
how did you cope yourself

my parents used heavy shame based discipline, as well as the physical stuff.

I hope all goes well with you and finding yourself. I think it is a neverending process for everyone. Like going to school until we die. We can never learn or understand it all.

Being excommunicated:
by Pepper inbeing excommunicated: .
as a witnesss unless you have been excommunicated you cannot possibly imagine what it is like upon your self-image and esteem not to mention the destructive affects on your family life.
then again to many jehovahs witnesss they longingly want to return to those who inflected this punishment on them, out of any number or reasons.
