Joanna, How about confronting your mom about how you felt about her attitude? Sometimes if things are brought out into the open, it is a good thing. I would definitely tell her that you heard her with the phone off the hook. You gotta give the advantage to yourself right of way

i am very stressed, my boss has left, thus i am in charge.
i had little to no sleep and was very cranky that i was left to blow up 200 balloons by myself.. on the phone is my mother.

by ConnieLynn inlast night i called to do the "check-in" thing on my mom.
she had just been to the assembly and she was all fired up and decided to give me an earful.
apparently, at the assembly all in attendance were told that "this is it" the end is nigh and they should do all they can to prepare for the impending destruction about to befall everyone.

garyb, None of my business, but I would find it hard to describe any witness as being lazy. I mean with going out in service and all the meetings, It would seem the lazy thing to do would be to stay home. Do you feel it's possible that when people are witnesses for many ,many years, that it becomes easy to do what is required?

If it was my mom, I would say, " Did you really say that it doesent matter if they are right or if armegeddon comes? If you really believe this , then please, don't find fault with me for deciding not to be a witness. Please don't ask me to believe something that might not be true."
With your moms reasoning, anything goes. You could believe in anything that suits your fancy, and just keep believing it no matter what. If you asked your mom " what if a person that was catholic told me it didnt matter if catholics were right or not. I will just keep believing in the pope. How would I witness to this person, mom??"

reborn, I know it sounds like we would be justified in taking it. But I feel it would bring us down to their level. By reading your insightful comments on other threads, I figure your better than that. Although, I have already let things go, like getting too much change back at the grocery store , or not getting charged enough . I figure it make things even when they overcharge me at another time. NWT. Question

the jw's believe that something is only true if there are two witnesses.. the question is... why do the jw's belive that the nwt is a 'true translation' when there is only one witness to it.

searcher, I once wondered why we don't know who are the writers of the NWT. Was told these individuals do not want any credit for the translation. It seems to me that they are also avoiding any scrutiny. Other translations allow there writers to be investigated as to their credentials.
Anyway, I think at least Fred Franz was a part of this committee. What education does he have?
At a slide presentation on a Sunday, The narrator brother was one that traveled all over the world. This man showed a slide of all the governing body. He then asked, Who here know who these people are? Silence........ It re-inforced to me that most witnesses don't even know who's running the show. SYN, I carried the microphone and operated the sound system for a while. I always thought I was helping out with the duties that go along with operating a kingdom hall. One time a friend of mine told me that I could not do the microphones that night because I wasn't dressed properly. I forgot. Was it no suit coat? Something petty like that. It was then I realized that I was not helping with the chores, But that it was a so called " privelage" . I could never figure that out. I felt bad after that. I never felt like carrying the miocrophones again. musky

You Know, Based on your reasoning, one would have to assume then that there are other people who are not related to the watchtower that are preaching about God and Christ. If it were not for a caring christian, I would have probably never questioned the watchtowers teachings. Just accepted what I was told. I believe that in other parts of the world there are caring christian people who teach others about God and Christ. Being that there are posters from all over the world here, Maybe they can post some examples of preaching in there area. musky

You Know, Regarding your statement regarding the criminal. I believe you are placing the watchtower on the same level as Jesus Christ. You are assuming that God uses the watchtower today, As he used his own son while on the earth. YoursChelbie has simply stated that the criminal did not belong to any organization at the time , when Christ said he would be with him in paradise. Do you have proof that Jehovah uses the Watchtower in the same way he used his own son while on the earth? Musky
