God needs money, lots of it! - George Carlin
Apparently the all-knowing, all-powerful, genius creator of the Universe is bad at managing money. And so he needs your donations.
...even though it has a massive button on the home page saying "make a donation.".

there are really only a couple of reasons an active elder would be lurking here on jwn.. .
[if !supportlists]i. your ever growing doubts about the organization have led you here, or.

prologos, great reference to Ezekiel. Will they even bother to look it up? Probably not. And if they do, I wonder if they will get it?
sulla, that's a sadly apropos thought. A few years ago I was telling a non-JW friend (yes I have some) about my experience being DF'd and cut-off from my family. He used that exact line.
jehovahs witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?.
today i added a new article to my blog sharing information from a 1983 study published in the journal for the scientific study of religion addressing religious affiliation and psychiatric diagnoses.
this article pulls information from an excellent academic study that is often misunderstood and therefore underutilized for its value.
So Marvin, who is the author of this letter?
It's not of much use if you can't identify the source. It's no different than the WTBTS's habit of writing articles that reference "an expert," or some unnamed "authority" on whatever subject.
Also, do you have the "submission" that the author references in his letter?
Is that available?

today's watchtower made out that the combining of branch offices around the world is a loving provision from jehovah to streamline the production, but i had to ask an elder afterwards, even though i already knew the answer.... "if the wts is selling off bethels and brooklyn property and cutting the publishing costs and commitments, then where is all that money going?".
elder replies, "well the donations are just not coming in anymore and so they have to sell off property to stay afloat.".
gee, i thought if this was jehovah's approved organisation carrying vital truth to the world, then he'd be making sure the donations would be sufficient.
I doubt whether that elder actually knows what he is talking about. He just probably pulled that factoid out of his ass.
On a related point, I've always thought it is rather telling that the WTBTS requires individual congregations to read their Account Reports regularly to that congregation, but they do not set the example with transparency regarding their handling of the organization's finances.
Just one more example of hypocrisy.
ok so we have all be jws so that isn't unusual.
supply pictures if you can.. i have ridden an elephant.
ok so it was at the zoo but it was still an elephant.
There are many more stories I could share, but if I told you I'd be outing myself.

my husband and i and our children having been left the jws for 5 years now, for me it was how we were treated, the lies elders told about us and the blood issue that really opened my eyes and while all this was happening, my parents watched, supported and even sympathised with us,they said they understood our decision and even though it sadden them we were leaving, they understood.
they have never shunned us and we have a really good relationship with them.. what i don't understand is how they can still stay and play happy families with the people who caused us so much pain and anxiety, without the transfusion my eldest had, she would be dead, it truely was a life saver, why did they not question the religion that was quite happy to let her die for it.. i think the problem for me is that when i was at home, we never really talked, any problems were just glossed over , in fact i don't think i have ever had an indepth jw talk with my parents about how i felt about being a witness which makes it so hard to tell them what i've learnt now, i haven't a clue where to start.. for my husband it seemed quite easy for him to have discussions with his mum and step dad as he never had the same closeness that i had with my parents when growing up even though we were raised in witness families, but then it dawned on me that we never really spoke indepth about anything much so how do i start now?.
so i'm asking for any advice anyone can give, if you have any suggestions i would love to hear from you..
free and happy: I think the problem for me is that when I was at home, we never really talked, any problems were just glossed over , in fact I don't think I have ever had an indepth jw talk with my parents about how I felt about being a witness
Welcome!
Sadly, this is typical in any dysfunctional relationship and is a hallmark of the codependent variety: you don't talk about the elephant in the room.
I am glad you and your husband and children have gotten out together. The fact that you can even talk to your parents at all is a bonus. That is not the experience of most that leave the organization.

i've just finished putting together an article that attempts to articulate the frustrations faced by those like me in the "apostate" community who are increasingly frustrated by the watchtower's use of dirty tricks in its fight against them.. http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/secrecy-and-deception-watchtower-fights-dirty-in-its-war-against-apostates.
ordinary witnesses are unaware that the watchtower is not fighting apostates on a level playing field.
i highlight three key areas in which this is so.... 1. the huge disparity in how information is presented (i.e.
Great points in your article.
The Society's older publications are their worst nightmare. Any wonder their ON-LINE Library only goes back to 2000?
In yet another typically deceptive move on the part of the WTBTS, they recently encouraged their readers to study the early history of the "earthly organization."
What they don't acknowledge is that this "history" is in fact a highly-sanitized, misleadingly worded revisionist version which they present. For some examples, see these recent threads:

Cedars,
Looks like a good read!
Here's another recommendation for the WT Apologists:
i thought i might take a few minutes to sit down with the members here and have a cup of coffee with you, and introduce myself and my daughter debbie (petra), and i am john posting as (vulcan).
now i can't type worth anything so thats why i have petra do it.-we would like to thank mr. simon for his hospitality and if it is easier for us to post using the login atlantis uses, then that is ok!
there are 4 of us here using the same computer and it might be easier that way to keep track.
Welcome to JWN!
Awesome hair braiding Petra!
