17), and have yet to do so fully.. "modern christians held in nazi concentration camps with possible death facing them were given repeated opportunities to gain their freedom by signing a declaration renouncing jehovah.".
was the declaration to renounce jehovah?

Even if you question the accuracy of the translation the point remains: There is no reference to God or Jehovah in it!
"Modern Christians held in Nazi concentration camps with possible death facing them were given repeated opportunities to gain their freedom by signing a declaration renouncing Jehovah." - w2013 1/15, p. 11, para. 17
So the comment in the WT study for last week was wrong in that it said those in Nazi camps were pressured to renounce their faith in God.

From the Proclaimer's book, p. 661.
In all the ways that matter.

Thank you for posting this thread. I wondered the same thing.
You're absolutely right, there is a big difference between renouncing one's religion and renouncing Jehovah.
I'm thinking the Third Reich didn't particularly care if someone wanted to worship Yehovah. But they certainly didn't like the Bibelforscher.
Does anyone have a scan of the declaration and an English translation?
Seems like more WT revisionist history.

caleb sees some brightly-colored lollies.. caleb's mom tells him they're not buying candy today.. caleb puts down the lollies, sulking.. caleb thinks about stealing just one lolly, but remembers his dad's words at family study, that if he steals he won't be jehovah's friend.. caleb puts back the lolly smiling, and runs along.. .
hardly a gripping plot.
Here's an updated version for the WTBTS:

They should learn from Goofus & Gallant:
i can't be certain but i found yesterdays public talk to be interesting.
it was on salvation.
the speaker read many scriptures from the bible and didn't mention anything about the organization being necessary for salvation, just jehovah and jesus.. i actually walked out feeling like i had learned something.. perhaps, he wasn't of the conscious class but in the very least he gave a nice non brainwashed message.. does anyone else think they have heard a conscious class talk given from the platform?.
I gave talks like that the last 4 or 5 years I was an elder.
Everyone loved 'em. No one EVER questioned anything I said, or for that matter what I didn't say.
As long as you don't say anything overtly "apostate" their gonna' hear what they want to hear.
i have not been going to the meetings for just over nine months and was wondering what to say when an elder asked am i coming back.
if i say no will i get df'd?
we have not gotton any phonecalls or visits but a text message asking if we are coming back.
LL: We have not gotton any phonecalls or visits but a text message asking if we are coming back.
Way to shepherd the flock of God!
If that's all they're doing I would suggest just ignoring it for now. Probably the elder that did that doesn't really want to talk to you and sent the text message so he can tell his fellow elders at their next elders' meeting that he has tried to contact you.
Being MIA is not (at least yet) a DF'ing offense.
Probably in time they'll begin to forget about you ... "Brother Label-who?"
