Eight men, there are 8 men on the Governing Body. Other than that she's got it!
Apparently your wife didn't "see" the recent "New Light" about the new GB member, Mark Sanderson:
Mark Sanderson confirmed as new Governing Body member
Here's a thought, ask her how many of these guys she can name.
That should be interesting!

Orangeburg Assembly Hall - designed to be sold as a future supermarket?
by cedars ini've just been watching a youtube video that reveals the new assembly hall in orangeburg, sc.. two things struck me when watching it.... firstly, everything is attributed to jehovah, right down to deciding the location where the hall is to be built.
"we examined over 300 properties," said one interviewee, "we were reminded that jehovah knew where the site was, we just had to keep looking and show him that we were persistent.
" other workers interviewed throughout the video attribute everything to god, as though it is impossible to build anything without divine direction.. here is the video.... .

Has a wrong disfellowshipping ever been reversed?
by lostnotfound inim not talking about simply being reinstated.
i remember hearing a story about a brother that was disfellowshipped because of the testimony of two false witnesses.
years passed before they admitted to lying about the brother and was reinstated.. what is policy in this sort of situation?

Flipper, thank you for sharing your story with lostnotfound. I'm sure that it will mean a lot to them.
LNF, as a newbie here there's no way you'd know this, but that's like the bazillionth time Mr. Flipper has told his story here. And I'm sure it won't be the last.
I think it's important you know that every time he tells it, he types it out fresh. This isn't some "copy and paste" tirade. This is the real deal. I know. I've been here for two years now and I've read Flipper's account countless times. He always tells it fresh. I've talked to him on the phone I don't know how many times. This man is the real deal.
Mr. Flipper has become a good friend of mine and many others here on JWN. He is always willing to do whatever it takes to help someone struggling to find their way out of this mess. When he tells you what he's gone through, he is only telling you for one reason: He knows your struggle is similar and he wants you to know you're not alone.
The organization we once thought represented God and Jesus are nothing but frauds. This is a profoundly mind-shaking revelation.
You will need time to process this. But you can get through it just as we have.

Mr. Flipper's DF wasn't exactly reversed because they never DF'd him correctly to begin with. It's an interesting tale, another account of wannabe cops & lawyers needlessly messing up people's lives by meddling where they don't belong.
Barbara Anderson knows of some, but for good reasons will only speak of them in general terms ... something about having friends in high places ...

Your individual, personal conscience doesn't matter, the GB has already decided on everything for you.
All you need to do is:
"Listen, Obey and Be Blessed!"

Mind Reading and Reinstatement - Part 1
by RayPublisher ini've published a new article on my blog about the agony that people go through in seeking reinstatement.
part one includes a personal experience of one that crawled throught this field of glass in order to be able to regain a relationship with a close friend that is asleep in the jw movement.. part two will have a transcript (and accompanying audio on my youtube channel) from a sister that recorded her entire reinstatement hearing, including what the elders said about her after she was dismissed from the room while they deliberated.. here's a peek at the article on jwstruggle:.
.. .. .. there are likely a number of you on jwnet that have "been there and back again" and gone through it.. what was the hardest thing about getting reinstated?.

Scientologists break up families! Does this sound familiar?
by 00DAD ini just watched a 2008 nbc nightline special on scientology.
in it, there was an interview with ex-scientologist and former seaorg member astra woodcraft.. among other very interesting statements, she made this telling comment about scientology: .
"if they would just let people who wanted to be there, be there.
-
00DAD
flipper, yeah, Scientologist are JWs on Steriods is right. I'm reading a book, Inside Scientology, by Janet Reitman. It's a great expose. I wish she'd write a similar on on JWs. It's interesting to read their tactics and practices. You're right, they are not as subtle. But that just makes it easier to see how bad JW beliefs are. Slightly less than completely evil is still ... completely evil!
Gayle, interesting comments about the "Ex-Scientologist kids.com" website. I don't know if you checked it out. Most of the members are adults that were raised as Scientologists.
Since my children were raised as JWs the impact of your statement really hit home:
Kids growing up in a cult involves much more of their personality/psyche, than adult converts. Adults may have a 'base' of their real self, however, children in a cult don't get/have that base. To find that within themselves, takes more unraveling. It's going to be much more emotional and excruiating.
I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how I can reach them and undo all the damage that has been done to them as a result of being raised a JW. I feel tremendous guilt for teaching them these beliefs. Recently I had this not too wonderful revelation in reference to being shunned by my own children
I understand that they are just acting according to their beliefs, beliefs which I taught them.
Apparently I was better at teaching beliefs than I was at teaching love. For that I am sorry.
Gojira_101, as someone raised a JW I really appreciate your comments. As I mentioned to Gayle above, I am trying to figure out how I can help reach my own children and undo the damage done. I'd welcome any and all suggestions you are willing to share. This is really important for myself and no doubt countless others, both parents and children.
Balaamsass, please share your findings. I'm sure we'll all find it enlightening.

What happens when a legally married....?
by sosoconfused inlesbian couple that has a child decides that they want to be one of jehovahs witnesses?
really think about this for a second.. what will they do then.. option 1: will they tell them that they have to get a divorce and ignore the scriptural counsel of jehovah hating a divorcing?
will they say that it was never valid anyway in the eyes of jehovah?

cantleave, Interesting you say that. I actually was so weirded out by his obsession with the subject that I thought something similar.
Of course, being the Good-Little-Elder that I was I kept my thoughts to myself, until now that is.
The guy's a freak, clearly.

Well, hypothetically it's an interesting question. I've just got two replies:
The GB hates lesbians even more than male homosexuals. I don't know why, but I know they do. I was at an elder school where Sam Herd spent about 45 minutes railing against lesbians as the worst kind of sinners possible. It was more than a little weird. He clearly had some sort of freakish obsession with the subject.
Secondly, what Quendi said. They should have nothing to do with JWs. In fact, NO ONE should have anything to do with them.
End of discussion!
