Heaven: These guys are like the Dementors from Harry Potter. They suck the life out of people.
They are by definition PARASITES.

psyc: so how have you come to this conclusion about being what you call a faithful slave of jesus christ?.
morris: well you see jesus gave a parable that about this slave and we members of the governing body have strong evidence that we are that slave and that the parable in matthew 24 about the slave is prophetic and it refers to us.. psy: but that is just a parable, how do you know it is prophetic?.
morris: well first you need faith in jehovah before before i can even begin to explain to you how it all works.
Jesus, the Prince of Peace, (Isaiah 9:6,7) is going to come with a sword and kill roughly 8 billion people because they didn't follow 8 men in Brooklyn, New York; men mind you that can't figure out what the word "generation" means and were wrong about their own prophetic identity for the last 93 years.
God loves you, and that is why he is going to kill you if you don't listen to, obey and be blessed by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Understand?
Tiktaalik, let us know when it's noon there so we can all start drinking!
here is what got my spidey senses tingling: paragraph 16, reference to daniel p mannix book, was wondering if his statement was mis-quoted so i did my research.......but was even more shocked when i saw this: .
from amazon dot com reviews................ probably the most provocative work of historical fiction published this century,"those who are about to die" is pure mannix at his best.
a uncensured exploration of what likely took place in the circuses of ancient rome.
Lied2NoMore: Isn't it nice to have open and free dialogue without fear of WT labeling any of us apostate and DF-ing us?
Yes it is nice " to have open and free dialogue without fear," but the WT would most definitely label us as apostates if they knew.
Lied2NoMore: ... why is WT using a book like this when they would condemn anyone who went to see "Gladiator" or "Passion of the Christ" ...?
Because the rules don't apply to them, only everyone else.
Lied2NoMore: ... they just think no one will question anything they say or do.
Yes. That is exactly what they think, that is of course no one except us "apostates."
And later on a New Night will be Dusking!
I'm beginning to notice a pattern here ...

What IS the meaning of your baptism? To whom do you belong?
The book, WHAT DOES THE BIBLE Really TEACH ? explains it this way:
Remember, too, that you have made a dedication to Jehovah God himself, not to a work, a cause, other humans, or an organization. Your dedication and baptism are the beginning of a very close friendship with God—an intimate relationship with him. —Psalm 25:14. - p. 183, para. 24 - [Emphasis added]
This is from Chapter 18, "Baptism and Your Relationship with God," under the subheading, "The Meaning of Your Baptism." This book was first published in 2005. I personally checked the 2013 edition online and it still says this.
Now isn't that interesting? Our dedication is to God. It is explicitly stated that it is NOT to "a work, a cause, other humans or an organization."

besty: might be worth using a surprised version of this in similar fishing expeditions
Agreed.
And I meant to add: In the Real World, if one party breaks the terms of a contract it generally becomes null and void. The other party is no longer bound to the contract. As far as I'm concerned, the GB has repeatedly violated the terms of what I agreed to in our "association" and therefore I am not obliged to follow their direction.
They have clearly demonstrated that they do not know where they're going.

GO: Do you believe the Governing Body are Jesus's FDS?
00DAD: How would I know? They didn't even know for the last 93 years! Besides, this "New-Light" hasn't been printed in the WT yet, so maybe it's just a rumor!

Ok, while the jury is still out on the accuracy of Mr. Mannix account of early Christians in reference to the "pinch of salt" test, I think we can all agree that his book is clearly NOT a scholarly work.
The WTBTS quote mines whenever and wherever it suits their needs and tweaks those quotes for the same self-serving purpose. A couple of weeks ago they quoted a "professor" and failed to mention that he is a theologian.

Baptismal Questions, from the June 1, 1985 Watchtower:
(1) On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
(2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?
There is absolutely nothing about any "Governing Body" or a "Faithful and Discreet Slave" anywhere in there!
Also, (and I know that WT Legal has made assertions to the contrary, but) "in association with" is in no way the same as "in submission to." It just isn't.
The WTBTS consistently tries to assert that baptism vows say things that they do not. It's a religious shell-game.
Also, since they want to be so friggin' business-like in their approach to worship, where do they get off spinning this as some sort of unilateral contract which they can change at whim, but the rest of us are bound for all eternity to be obedient to a group of bumbling leaders that can't even figure out what the word "generation" means and were wrong about their own "prophetic" identity for the last 93 years?
It really is ridiculous!
