  A modest proposal: A national Do Not Call list

  greetings to the readership:.

  there have been reports over time that each kingdom hall keeps a "do not call" list of addresses.

  these are addresses in the congregation's territory where, for one reason or another, the jws in the field service are advised not to make calls.

  On the lighter side, get Farkel's latest Field Service antic's into a tract for distribution.

  The tower/circle/slash is a good idea. TM it, for real. A trademark can include already TM'd material w/ proper modification and recognition of 'prior art', I believe.

  File lawsuit or not?

  when i moved my family after leaving the jehoagies schmitnesses, i changed my phone number, and made sure it was unlisted.

  little did i know that i would soon be receiving a call out of the blue from a jw.. now, this was a woman that i had worked with at one time and we were pretty good friends, so a few years later, when she called, i was kind of glad to hear from her.

  the problem was, how did she get my phone number.

  Properly done, they are called LAWYER'S LETTERS. There is a strict protocol on this. You could write them yourself, with the right research. I've done this (you CAN fight City Hall).

  Include sending this to any state regulatory agency for that person's industry. Expand that to some of the Federal agencies, as well.

  Can you spell H-O-R-N-E-T-'-S N-E-S-T?

  SKIMMER,

  Some thoughts on that include a Lawyer's Letter that would be a specific Revocation of the Right of Easement. Another clause would extend the doctrine of 'Right of Quiet Enjoyment'. Such formal statements could put some teeth into that Do Not Call list. It would add to the gated community syndrome. While one is writing the letter, demand to know the Clergy Malpractice carriers for the local beehive.

  Moving on

  i saw a recent post of someone leaving the board so they can move on.

  it's been years for me and i actually have never come to a board like this until recently.

  i'm just curious, how is everybody doing in that regard?

  April is supposed to be a month to visit 'inactive ones'. I'm a little surprised that they didn't make it March to warm up the Memorial attendance. This was in the cards, as long as they still know where to contact you. Don't read any extra into that.

  you begin to sign and then you see that the number of pints of blood to be taken is empty.

  PS "USE A PUN, GO TO JAIL" is a play on words. Probably local though; there was a law passed here once on the slogan "USE A GUN, GO TO JAIL'.

  Frenchy,

  Dead on. Jesus regained life, albeit in another form. This is a definite case of apples and oranges. So, the analogy is quite flawed, but it's so subtle that it wins a tear-jerking point.

  What is needed is for enough people to remember this situation to bust that logic in the chops whenever it rears it's head.

  On the lighter side: kudos to the cuckoo's nesters. But remember,
  STOP THE PUNISHMENT. USE A PUN, GO TO JAIL.

  Tonight's memorial - did you go?

  my wife has just left for the memorial.. just before she went she asked me to come...this was the second year in a row that i declined.

  i hated seeing her so sad, i almost agreed to go just to cheer her up but that would betray her in a very real sense.

  to go to the memorial would be an admission in her eyes (and other jws) that i still believe deep down that it is the truth.

  Dang, I'm slighted, too.

  I didn't get the letter in the mail about Feb. that has come for the last 2 years. Neither did my brother. It's been coming from a fellow that I used to study w/ when I was a pioneer. He fondly remmebers those days (30+ years ago) and reminds me of the old times.

  But, he sounds like a real Fundy Bible thumper. (I know about them; our 2nd KH shared a lane with a Pentecostal Church. We used to slip out on warm evenings to watch them through their open windows! Yes, they did get 'the spirit'!!!)

  He hangs around w/ my Daddy Dearest, these days. Those two are a real pair of IN YOUR FACE Dubs. They are 'Get to the Hall, do the right thing, do more, time is short' or else JW's for all its worth.

  The complaints against Dad finally got deep enough that they busted him from MS. The Elders had a discussion w/ Dad's disciple along the way. He met my brother, by coincidence and said 'no more letters'.

  i found some interesting statistics, some of which you may know, that indicate that the wtbts is in decline.. 1. in the twenty years from 1970 to 1990, the rate of yearly increase dropped from 10% to 6%.

  in the last 10 years it has dropped from 6% to about 2%.

  since the world population growth is about 1.5% they are only growing at about 1/2 of 1% faster than the population.. 2. in 1999, there were 21 large countries that showed a decline.

  only slightly newer than you.

  Somebody mentioned France persecuting all non-Catholics. Seems like some things never change. That's how my family got to the NEW WORLD 250 years ago!!!

  Thanks to whoever pointed out that Logical beat a hasty retreat, taking his comments with him. What a performance!!! I thought something was wrong w/ my web connection or such, at first. I would
  have liked to see the comments, as their absence made holes in the continuity of the thoughts.

  this is sort of a connected subject to englishman's prior post.

  it's a difficult subject, so i'm sorry if it upsets anyone.

  but it's been on my mind for a few weeks.. i'm sure that for all of us wt "survivors" (thanks for that term, esmeralda), the idea of our funeral being used as a propagandistic sales pitch for the wt is repugnant.. but, for those of us whose family are still jw's, it's a very real possibility.

  Good thoughts, ZZ,

  That is especially so on the Law Library. Again, this varies from state-state, country-country, but some places will try to exclude you from a Law Library. This might hold if it is a private library.
  But in the U.S. state that I am in, you can't be excluded from one if public money was spent on it. I've seen the specific statute on that one. You'll have to check that locally.

  Again, check, check, check ad nauseum. Get the data, then decide.
