  Help - elder just called!

  hi guys, an elder who just moved into my local (slack) cong just called to find out how i was going spiritually!

  i haven't been to meetings for a year and no one else has ever cared, even though i was aux pio'ing at the time i stopped.

  he is coming over with his wife one day, he said.

  Smell a rat? You betcha!!! (said it and meant it) Sometimes elders & others are sent where things are lax & slack. (Got a friend that had half of Brooklyn move in on his wooded lot.)

  So it looks like the start of a campaign; you probably aren’t the only one. Do all the depression, question w/ question, vague stuff. DEE-definitely.

  Don’t let him lead the conversation, unless you’re doing the silent depression typoid.

  Also, be real busy with the ‘cares of the world’. Talk about all your problems, like ‘get out & help me’. You could top it off with asking for a loan. I don’t think this one gets enough mileage.

  On the other hand, Eyebrow has a good and diplomatic approach.

  for those of you who haven`t been following it,the wts is in a downward spiral here in japan.fs hours are down,memorial attendance.

  is down,pioneers are down,studies are down,donations are down,number.

  of congregations is down and the number of publishers continues to.

  I worked on a project w/ IBM which involved their Japanese division. The American liaison representative told me about enough about their (Japanese) practices to show that they are in charge on their soil. They can be downright nasty and don’t cross them!!!

  So, WTS has got a rogue division. I’m happy for them.

  I thought as much when they were advocating active community participation such as PTA involvement. I didn’t think that came from NY. So it is a home grown solution. Damn, the WTS has met up w/ someone who will think for themselves and has balls!!!

  Electronic "Fun"!!!

  no, you perverts, this thread is not about sex toys!.

  all of us have probably experienced sitting in the kh listening to some boring talk when all the sudden the sound system picks up a shortwave, cb, police, ambulance, other type radio transmission.. do we have any electronics experts here that can explain how/why this occurred; what types of stray signals sound systems are most susceptible to pick up; can filters be used to prevent such; etc., etc.. can you imagine the "fun" one could have by driving slowly by your local kh during the public talk, and blasting the sound system with: "if you want the real truth about jws, call 1-800-why-1914.".

  of course, i'm sure this violates some fcc reg, but if you only did it once a month at different meetings, you likely would never be id'ed.. bored and ornery.

  Hi MA,

  Your guess is wrong. I'm not a Ham. The reason I said what I did was that I am technically required by law to do so, having held the COMMERCIAL Licenses in order to earn my living by doing electronics work. If I engage in that service in the future, I have discharged my obligation.

  BTW, the penalties for such violations were '10 years or 10,000' as the old industry saying went. It's gone up.

  I definitely had something like this happen to the sound system I worked on at an assembly. It was only a poor connection in an old amplifier we were using in the cafteria. The local radio station
  started coming in, quite clearly.

  MA, I won't offer any tips. FCC codes & my ol' license require me to caution you on this. Purposeful interference is a felony, violating the Communciations Act of 1934. It was ammended in the 80's, I believe, but that didn't change.

  MA,

  We call it "Audio Rectification", usually. A strong signal overloads the 'front end' of the audio system. It 'detects' the RF (radio frequency') & that becomes audio, which replaces what the amp normally should reproduce.

  I've also seen it w/ poor or corroded connections.

  Could be fun, yes; it is illegal if you do it purposely.

  OK, guys,

  What we have here is the PUBLIC NOTICE listings of who has what communications stations licensees, as required by law.

  The Federal Communications Commission is the regulatory body for the United States of America for all communications matters, private, public, commercial or non-commercial, wired or wireless.

  File Number and Action Date are self explanatory. I took these items out of the sample for column width reasons.

  The Call Sign is the Station Identification assigned by the FCC upon granting the license.

  The Applicant Name is the owner of the radio station or equipment. (I abbreviated it so that the line would not wrap over onto the next line.)

  The Purpose code, RO, indicates Renewal Only.

  The Action code, G, indicates that the license renewal was Granted.

  These are RADIO SERVICES, as allowed by law for the furtherance of any
  business. Note that other business's use these, also. Neither Georgia Power nor Pacific Bell are microwave businesses. Both are utilities; one is a power utility and the other is a telephone service provider. PacBell does lots of microwave 'common carrier' communications, however.

  Wireless Telecommunications Bureau refers to an agency that regulates wireless communications of a radiotelephone nature. These communications are over the 'airwaves' and not by conducted cable or waveguide.

  Site-By-Site Action refers to the type of report this is, one listing hundreds of radio site applications, nationwide.

  In short, some WTS office somewhere, has some trucks with radios, probably for dispatcher to delivery personnel communications. No great shakes, here.

  I personally have held a FCC General Class Commercial Radiotelephone Operators License (originally a '2nd Phone' ticket) and have operated a Radio Repair business working on microwave radios under contract to a major telephone company.
