Let's Say Some POSITIVE Things About The Organization Or Being a JW

since we're accused by some of being so negative about jehovah's witnesses, let's start a thread regarding some positive things about being a witness or believing in the organization.

i attended my, ehm i think the english word is lie in state (the action of going to a room in which a person who died lies and you can say goodbye with only close relatives, like a few days for the funeral) of my grandfather who recently died and something peculiar happened.. just before we left from my grandmothers house, my cousin who is dfd showed up.

i decided to drive with my sister and brother-in-law to the place and my sister was really upset that he came over and was also going to the 'lie in state'.

Yes, that HAS been the rule for ages. However, many do go OVERBOARD and go straight for the maximum penalties with the least provocation.

The JW’s certainly aren’t consistent, even with their own precious rules of men. So, you can observe two equally "active" JW’s doing two completely different actions in regard to their relatives.

Of course, they aren’t penalized for this excess of judgmental reaction.

They may also be erring on the side of caution, as they won’t be reproved for this act of Inhumanity. In fact, they may be approved in the eyes of others for such indecency.

As mentioned, "things change". There is much reaction and anecdotal evidence that the whole reaction to relatives and those inactive may be "tightening up" to a worse end. This is possibly happening as we speak; a WT article could make ANY contact unavailable, at any time.

in 2001 when houston was flooded, thousands of jw volunteers turned up to help fellow jws and a few non-witnesses benefited as well.. in 2002 when mount nyirangongo in goma, congo erupted jws sent aid that helped both jws and non-jws alike.. http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm?content=humanitarian.htm .

and according to the feb. 15, 2003 watchtower, under the heading "life in a refugee camp" material assistance has been given to everyone in these camps in tanzania.

I vaguely remember reading one of the single paragraph "Watching The World" blurbs in the back of the Awake and seeing this. Then it was mentioned by all, even from the platform. The late 60's seems to be the right time frame.

Send this info to the US STATE DEPARTMENT. A freight forwarder I know who deals with foreigners all the time does this; they have specific instructions (after investigating one of these) to do that.

Anyone wanting passport info in this fashion is up to something criminal. (If they aren't assuming it will protect you and SCREW THEM). Passports are worth $$$$$$. Don't help a forger.

These matters are NOT LEGITIMATE; people have lost money AND THEIR LIVES over this. There is an industry of this sort of thing in some African countries.
