i have been hitting a brick wall trying to pry my boyfriend away from this stuff.
it just makes me cry that it's so obvious to me how wrong it is, and he's not even batting an eyelash.
he knows about all of the scandals, all of the false prophecies, the coverup of sexual predators, that elders tell abuse victims to stay with their spouses, that they dishonestly use sources, and he just doesn't care.
The most useful book I've found is, Approaching Jehovah's Witnesses in Love: How to Witness Effectively Without Arguing by Wilbur Lingle
I agree with others, since he's dating you AND he's been to your church it doesn't seem like his actions are matching his rhetoric.

i believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..
I've found it's impossible to engage a JW in a disscussion about the religion because he doesn't seem to know what his own religion even is. Any question they can't answer (which is most) is met with the response, "What's your motive?" My motive is a conversation about your religion! Isn't that why you're here?
My favorite JW statement to me: "I don't know. We're just goin' by faith."

They could very well be strange visitors from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond that of mortal man and who, disguised as mild-mannered farmers, working from dawn to dusk, are trying to turn us all into framers so they can take us back to their home planet!

Back to topic #2... I live in Amishland and I once saw some JWs preaching to some Amish in their front yard across the road. It was TOO WEIRD! When they left I'm sure the Amish just shook their heads and said, "Ah, poor "worldies".
And on topic #1 considering the earth is going to be COMPLETELY DESTROYED means the WTS can't even get it's prime recruiting tool (Paradise Earth) to agree with the Bible. 2 Peter 3:12 (NWT) awaiting and keeping close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah, through which [the] heavens being on fire will be dissolved and [the] elements being intensely hot will melt! 13 But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.
Not sure how you're going to grow a garden in melted elements. And just 3 sentences later...

it is strong word but i do hate them ... for the first time in my life i have this feeling so strong.
today i was talking to my mom and she went on about how leaving the wt was the worst decision on ive ever made and how embarrased and hurt she was about my behavior (not going to meetings) i am loosing my relationship with my mom and the more i grow apart from the jw the more i will loose her , it is just sad .....
Can I recommend putting that anger to work? Read Hassan's "Releasing the Bonds" and maybe someday you can BOTH talk about how much you hate the GB. Anything's possible! Good luck.
i know every year it seems to come earlier and eariler............ yet must admit ......... this week on my 3 am ride to work i'm listening to x-mas songs on the radio instead of zeppelin................. and smiling............... tis the season............. and haven't had turkey yet!!!

julian started his freshman year at jenison high school this year.
he has played trumpet in their highly awarded band programs since 6th grade.
he was going to go home to live with his mother, when he changed his mind and begged to stay and participate in their marching band.. jenison marching band is widely recognized and has won many awards over the years.

I've taught H.S. band in Indiana for 18 years. I watched all your videos so tell Julilan he did a great job! The trumpets sounded great. Great balance, articulations, etc and a very difficult show. I'm sure he's looking forward to 3 more years of fun with his band friends. They're the best kids in any school to have as a peer group. You are very fortunate to have Mr. Zamborsky & Mr. York as well as the rest of your staff . They put in countless hours that no one ever knows about.

Harold Camping (May 21st nut in California) was a great witnessing gift this summer. Easy to get a JW to readily admit that guy is a false prophet and then show them the WT's own list of false prophesies and ask, "What's the difference?".
I like Sizemilk's idea of making a list of "End of the World" predictors and just include the WTS as one of the many; nothing special. Something like this could work with JWs & nonJWs alike. Also, "End of the World" is a term recognized better by nonJWs.
i mean door to door (sort of), not informally to non-witness friends and family!.
so for a few weeks, i have suspected that my neighbor across the hall was being studied with by witnesses.
i wasn't sure but saw a couple of older women leaving with what looked like bibles, but never saw watchtower literature.

I teach H.S. and after school I see a JW kid talking with another kid in my class. They're leaning over looking at something so, I snoop. You guessed it, WT literature. I recognized the 1950s style crappy artwork immediately. After they were done the JW left the room first & as the other student was walking out I said, "Susie, can I talk to you for a minute?" Even though this was their first encounter she had already been told by the JW, "Everything that's written about us on the internet is a lie." I carefully informed her of the real truth.

After I emailed it in I couldn't get any response. Finally, I emailed the editor and she said, "Due to the contraversial nature of the ad, we refuse
to run it." I was not happy. They can ruin people's lives in our community but warning people about it ahead of time is "contraversial"!
