I think it's all intentionally convoluted so that 99% of all JWs go, "Ahh forget it. I can't figure it out, so I'll just keep sitting thru the meetings so Jah won't off me."

Questions Regarding the New Light on the FDS
by Ding init's my understanding that the old light regarding the faithful and discreet slave was that in 1918-1919 jesus appointed the faithful and discreet slave over all his house.. but under the new light, it's a two-stage process.. now the "truth" is that in 1919 jesus appointed the governing body to provide spiritual food in due season and the gb will only be placed in authority over his domestics during the great tribulation.. all of this is wt nonsense, but in order to get jws who believe this stuff to think about the implications, my questions are:.
1. what will the future appointment authorize the governing body to do that is not yet authorized?.
2. since under the old light the governing body has wrongly believed they have had this authority since 1919, doesn't this mean they have been wrongly exercising authority that jesus hasn't yet given them?.

Sabastious - Unfortunately, this will never happen. The Watchtower operates on the logic that no external entity, incorporated or not, has the right to alter the inner workings or functionality of a corporate entity.
It has already happened. The work of people like Barbara Anderson and victims that sue the religion has led to ongoing changes to the process for child abuse. Without these people, the 2 witness rule would still relate to a single event.
The Watchtower will either fall or change, it cannot continue throughout this century as it is for many reasons. A concerted effort at education will speed up this process.

True. Like any living entity the WT only basically wants one thing... to survive. It has no moral principles to live by so whatever it needs to do to survive, it will do; be that control people, ruin families, kill children, or even change it's own policies. Example: for some stupid reason it thought joining the UN would help it survive even though that meant contradicting everything they "believed" in. If the public begins to view it as a vicious cult that destroys families then no one will join it. Exposing this cult might not get current JWs to leave, but can prevent new ones from joining. "An ounce of prevention."
Go AAWA!

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

I can't even imagine the number of HOURS & HOURS of work Paul put into that website. It is THE go-to site for exactly what it's called, "facts". Three cheers for Mr. Grundy are not nearly enough.
THANK YOU!!!

Great post Lady Lee. Getting JWs out is part of it, but I read the Mission Statement as mainly getting the WT to stop destroying lives and the best way to do this is to expose it. (A great way to kill mold is sunlight & fresh air.) AAWA is unabashedly AGAINST the WT's policies of ruining people. The WT is 100% wrong & this Organization has got away with it Scott-free for too long.
Scientology is falling apart mainly because the media has finally learned what it really is. Could you imagine seeing the WT on the cover of TIME magazine someday? EXPOSE THIS CULT.

Have You Been Lied To?

It would be interesting to have a blood pressure monitor on me before, during, and after reading anything written by the WT.
Thank you Cha Ching for reminded us why it's called Association of ANTI-WATCHTOWER Activists.

Imagine what we could produce if we were able to allocate budgets to video-making,
and produce sleek infomercials as Watchtower has started doing?
Imagine an actual national TV commercial add campaign! Yes, this would cost a small fortune but, 99% of humanity has NO CLUE what the WT is.
I always get, "What's the problem? They're just nice people."

w11 8/15 pp 3-5 :
Do not become an “Internet Eve.” Be critical and suspicious of the information. Before trusting it, ask: (1) Who published this material? What are the author’s credentials? (2) Why was this published? What motivated the writer? Is there any bias? (3) Where did the author get the information? Does he supply sources that can be checked? (4) Is the information current?
The irony is, if the Witnesses applied this same technique to ANYTHING the WT has written, the WT failsmiserably.

Powerfully written Oubliette.
"...those leaders view the religion not as a robust man of truth able to take on all comers, but rather a sickly little boy who can’t be allowed on the playground because his brittle bones would be dashed to pieces."
You're quite a word-smith!
