In a subsequent email exchange, Lee sent this email to Simon...

This proves the reason why Lee proposed locking the thread - because there had been an unspoken rule on JWN that threads could be locked at the request of whoever started them - which in this case was me.

This explains why Lee did what she did, because she was trying to second-guess Simon's ever-changing moderating policies.

And I don't blame her for telling everyone that I asked for the thread to be locked - because as President I suppose I did.

But hopefully even those fiercest skeptics among you will see that I did not manipulate Lee over this. Rather, Lee was bullied into giving an incomplete explanation, and was as much a victim of Simon's constant mood-swings as I now seem to be.

After receiving this email I had a discussion with the board. I convinced them that the name had to remain unchanged, at least for now. I also recommended that we take up Lee's proposal to close the thread. The board agreed.

I therefore made a few closing remarks and Lee closed the thread.

Simon then re-opened it and quizzed Lee on why she had closed it.

Lee got flustered under Simon's pressure and told him that I had told her to close it. While true, surely you can all see from the above email that this is only a fraction of the story.

But Simon wanted answers and I don't blame Lee for making her explanation concise.

To provide some background, the thread in question was started by me on April 3rd after I received emailed consent from Simon (at Lee's suggestion) to promote AAWA on his site.

Though initially very positive, the thread quickly dissolved into a fierce debate, not about AAWA's mission or objectives, but about its name - which had already been legally registered. Simon was among those leading the protests, rather unkindly I might add.

I and other board members at the time despaired that, rather than greeting our attempts to do something about Watchtower, people were feeling offended at not being involved in AAWA's start-up process and were already venting their frustration over something relatively trivial that could be changed at a later date.

On the 6th my wife and I went away for a day by ourselves. I was extremely stressed and the AAWA video alone had taken me weeks to complete. When I returned, I found this email in my inbox...

Now you're sliding into silliness again. This isn't a revenge thing. Lee and I remain good friends. I've already told you - she is fine with people seeing the emails.

Of course, an apology from you would be much easier for all concerned.

No, you think you have evidence but as I've said already, you just have evidence that makes Lady Lee look bad. But you don't mind doing that do you. Like you just forwarded her emails to me as though I care or don't believe she said what she said?

Lee doesn't look bad in the emails at all. A little naive perhaps, but that's no crime. We've talked about it and she is fine with what I have forwarded you. If anyone comes off looking like a thug and a bully from the whole thing, particularly the way it has been brazenly misrepresented, it is you.

You obviously won't be happy until you've had your moment of glory so feel free to post your "damning evidence". I'll be sat cowering under the table weeping and gnashing my teeth crying "oh no, Cedars has declared his wrath upon me and wreaks his vengence".

This for me perfectly sums up how needlessly confrontational you are about everything. Why can't you just apologise and admit you got the wrong end of the stick? Why does it need to be Simon versus Cedars? For some reason, you cannot stand to be around strong personalities on here and you insist on being the alpha male. That's the only way I can explain it.

Of course, if you could bring yourself to climb down and admit you got the wrong end of the stick over the whole AAWA thing (which you did), your conciliatory attempts would be reciprocated. Otherwise, by all means go ahead and ban me if voicing an opinion contrary to yours is now against JWN's posting guidelines.
