Excellent story. And one that's so typical nowdays. The 'net THANG' as JT likes to call it is/has fundamentally changed things for the better. Years ago people in your situation would have NEVER had the opportunity to see the info you have now been exposed to - yet now here it is laid in front of you, freely and easily accesable. No wonder the WTBTS is quvering in their boots about the 'net THANG'.
There are so many people now that see the man behind the curtain in this wizard of oz story - I wonder what it would take for all these JWs who are in it soley to 'not rock the boat' to sudenly say to one another - "I will continue to associate with you regardless of your 'standing' as a JW". I bet half of them would leave overnight. And the other half would be forced to choose - shun half their friends and family or accept them for who they are ... what a wonderful dream

Disassociating==shunning...yes or no???
by sadiejive ini have had several here tell me that if try to disassociate yourself from the org that you will be subject to shunning.
is this true?.
i discussed this issue with the witnesses with whom i study.

You should get a ton of replies on this one but the long and short of it is - if you are announced from the platform as having DA(disassociated) yourself you WILL be shunned by all JWs - provided they know you are DA'd. If he says otherwise he is flat out lying to you. They view it the same as a person being DF(disfellowshipped). In all practicle purposes and actions, DA and DF are one and the same, the only difference being WHO initiates the 'leaving'
DA = YOU left
DF = THEY kick you outAnd to top it off, more JWs will shun to a large degree people even viewed as 'weak', maybe not to the point of ignoring a person as they do a DF/DA one, but they will go out of their way to avoid them.

Poll: Successful Reactivations by Elders?
by Room 215 inhi all,.
all my experience is that once a jw begins to question the organization, a irreversible progression sets in that leads inexorably to a total disaffection with the organization that no amount of ``shepherding'' can change.. so my question to you all is: can we document one single case in which a disgruntled ex-jw was successfully reactivated/restored to loyal dubdom?
(my impression is that the efficacy of elders' ``shepherding calls'' is a myth, a total waste of time).

That's about all I could see happening, is people returning for family/freinds. In those cases I would bet they only go enough to 'get back in' then slack off. Slackers get away with it MUCH easier now than in the past since 99% of JWs are slackers now anyway.

WTS BUSTED AGAIN OVER TAX SUBSIDIES FOR CONVENTION
by MadApostate ini am pulling this out of the "subject" thread so more folks can see:.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=16702&site=3.
big thanks to those activists who worked behind the scenes to get this story published.. this is not one of the locations that i'm personally involved with, but one where others of like mind took the bull by the horns.

This is rediculous and abhorant. I would be PISSED if I was a land-owner in those cities and MY tax dollars were funding a religous event. And for hotels and motels to have to PAY to have JWs come in is lower than low. I wish all the cities country wide would tell the WTBTS to fuck off. I wonder if 'new light' would then be announced that we no longer need conventions ...
And don't you know the 'brothers' will STILL be doing the typical Sunday AM bitch and moan session about the 'shortfall' of donations to 'cover the expenses'. What a crock of shit!
These things are popping up everywhere. Is it because the WTBTS just started trying this stuff, or is it the public becoming less tolerant of it?

Good news!
by mindfield inhi there... as you probably knew (not), i'm no longer a publisher.
however, my brother, even though he never was, and only 14 years old, stills clings to the borg.
or so i thought.. you see, only recently we went to a restaurant, and while me, my brother and 13 year old cousin were eating some good grub, our discussions fell upon *gasp* the jw's.

I agree - I think that the vast majority of young people in fact do not give two licks about the 'religous' aspects of JW-dom. They give it little to no thought and only attend meetings/FS due to family and freinds - and the fact that they know no other way of life.
The bad thing about this is, if they 'leave' due to the fact that they want to do 'bad' things, or out of simple lack of interest, the religion WILL pull them back in if they do not replace it w/ something else, or at least learn the 'truth about the truth'. And this only gives more fuel to the 'there's nothing out in the world for you' argument than when a 'wayward' youth returns to the org (lots of times due to wanting their family/freinds back).
Now is the time to plant the seeds in your brother and freinds minds that JWs are indeed full of crap. While they are yet open to it. Even if they don't care at this point.

Doesn't this simply reflect normal life's conversations? I mean, we have serious conversations with others - but for the most part our days are filled with 'fluff' discussions, etc. Really, how much 'serious' matters can you really discuss. Most things have been hashed over a hundred times already. So I see no difference here than a normal group of people hanging out in a coffee shop. mostly fluff, occasional 'biggies'.

Now this is funny!
So it's not 1975 this time, this time we mean it, things are SO bad it's really over. We think. I mean, if we keep up making dates one of them HAS to be close eventually right?
So I guess I'll wait until 2006 or so to start running up the credit cards
Oh, and BTW, if you're hiding from Jesus Christ, don't hide under the bed or in the closet, that's the first place he looks!

the truly final days
Would that be the truly, really we mean it this time, last of the last of the end of time days? Or just the previous last days of the end of time? I need to know, cause I got to plan a couple of trips and stuff. Plus if this is the end of the last last truely last days, I want to run up a few credit card debts, take out lots of loans, stop making my house payments, etc. Let me know - thanks!
