i have a question: i am happily faded but i recently got the desire to talk to an elder of my old congregation.
the problem is that he doesn't know i am faded (i kinda disappeared from jw archives while moving to college), and that i do not want to get into trouble by this.
in Dependency Court, most of our cases are abuse cases even JW cases come through here. It is always made known that they are JW but never any other religion. Does anyone have any thoughts on that.
Maybe just being the fact that you are more attuned to JW since that is how you were raised. All religions and high control groups are facing 'the music' over this child abuse problem now. The Catholics are by far the most 'famous' for it, but Mormons, JWs, Moonies, etc, etc are all being taken to task right now for abuse.
Any time you put humans in positions of ultimate athority (see Preists, elders, etc) then you foster an amtmosphere that allows abuse to happen, and allows that abuse to be covered up. The common theme amoung all these groups/religions is that they wanted to 'handle the matter internally' and not involve 'outsiders'. Well, it's time for that to stop. The Catholic Chruch is just about to be taken down a notch, and I suspect the other religions will follow shortly after that.
This is the same atmosphere that allows elders 'authority' to control every aspect of a normal JWs life. If an Elder tells you to say the sky is green, you'd better start saying the sky is green. Cause if you don't you are spitting in Jehovah's face according to their logic.
my active jw wife just asked me to install the new cd rom watchtower library on her computer.
i was reading the licencing agreement and it stated that it was for jehovahs witnesses only and not for the general public.. why would that be do you suppose?
i mean if this is such important info wouldn't they want to distribute it as much as possible?

I heard about the child abuse accusations and I believe that they are true. But, what I don't believe is that the Society advises the Elders and Overseers to cover these matters up.
Alan covered this very well above, but I'll repeat - they do ideed advise cover ups. Bill Bowen has on tape, the WTBTS legal dept telling him to 'not get himself in a jam' and to 'wait on Jehovah' when he asked what to do about a person who was accused of molesting a child. Not once did they even mention reporting the accusation. Just to sweep it under the rug.

beats yorkshire anyday.... anyway thought i would share this little account with you.. as most are of you are aware, the alarm code for about 90% of kingdom halls is 1914 (nineteen fourteen).. i t seems though that for the last 8 or 9 quick builds or refurbs in the uk, the brother who installed the numbers into the alarm control panel used the numbers 1975 and explained the number as one nine seven five not the the easier version (ninteen seventy five).. trivial joke or honest mistake, either way this poor brother has been rumbled and has to to meet with 2 elders investigating on behalf of a body of elders to see whether an apostasy charge will be brought.. he is supposed to be meeting with them over the next few days.. .

Two of the halls I went to had the 1914 code. Gladly for JWs NOBODY wants to break into a KH, since they might as well leave them unlocked - any person loosely associated w/ JWs will 'get' the alarm code.
when i was quite young, (about 8 years old) and i was told about the abel being favoured by god, cain getting jealous and killing abel story, i couldn't help but wonder why god was so hard on cain.
i am certainly not condoning cain killing his brother, but since god made both the animals that abel was offering and the veggies that cain was offering, why was cain looked down on?.
also, why did it seem better to god to kill an animal that abel offered, as opposed to thinking, well at least cain is only wasting some food.
It's simple really. God likes death, killing, and blood. Lots of blood. The more blood flowing down the alter the better. And don't you puny humans think of drinking that blood, it's God's Blood (TM) .
Cain grew carrots. God doesn't like carrots. He can see just fine, and doesn't need to eat carrots. Besides, carrots don't bleed.

Met, I faked the last year or so I spent 'in' too. It was SO much easier that way, though I usually waited for Bro 'pester you for time' to call before I turned in my fake time. Funny thing was, I always thought, surely they know that this is a total BS FS report! They didn't seem to care though. Not as long as I made up some #'s to report.
Min, I don't think that the WTBTS has to fake/fudge the reports. The people 'in the field' do it for them. The Joe Publisher who does like I did above, the elders who call around every month to extract #'s from Joe Pub, and the C.O.s who pester the elders to pester Joe Pub for a better FS report. (Though I guess now it's each BS conductors who pester Joe Pub for his FS report)

Saying that dear bro abuser is not allowed to go in FS alone is a fine thing to claim, but everyone who has ever been a JW knows that that is a flat out lie. Anyone can go out in FS alone at anytime. What do they expect us to beleive that the elders state out bro abuser and follow him around?
