  What will happen to the children?

  many question jehovah on what will happen with the children during armageddon.

  i don't know that answer entirely so i'll wait and see what happens.

  Jehovah is not allowing time for everyone on earth to become a JW, just the sheep-like.

  Fine, but more 'sheep like' ones are being born everyday, faster then you can preach to them. Or are you going to say that at some point no more 'new' people who are 'sheep like' will be born? Ludicrous. My point stands, if there was a god who really cared, he would either have ended this long ago, or put a 'birth freeze' on the world so that you poor little over worked JWs could get around to seeing everyone.

  A Salute to the Kids of Dubdom

  as the unfortunate school-age children of jws worldwide, or at least in christendom, face up to two of what must certainly be the most dreaded days of the school year -- today and monday, i don't think it would be remiss to do pay them tribute -- the honor of a brief recognition of some sort, say by the raising of a glass, a prayer, a couple moments' reflection, whatever.. i refer to all those of the trembling knees, quivering lips, moistened eyes and hollow feelings in the pits of their little tummies as they loyally face up to the humiliation of standing aside from the masses of christmas celebrants among their school friends.

  how they must agonize over dealing with the incessant questions of their mates about ``what are you going to do this christmas," ``what did santa bring you?

  '' -- not to mention listening to the spirited banter of their school friends recounting how much fun they had and what they found under tree christmas morning, etc.

  Paul, that's funny, I had the same things happen to me. I think the poor teachers were just trying to include me in on something so I wouldn't be left out. And to my little child brain it made perfect sense, I mean what's really wrong with coloring a tree (for instance)? Of course, we know the answer is 'nothing' but I usually got reamed for those 'infractions' anyway ...

  Ah the wonderful childhood memories of dub-dom.

  1984 = 80 years after 1914 = one generation. Of course, that's 'old light' now and we know, we know, the JW never said that. Whatever.

  2000 = "A work to be completed before the end of this century" - in reference to the preaching work, meaning the preaching work is over, you JWs just haven't gotton the memo yet.

  By the way, if god were so loving, and allowing time for everyone on earth to become a JW, then explain why the worlds population is gorwing so much faster than the JW can preach to it. At the rate you guys are going the work will never be complete, so god should have ended it long ago. This waiting around crap is counter-productive. God's not very effecient I guess. The more babies born into crappy conditions is that many more children that have to suffer for no reason (no reason if there were a god that really cared about them).

  Sorry yoyoyoyoyoyo, I could care less about whatever the inqusition being set upon her was for. I can read a good novel if I want sex/murder/lies/whatever. I'll leave people personal affairs to themselves if that the way they want it.

  This board is not for gossip, though that's done to an extent, the main point here is for discussion, which is NOT gossip.

  as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

  since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

  i had previously asked a question about demons and after visiting the sites and reading the posts suggested by larc, i am disturbed.

  jw really believe all that stuff about vacumes, teapots, and other household iteams.

  I quite understand the feelings you're having. It is a natural desire to be a part of something and the JWs make things look very appealing on the surface. But you have already scratched below the surface and seen the ugly underside. It's sad there has to be an ugly underside. I would hope that this lady would remain your friend even if you decide not to become a JW

  The elders are scary though. They seem very very VERY unapproachable. Seems like if they said jump everyone would say how high.

  Boy have you nailed it. You'd better not only ask how high but how many times too.

  You say this is the first exposure you've had to bible study - well you owe it to yourself to investigate other religions too. Don't take ANY religion's surface explinations either. Do your own digging.

  I look at religions like clubs - they might look like a nice group of people to get in with, but you'd better check out what the bylaws are. Otherwise you might get a surprise. The one nice thing about most religions though is that in most religions you can leave and they won't shun you.
