"GOD SPEAKS"
by Will Power inthere is a book called "god speaks".
it is a compilation of billboards that were put up around the usa.
in 1998 an anonymous donor wanted an ad agency - smith - in fla. $150,00 to create this advertising campaign to reach people who have "drifted".. it's a great coffee table book.. here's a few of my favourites.. (hope its ok to post these).

no blood cards this year!
by DIM inlast night at meeting they told us to just use our blood cards from last year.
in the past they've always told us how important it was to get it signed every year so that people could see our current views as jw's.....doesn't this new arangement negate everything they've ever said in regards to this?
absolutely nuts!.

One word, the word that the WTBTS lives and dies by the past few years .... "LAWSUIT". All they do now is governed by what their legal liability might or might not be. Something's afoot in the USA.

Wow Jourles - how exactly did he phrase that re: the thinking for oneself?!? That's dangerous ground to speak from the platform, especially regrading the recent WT study article about not harboring private ideas!!! Any wonder JW's are mentall unbalanced - being pulled in 2 or 10 different directions at all times!

I thought that was amusing as well Xena. Another case of ineffcient/lazy reporting by the Afake mag.
BTW, has anyone ever told you you were hot?

To Norm: Nazi camp numbers
by TheOldHippie ini just post this as a new one, as perhaps you are too busy to keep track of replies to older threads of yours:.
i think most of the dissimilarities /"problems" as to the concentration camps figures you give, or more correctly, the watchtower literature gives, is due to the perspective from which it is seen, what the articles are really about.
when you quote from the 1974 yearbook, that article deals with the history of the german witnesses.

"it's not like the Watch Tower Society is anal or really cares that much about numbers"

Not anal about numbers .... hehe

At Which Table Are You Feeding?
by YoYoMama inat which table are you feeding?.
you cannot be partaking of the table of jehovah and the table of demons.1 corinthians 10:21.. these inspired words of the apostle paul show that two figurative tables are set before mankind.
each table is identified by the kind of symbolic food placed upon it, and all of us are eating at one or the other.

A Salute to the Kids of Dubdom
by Room 215 inas the unfortunate school-age children of jws worldwide, or at least in christendom, face up to two of what must certainly be the most dreaded days of the school year -- today and monday, i don't think it would be remiss to do pay them tribute -- the honor of a brief recognition of some sort, say by the raising of a glass, a prayer, a couple moments' reflection, whatever.. i refer to all those of the trembling knees, quivering lips, moistened eyes and hollow feelings in the pits of their little tummies as they loyally face up to the humiliation of standing aside from the masses of christmas celebrants among their school friends.
how they must agonize over dealing with the incessant questions of their mates about ``what are you going to do this christmas," ``what did santa bring you?
'' -- not to mention listening to the spirited banter of their school friends recounting how much fun they had and what they found under tree christmas morning, etc.

Yes, I do talk without knowing the whole story - of course, because you've never told it. I still say, if times were so tough, things would have/could have been better had not your parents resources (time and money) been pored into the black whole that is the WTBTS. For example, maybe night school instead of meetings? I'm not trying to say what he should have done, but just saying what he could have done had he not been shackled by the parasite of the WTBTS. If your family came to the US you know better than most how true it is that this is 'the land of opportunity'. You have the drive and intelligence here and you CAN have a decent life.

Will this hurt?

Polly, certainly there's no need for you to feel as if you 'have' to share this info with this board, though of course if you want to we'll be happy to listen. The yoyos of this board don't deserve to demand it from you. BTW, your story sounds like oh so many others here. The lies, gossip and quick judgements are quite typical in the JW world. How dare you think for yourself!
You have a golden opportunity to go forward from this and better yourself, enjoy a chance for a better education, being with people YOU like, not just because they are 'approved' association.

Maybe if your parents had quit taking so much time spending their money and time selling books for the WTBTS they could have gotton an education and a better job so that they could put better clothes on your back. BTW, what country has K-Marts but bans JWs? Better come up with a better story than that!
