As I understand it there is
1.no rule
2.self rule
3.man's rule There are many kinds
4.God's rule
I'm sure God's rule takes into acount the other three.

among them are hymenaeus and philetus, 18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.. how were they saying the resurrection had taken place?

It is my opinion that conditions must be right for a resurrection. If the conditions are never right there will never be a resurrection.
I had an interesting conversation with an uber dub that got quite heated. I said to her "you will teach Daniel the ways of the Watchtower? What if he disagrees with you?"

Jesus had died and gone to heaven all who put faith in him were assued a resurrection so His will was a done deal?
Right! We are talking about Earth. Earth needs to sustain many more people than it does. And everyone who lives under God's rule must want to live under God's rule. I think most people don't want to. That is a problem. It seems like Hymenaeus and Philetus and the Watchtower have overlooked that. :(

I think they were saying the resurrection to Earth in the future was a done deal. And if the resurrection was acomplished, what good would anyone's works of faith accomplish?
So yes, the Watchtower teaches that way of Hymenaeus and Philetus but for a different reason. In other words they were encouraging the people to put too much expectation in God's will on Earth accomplished. So when we pray "You're will be done" it is empty if God's will is done. We are God's fellow workers to get it accomplished. Does anyone else see the difference? Please say yes.

my crazy brainwashed parents have devoted their lives to this cult, to the detriment of their children.
i recently told my mum that i needed to stop anything jw because of the anxiety and depression it has caused me for over 30 years.
she said 'oh well if thats what you have to do... but you know armaggedon is just around the corner and jehovah expects us to toe the line... faith without works is dead.'.
God is a spirit John 4:24
Are you listening to the Spirit of God or are you trusting men to listen for you?
What is the faith that we must keep alive?
Trust in God not in men. Luke 7:6
6 Now Jesus started on His way with them; and when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to come under my roof; 7 for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 “For I also am a man placed under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” 9 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that was following Him, “I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.” 10 When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.
Why do people who obey "do not lean on your own understanding" look for men to lean on their understanding? Proverbs 3:5,6
an evil malignant narcissist:.

evil persons are characterized not so much by the magnitude of their sins, but by their consistency (of destructiveness)is unable to think from the viewpoint of their victim (scapegoat)has a covert intolerance to criticism and other forms of narcissistic injurymost evil people realize the evil deep within themselves but are unable to tolerate the pain of introspection or admit to themselves that they are evil.
My answer is yes. This point stands out to me as very true.
Evil persons are characterized not so much by the magnitude of their sins, but by their consistency
They are being consistent in believing a lie. The lie being the world is saved through men. Even if that is the only sin they commit it is enough to spoil their faith in God's promise.
Personified the WBTS matches the description of men in the last days at 2 Timothy 3:1-7
how do you explain david's graphic portrayal of jesus' death by crucifixion (psalm 22) 1000 years before christ lived?.
how do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) old testament prophecies were fulfilled in jesus christ?.
in what sense was jesus a "good man" if he was lying in his claim to be god?.
I am not offended one bit by your questions Perry. I hear you've been asking for a long time. Good for you for hanging in there!

I have imagined science and faith married. I understand the faith of Abraham to mean men on Earth forever. I am disgusted with religious people that seem to teach that everlasting life is a guarrantee for putting faith in Christ. Christ came so the world might be saved through him. That is how I understand it. It does not say Christ came to take people out of the world, does it?
If mankind can find the way to live in peace with love (any thinking person must know that security is not real except WITH God) they will find the way to sustain Earth FOREVER with intelligent life FOREVER then the resurrection.
growing up and jw and being around them all my life i constantly heard the expression "a relasionship with god".
this always confused me, because how do you have a relasionship with someone that doesn't talk back to you after praying?
this was always rationalized as god talks back to you when you read the bible.
To imagine a relationship with god and come to an understanding of the complexity of the relationship between Heaven and Earth why not take this test?
A tsunami is a bad thing that God can prevent I believe. It causes many people to suffer and die. If it were stopped there would be people saved that go on to cause someone else to suffer. I think I understand human nature and odds of things happening.
Now please picture a family of four that love and nurture one another. There is nothing lacking. It is their day for the beach. They do not get the chance often to have a family day so the Dad will take them hell or high water. But he is not conscious of hell or high water. One or even all have a sense that this day is not a good day to go but they go.
It is not obvious that the waves are too strong. Anyway, the stronger the better for body surfing. So they do! But a current carries away their only son. They did not listen. Should god have saved the child? Should god save every child? If god was Earth's physical deliverer what would that be? Which child is worth saving? All of them? What happens when a child becomes unsatisfied with his provisions? Does god give him more so that something bad is diverted? Every child deserves water and nutrition. Every child also deserves love. People who are angry at god know this. What good does being angry at god do?
