  what is truth - Pilate asked Jesus

  i think pilate was being socratic when he asked jesus - what is truth?.

  my question is to do with whether or not jesus was also being socratic when he said he had come to bear witness to the truth.

  my idea is that both pilate and jesus were talking about a kind of ethics to live.

  my family are no longer in the shadow of the watchtower.

  (2nd generation born in, but only a small family)for that i have to offer my thanks to simon and everyone on this forum whose posts helped expose me to ttatt (i struggle to say quite how much it actually means to me, so i won't say more than, thank you).it all took a year or two, but i've read enough to know that i'm incredibly lucky and that it all happened for me in a very short time.although time turns to syrup when you have to wait.

  "expectation postponed..." will the platitudinous catchphrase scriptures ever stop coming to mind?when i started to tell my family some of the things i'd been learning online, they looked at me with no little fear and trepidation.

  On a side note: I'm a doxastic non-voluntarist.
  But dubs certainly do seem to choose their beliefs, I may need to consider my position.

  MmmHmm, that was me. I honestly can't think of a soul I'd have allowed to "stumble" me. Glad though I am that I stumbled.

  I wasn't beating myself up, I think a bit of shame is healthy, it was bloody shameful.
  But I understand your point, "If you brought 2 in then at least it wasn't 3 ... and so on", we did what we did and it's done. [to construct as redundant a sentence as I possibly can.]

  Seems slightly dishonest to now say they are not a cult, without knowing enough about their leadership to even tell if they meet a criterion you set on cults... Jus' sayin'.

  If you don't know enough about the leaders of the religion to comment upon them - Perhaps you are in no place to judge if the religion is a cult or not.
  (and this thread becomes pointless. Go research the GB.)

  Bro, I'm not trying to be funny... But all you are doing is repeating the claim that there is a "true" interpretation (now of the religion, not bible), and they don't have it.
  To make that statement you would have to have it yourself.
  Do you?
  
  And for the third time: Do you not consider the GB to be a composite charismatic leader?

  Quoting something Jebus said does not demonstrate that your understanding or "interpretation" is the "true" one. The argument as to the bible's "True meaning" is hardly over, hence sects and denominations...

  But I am still of the opinion that a person would actually bring this on themselves down to false interpretation of the religion they follow.
  

  Can you please explain the true interpretation? You could clear up a great deal of fuss, all over the globe, if you know.
  
  There are no "False" interpretations unless you have reason to believe there is a set objective message to that bibliography of conflicting religious texts?
  Can you elaborate the "True" interpretation? If not you can't call others' interpretations "False".
