I was born in, baptized at 13, df'd by 16. Then reinstated at 17, and out again, for good at 20. That was 25 years ago.
Just realized now, that i have been "out" more than i was "in", even being a "born in". Thats AWESOME!

i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.
I was also in my early pre teens when first studying this joke of a book. It was the same for me too. My 11 year old brain could not wrap its head around the fact that the most prophetic, earth shattering, trumpet blowing events were the conventions. It made no sense and just didnt feel right to me.
If i remember correctly the actual wording was something like, "happy are those who reach the 134 days", or something like that, and the WTBS had it fall on the exact days of the conventions.
Then they spoke about the "stinging" scorpion tails, or "bite" of the locusts, being the messages of the Watchtower magazine during the time of the end, exposing false religion. Its funny looking back now and seeing how the Watchtower magazine NOW, closer to the "end", has been reduced to an insignificant few measly pages of nonsense. The poison has been removed from the sting, thats for sure.
It was all complete and utter bulls&%t. I was actually long gone in my early 20s, when they came out with those "new light" supplemental pages to "paste and copy" into the mighty Revelation book. I knew it was bunk before that crap. Hearing about it after only reinforced that a made the right decision leaving the cult. I am lucky i got out in my early 20s, many been trapped for life.
the world is getting worse, for example children are getting more cheeky!.
proof positive!
.
Their lives are miserable, mundane, and unfulfilled. The only thing that keeps them going, and makes it somewhat bearable, is the thought that God is gonna come and destroy everyone and everything.
It really is a miserable existence, when you have to "cheer" for a sadistic God to come and wipe it all away. It keeps them going cause they are constantly ranting how "bad" the world is. Its wicked, wicked, wicked.
Nope, its THEIR lives that are "bad", and it helps them sleep at night thinking mighty Jahs gonna come and just spare them. Delusions of grandeur.
i have been studying with jehovah's witnesses for approximately two years.
initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.
however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.
It was very perceptive of you, and most likely what raised some "alarms", when you noticed that their "rules" seemed wrong.
The WTBS "rules" of not allowing any association with "worldly" outsiders of the religion, and claiming that ONLY JW's are clean, are tactics used in most high control Cults.
Many, unfortunately, realize this too late. They get suckered in by the "love bombing" and the appearance of true study, but it is the furthest thing from the truth. Many dont pick up on the signs that this is a cult, and once baptized in, you cannot get out, except under penalty.
Constantly drilling and brain washing that they are the ONLY ones who will be saved, and that all non JWs will die, including children and babies, is the tactics of a cult.
You were VERY lucky to see this BEFORE you went further. Take advantage of this, and stop that study. Your life will forever be free, and you and your family will be grateful.
so i'm watching john cedars commentary on the annual meeting from this last october, and at one point he shows a clip of garrett loesch talking about the struggles jehovah's witnesses faced decades before in the soviet union.
he claimed that police officers, maybe the kgb, infiltrated congregations which met in secret by studying with jehovah's witnesses, getting baptized, and then working their way up to becoming elders.
ceders jokes that this shows what kind of role holy spirit actually plays within body of elders, but another interpretation came to my mind just now.
Lol, Pete Zahut, i was thinking the same thing. The spin doctors will definitely do that.
sorry for my poor english, i hope to make not too many mistakes.
im a jw and in the last three years i have studied a lot the topic of the earth being flat.
i have a good scientific background so im not stupid or crazy.
I like a woman with a nice round, spherical bottom. If her chest is flat, or on the flatter side, it doesnt matter all that much to me. I guess you could say i am in both "camps" on this one.
I like it flat in some respects, and round in others. Its all perspective and location, really.
Oh wait, am i misunderstanding this thread a little. Sorry, this whole flat and round thing put me in a different mindset, my bad.
this is an example of a story that just strikes me as funny from their publications:.
"wilson, a christian from ghana, was notified that in a few days, he would be fired from his job.
on his final day at work, he was assigned to wash the private car of the managing director of the company.
Isnt it weird that the story says, "Wilson, a Christian from Ghana"???
Why doesnt it say, "Wilson, a Jehovahs Witness from Ghana", or "Wilson, a fellow Brother from Ghana". Its almost like they "borrowed" the story from somewhere else, idk.
I also agree, that "finding" someone elses money, in their own car, and with a "supervisor" knowing as well, and then "giving" it back to them, is not the pinnacle of honesty, lol. Someone knew he found it, and if his boss went to get his own money, from his own car, and it wasnt there, guess what, Wilson took it, duh.
Wait, maybe this was the Wilson from the Tom Hanks, Castaway movie, and we are talking about a volleyball.
one of my best friends is in the security business.
he told me the other day of how the watch tower has been in contact with his good friend and business associate.
evidently they are inquiring about putting cameras into every kh so that they can do 24 hour monitoring.
I wonder how the authorities, lawyers, advocates for victims of abuse, politicians, and the many who are aware of the WTBS horrible policies concerning child abuse, will react when they hear that the BORG is looking to now, institutionally place 24 hour cameras inside their Kingdom Halls.
Last i looked, bastions of child abuse, will not be looked upon favorably, especially when they decide to monitor, via video camera, all its members, including men, woman, elderly, and UNDER AGED CHILDREN.
This will be great for the WTBS squeaky clean PR campaigns, dumbasses.
can i ask your views on taking children out on the ministry?
.
do you have any experiences you can share of things you as a child/your children/grandchildren have witnessed on the ministry that they shouldn't have?.
Saturday morning field service, in particular, was horrible. My young brain, knew i was missing Scooby Doo, and Looney Tunes cartoons, for waking up early and knocking on doors of people who HATED that we were there.
It was a mind f@#k for my 5 to 12 year old brain. What child on Earth would REALLY like to go out in service, instead of sleeping in, watching cartoons, playing, or just plain old relaxing from a weeks worth of school.
The abuse from the WTBS was further perpetrated by the fact that if you didnt like, or want to go out in service, you were labelled as "bad", or not a spiritually strong youth. What young, to pre-teen child, would ever LIKE field service?? No normal child would.
Service is nerve racking, difficult, frightening, and tough, for the average ADULT. Think about what unneccessary stress it causes children. Sad, and just another abuse from the WTBS.
its been a minute since posting, have been trying to put this cult in my review mirror and just live life.
but you know this beast rears it's evil head.
my wife found my crisis of conscience book and out came the horns plus i guess what she is hearing at the meetings isn't helping either.
I lived thru hurricane Sandy, here in New Jersey. The ocean is 3 blocks from my home, and there is a fresh water lake, literally across the street from my home. During Sandy the ocean met the lake, and my home, along with about 8 other homes, were surrounded on all sides by water.
We were literally trapped for a few days, until the water subsided. I was lucky, as my home did NOT flood, but ALL the homes behind me, on both ends of my block, and across from me, flooded. I was an island unto myself.
No power for 3 to 4 weeks. No gas, no heat, nothing. Many homes collapsed, flooded, and when completely destroyed around me.
Since then, i have bug out bags for my whole family. I have fresh water stocks, food storage, guns, ammo, generators, everything. I am prepared now. I have enough food, water, guns, ammo, supplies, you name it, for YEARS.
I even have go bags, and supplies and food, for my 4 cats, lol. No joke, ready to rock n roll. Got gas masks, antibiotics, gold, and silver for barter, gasoline storage, radiation detectors, NBC suits, nerve gas antidote, shotguns, rifles, pistols, ammo, water filters, hand tools, tents, bug out vehicle/van, everything. Bring on the zombies.
Its not a bad thing to be prepared. Your wife having a "go bag" is NOT a bad thing. Her relying on the BORG to get her thru the first day, IS A VERY BAD THING. If they are ramping up the tribulation/armageddon crap, then they should be giving REAL advice, and REAL solutions. It sounds like they are NOT, and its a bunch of BS.
Ask her, if they really are stressing "being prepared", why are they doing that. What is the reason? What are their solutions? If they REALLY feel something is coming, but yet on the other hand, are being vague, and nonchalant about it, is that really right?
They cant have it both ways. They cant emphasize that the big A is imminent, but offer no solutions, thats a problem. Maybe it will make her think a little. Either way, being prepared aint a bad thing.
