@ - Simon & Problemaddict - I completely agree with you guys, and i, in NO way condone this behavior. I do beleive it does more "damage", than good. That being said, i still beleive it takes "guts" to do this. Yeah, he is gonna be looked at as a raving lunatic, but obviouslly he felt "compelled" to do this. As Simon said, it most likely came from ANGER, perhaps he was even personally hurt by child abuse, or his own children were. It certainly takes "balls" to get up there and scream like that, in front of all those people, i know i couldnt do it.

I do beleive, though, that specifically with this child abuse issue, if more people did it, it would make people question, What really is going on. Any of the "crazy" tactics that were used in the past, most times never worked. Standing outside holding signs, yelling, and the such, just "reinforced" the "persecution" philosophy in many JW's minds, and if anything "strengthened their faith". However, these men and women, were compelled to do it. Many people have been truly "HURT" by this organization, and i think most of us "feel" for them. People, often act out in certain ways, but it comes from a place of hurt, or anger.

Now, i am not saying, in ANY way, shape or form, that we should be acting like this, but if some choose to, i wont take away, their hurt, and their reasons why. I feel with all the info on the internet, and the WTS OWN ways, and us lovingly speaking to whomever we can help, and yes, if some want to YELL and SCREAM, well taken as a whole, it may create a "bigger picture" that somethings "wrong in watchtower land".

It was probably more detrimental for this person to interupt that assembly, but it took "guts", and he probably did make somebody, "think", idk. I feel bad for him, actually.

myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.

other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?

there were always all types of speakers in the org.

myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.

other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

I remember a brother saying "living orgasms", instead of living organisms.

I also, remember a few brothers tripping while going up onto the stage. The stage was about a normal "steps" height, but the whole floor was carpeted all the way up to, and over the stage. There was NO distinction, it was all carpeted, and the carpet was this HORRIBLE, ugly VERY BUSY, pattern. So, a lot of visiting brothers, if they werent used to the step up, would trip up onto the stage. I remember, one younger brother, actually tripping up onto the stage, and knocking into the microphone. It proceeded to fall, with a loud AMPLIFIED "BAAAAANG", and broke. So now, the brother had to stand there, like some schlep, while another brother got a replacement microphone, and holder. He was probably standing up there, awkwardly, for like 5 mins, before it was re-set-up, lol.

A lot of times, the brother adjusting the height of the mic, for the next bros talk, didnt have enough strength to loosen the microphone stand, and another STRONGER brother, would embarrasingly push him aside to looosen the mic, lol.

I also remember, a very old, and nearly blind, FRED FRANZ, giving the public talk. My Dad, who was one of the "top elders", of the time, was in charge of getting him "set up" and "ready". Being that he was almost blind, he needed help up that, infamous stage. He also, couldnt see the clock, so he had no concept of "time". He, instead, asked my father to come up on the stage and sit in the empty chair, when he was a half hour into the public talk. This way, since Bro Franz, couldnt see the time, he COULD see that someone sat in the chair on the stage, and then he knew it was a half hour IN, and he had 15 minutes LEFT. Well there was an empty chair on either side of the speaker, my father at a half hour went up and sat on the chair to his left. Well Franz looked to the chair on his right, and in the middle of his talk, he says "WHERE ARE YA", then he looks at the other chair and says "OH THERE YA ARE". He then proceeded for another 15 to 20 minutes, without skipping a beat, and probably if my father didnt go up, he would have just kept on, rambling on, without knowing what time it was, or how long he was up there, lol.

OMG, that was hysterical, lol. So far, all 3 of these were great. Not for nothing, that Derek dude, that started bugging out at the Milton Keyes convention, HAS A LOT OF BALLS!!!!! That took GUTS to do that. Unfortunately, he was probably looked at, like just some "raving madman", but what he was saying took guts. If more people infiltrated Assemblies like this, people WOULD start to question.

Man, i can only imagine donig this at my old circuit assembly, which WAS the STANLEY THEATRE. That would be infamous.

@ - Stuckinamovement - Lol, that is some funny shit. I wonder if they "reproved" that brother, right on the spot. Also, unless a GB member was in attendance for that talk, how could they say the GB didnt "approve". Did they call up a GB member, play the talk for him, and he gave the "thumbs down", insane.

@ - ShirleyW - LOL, Father Capadano is right over the Verazzano, in South Beach. It runs right along the water. They put a nice boardwalk there, in the past few years. Although, after hurricane Sandy, its gone thru a lot over there. A lot of homes were flooded off Father Capadano, from Sandy.

Small world, if you are from Queens, i am familiar with Howard Beach area, Russos on the bay. We had a family move from Howard beach, into my old cong, many years ago. I also remember a brother giving a talk, visiting from Laurelton, too.

@ - Shirley - Nope, not Brooklyn. The WBBR was the old radio station that the WTS used to have on "rural" Staten Island, back in the day. Staten Island has changed A LOT, since then, some would say it might as well be "old Brooklyn", now. Anyway, its Staten Island, and my granparents ONLY spoke Italian, just like the rest of the Island, lol.
