Was looking at my childhood book "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained" I found something interesting.
by Still Totally ADD ini was showing a friend of mine what kind of books my parents allowed me to read when i was very young.
no children books that was age related but the so called orange paradise book was my only children book i had.
she was taken back on how violent it was and showing little kids being killed by god was just unspeakable.

Lol, look at page 46. The illustration of Nimrod, I believe, looks something like Lord of the rings, meets Norse Mythology, meets Game of Thrones, meets old testament Hebrew mythology.
Is that Merlin the wizard, Gandalf the Grey, or Saruman the white wizard, sitting next to "horny" Nimrod?

Do you think I should get something for my wife for her birthday?
by schnell inmy wife is still nominally in, but only because it "makes me (her) happy".
there is nothing academic about her beliefs and when i try, she interprets me as negative.. but then she cusses like a sailor and watches certain movies with me.
her birthday is coming up and it's also right around valentine's day.

@ Schnell - If YOU want to give her something, PLEASE just do it. ONLY do it, if YOU want to, though. Don't think about it being because its her Bday, or even Valentines day, do it cause you are thinking of her, love her, and just want to give her something.
Its YOUR life. Its YOUR relationship. Never let the man made rules of a CULT dictate a way you want to express your love towards your mate. I honestly believe, NOTHING bad can, and will come out of you giving her a present for whatever day it may be, ONLY good.
My wife was never a Witness, and had ZERO knowledge and experiences with JW's, until she met me, and I have been OUT for over 20 years. With that being said, I sometimes just give a gift, jut to give it. Not for anything special, other than thinking of her, and loving her. I do this for my daughters too. I will even get my wife a gift, sometimes, around her bday, and not on it. I keep things spontaneous, and keep em guessing, lol.
I guarantee, she will love whatever you give her, whether its for her bday, or not. But, if she doesn't like it, then just divorce her, and don't look back. THATS A JOKE, SMILE, I AM KIDDING, lol.

Welcome. Its very brave, and courageous of you to take even this first step. It can be overwhelming, and depending on certain circumstances, like family still "IN", and how much your personal life is intertwined, it can be scary.
Take things one step at a time. It took you many years to get to where you ae now, so don't worry about having to change everything quickly. Do, and keep things, on YOUR terms, always. Especially as you learn more, and gather more info. Do not show your "hand", unless you are positive you can without consequences.
I can relate to all you are thinking, and perhaps going thru. I was a "born in", and was 15 years old in 1990. Sounds like we are around the same age, and in turn raised in the "truth" at around the same time of this Cult.
I have been out since my early 20's, luckily, but I still only realized I was raised in a cult only about 3 years ago. Although, I have been away from the organization since the mid to late 90's, I still thought it was the "truth" until just a few years ago. I researched, I found out, I discovered, and it all unraveled. I couldn't believe all the lies we were told.
I know I was told from a very young age, that "this generation" that was alive in 1914, would not pass away. Well, that "knowledge" has been flushed down the toilet. That was taught to us as being 100%, iron clad TRUTH from God. I remember being around 12 years old, and the Watchtower cover with those older, elderly, brothers and sisters on it, and the caption "they will not pas away". Well, guess what, EVERY one of those dear, elderly brothers and sisters are DEAD.
Its hard to believe that our religion of our youth was all lies, but once that's discovered, you cant go back. Again, it takes courage to admit this. I promise, with this knowledge, DOES come power, and it does take time, but you will be better for knowing the REAL TRUTH.
If you ever want to talk, just PM me, and again, welcome.

What finally helped you to peek behind the curtain
by UnshackleTheChains ini'm interested in finding out what it was that finally enabled you to open your eyes to the real truth of watchtower.
what started me thinking, was the societys very own book...' 'revelation..it's grand climax at hand'.
i found that book farcicle.

For me, it started with the hypocrisy amongst the Elder body, and men in charge. The poor way they handled things. The warped perceptions they made on "spiritual matters", and other peoples spirituality. How the Elders thought they could dictate what God felt, or thought about other humans, and situations. The cliques of the Elders, their wives, the pioneers, and all the good old boys club mentality.
Being raised in the "truth", is a very polarizing experience. I can honestly say, that I have met some of the BEST human beings I have ever known in my life, and equally some of the WORST human beings on planet earth. I have been out of the "truth" since my early 20's, which is half my life, as I am in my early 40's now, so I have had an equal length of time, both in and out. I have known Witnesses, and Worldly people, equally as much, nd Witnesses take the cake for having more of the worst type of humans, unfortunately.
After being out of the "truth" for many years, I still felt it WAS the "truth". Fortunatelly, the way I was treated by the same people that were my only family, and friends, is what kept me from returning. It wasn't until about 7 or 8 years ago that I started REALLY researching the Cult, and its history. This was actually very therapeutic for me, as it showed me the REAL truth about this organization, that I think in the back of my mind, I always knew. I then realized that the people in the Org, were the "fruits" of this rotten organization, and its fruit wasn't good.
I guess, looking back, I should be thankful that I was DF'd, even if it was unfairly. It got me away from this parasitic, toxic, organization, a lot sooner in life than most. The "curtain" came down many years AFTER I was already out. I am just glad I didn't try to get re-instated many years ago. Life circumstance was in my favor. I think it would have been harder to find out TTATT, while still "IN", and being stuck, than learning what was behind the curtain, while already "on the other side".

What have been some of the funniest local needs talks that you have heard?
by DaPriest ini remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.
in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.
no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.

I remember a local needs talk, directed towards some teenagers in the cong who were found out to be playing with paintball guns, and organizing games on the weekends. The Elder who gave the talk, was an AVID sports hunter. He had a "trophy" room in his home, full of stuffed bears, geese, raccoons, and pheasants, and many other innocent animals he fired LIVE BULLETS AT. BUT no, it was more important for him to tell the witness kids not to fire balls of paint at each other, and humiliate them, shaming them into guilt.
I also remember another local needs talk, that further harassed the children, and shamed them. It was about the "horrors" of heavy metal music they were listening to. I remember the brother saying, "Yes there is even a song out glorifying the eating of cancer".
This idiot was referencing the Nirvana song that said, "I wish I could eat your cancer, when you turn black". Lol, what a f@#$ing clown the Elder was. You just gotta shake your head.
Another younger, late 20 something Elder, gave a local needs to make sure the kids weren't reading superhero comics. He said that superheroes like Superman, and others, were actually demonic characters like Hercules, and the Nephilim. Another f@#ing genius.
Also, once had some hard assed CO say that the bros shouldn't watch and get into football. Needless to say, a lot of brothers thought that was wrong, and the CO shouldnt have said that, and had no right to. Funny how certain "rules" are picked and chosen to be listened to, while others are not.
I remember a local needs about how all the young children, toddlers, and infants, were making TOO MUCH noise during the meetings, and disrupting the valuable, spiritual food from being heard. There were a lot of younger married couples with young children. At the next meeting, there in turn, was a ton of Mothers in the back rooms of the Hall with their crying children, so they would no longer "disrupt" the meetings. Then a few weeks later, there was another local needs talk, but this time about "all the people, especially children, clogging up the back rooms", lol.
These people couldn't win, so some felt their only option was to then keep their young children home. The Borg wonders why the cant keep people in this organization. Its because of stupidity like that. The older asshole MEN in charge, for some reason, think that young babies, and toddlers, should sit thru 2 hour meetings, without so much as a peep, and if for some reason they make a sound, the kids should be "beaten" into submission, so that a 2 year old will sit still for 2 hours straight, while a 45 year old Elder debates that 607 and 1914 are special years.

The only "true" way of figuring all this out, is the perspective of these dates. For instance, is it Shire reckoning, or the Elven calendar, or is it perhaps the calendar, and timeline of the Gondorians. Did the Istari Wizards, sent by the great Valar, have anything to do with forging the timeline?
Was the destruction, perhaps NOT done by the Babylonians, but instead by a great Goblin horde, led by a half-orc named Azog. Speaking of "half-orcs", maybe, just maybe, it was a large, hunting orc party, riding upon the backs of direwolves, that felled the great city of Jerusalem.
Now THAT would be some "unclean things", defiling the temple, am I right? Now, lets not forget that 70 years, if orcs DID destroy Jerusalem, could ONLY have been 70 Lunar years, as orcs cannot be in direct sunlight, and most likely, would have had to stop their whole destruction thing every morning at sunset.
More importantly, when we count the 2520 years from this destruction, a GIANT invisible Dragon went to war, in another dimension, called the spirit world, with a God-Prince named Michael. The battle might have lasted, like a year and half, or something like that, and the "good guys" had bird wings, but the "bad guys" had bat wings, and were all kicked out of Middle Earth, or maybe Westeros.
And if we count over 100 years from that, there is currently a 7 headed wild beast, dragon, that has a female rider on her named Khaleesi. Also we shouldn't have pre marital sex, because this Dragon wants to devour us, like a lion, and we should ONLY listen to 7 guys who are old, and come from Brooklyn, and know EVERYTHING, and maybe there is 7 of them, for each of the 7 heads of the dragon, or maybe not.

Hey all, I mentioned this in my thread about the TV commercial that was seen from the Law firm, that's putting these adds out. They have now placed an add in a NYC newspaper, called the Staten Island Advance. It was almost exactly like this add, but just in NY, and it was seen yesterday.
I will be downloading copies here, or maybe start its own thread.
To all that do not know, Staten Island is one of the 5 boroughs of New York City. There are about 8 to 10 different congregations, at least, on the Island. I can also, personally verify, that at about 25 years ago, there WAS sexual abuse issues in a congregation, on the Island. It will be interesting to see if this comes out.
I was born and raised on Staten Island, and I can verify that the Staten Island Advance, is a HUGE newspaper. Almost a million people read it weekly. So, this now makes 2 different states running these articles, and TV commercials, and all right in the WTS's BACKYARD.
Good luck BORG, you are gonna need it.

TV commercial seen in the United States, from a Law firm "Asking if you were ever sexually abused by JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, please call".
by Dunedain inok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.
if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.
however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

So, I have a little more info about this commercial, as well as seeing ANOTHER newspaper add, in another newspaper.
First off, I can verify that this commercial IS still being played on cable TV channels in the NYC area. Second, I believe it was mentioned already, but the law firm is the Weitz and Luxembourg law firm, working with MANY other NATIONAL law firms, as a conglomerate, and specifically for these JW sexual abuse claims.
Next, I can verify with my own eyes, that another newspaper add, almost exactly like the one Breakfast of champions posted was in the NJ Star Ledger, was in a NYC newspaper, called the Staten Island Advance, yesterday.
To those that do not know, Staten Island is one of the 5 boroughs of New York City. It is a very affluent borough, with quite a number of judges, lawyers, politicians, doctors, and upper middle class incomes. I was born and raised on that Island, and can verify that the Staten Island Advance is a HUGE newspaper. I also, personally know that there WERE victims of child sexual abuse from JW's, in a congregation on Staten Island, a little over 25 years ago. I wonder if those persons have taken notice of this add, and TV commercial.
I WILL be printing out a copy of the add from the Staten Island Advance, and with a family members help, as I am NOT that savvy computer wise, will try to upload it here, or in its own thread, or possibly in Breakfast of Champions thread.
This has JUST started this week/year, with adds, and commercials, and it is already growing. THIS IS HUGE FOLKS, HUGE!!!

Are baptized Witnesses that are no longer in the "truth", but were NEVER DF'D, now to be shunned and treated like disfellowshipped ones?
by Dunedain ina relative of mine was telling me, that in his, and a few neighboring congregations, there is a little confusion amongst some of the jw's about this "issue".
some families are having a hard time about whether certain relatives will be attending certain family functions, because some family members that are no longer in the "truth", might be invited to these functions.
mind you, these persons were never disfellowshipped.
