Prayer Question I Had After Sundays Watchtower...
by freemindfade inwhile i was sitting through another grueling watchtower, dying from my brain being turned into cult pudding, i had this thought after i heard this read: .
when we express our most intimate thoughts to god in prayer, he may answer us through a bible passage, an article in a magazine, or an encouraging word from a fellow believer.

Prayer is an "odd" concept, and i find that it is twisted, quite heavily by JW's, and even others, for that matter. JW's love to say their prayers were, or are answered, and sometimes it was for such trivial, and nonsensical things. As others in this thread have said, though, there are many, many prayers by Witnesses too, that NEVER get answered. There are many Witnesses, who are suffering from major health issues, utter poverty, and tons of unforseen things. Why arent those ones prayers answered, but some asshole pioneer who needs $66 bucks, gets an answer to a prayer???? Think of the absurdity of that comment, and the narciccism of that person.
There is the "brother" who is a contractor, and he is praying for the rain to go away, so he can finish his job, and get paid, to feed his family. Then there is the "brother", in the same town, who is a farmer, and he is praying FOR rain, to help his crops, so he to can feed his family too.
If it rains, does Jehovah "hate" the JW contractor, over the JW farmer? Or if it doesnt rain, does Jehovah "hate" the JW farmer, over the JW contractor?

Probably not yet, but when the mags are down to once or twice a year, or done altogether, then they will want an update. -

@ Freemindfade - I am digging that pic of Lucky Luciano ya got there. He is actually a distant relation of mine(grandmothers cousin). Founding "father" of the Italian/American Cosa nostra, he is. I am born and raised in Brooklyn/Staten island, wink, wink. -

A simple physical exercise leads to great discovery!
by iconoclastic inwhen i was working in a shipping company, captain invited me to his house for his wedding anniversary.
there i was attracted to his father (aged around 80) who seemed to be very healthy.
with me he became very comfortable, and talkative.

The 2nd one, seems like it would be too much of a pain in the ass for me to do, and would probably get shitty results. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE -

Sad Reality...
by JW_Rogue in...is that most jws don't know anything about the financial news that is happening right now.
sure it has trickled down to the elders and those who volunteer for construction but the average jw has no idea.
no one in my hall has said a thing about it.

JW's are all going to suffer from "perma frost", lol. Its not going to sink in to most of of em. However, remember, this is still fresh news, in fact the letter hasnt even been read to most congs. The news about SP Pioneers, and Bethel layoffs, and construction stopping, and all that, are going to trickle out to the masses. They WILL hear about it. What they DO with it, however, will be another story. -

Some of these are a bit far fetched. However, i have seen something weird with my own eyes, and ANYONE here can see it too. In the state of Maryland, in the U.S. there is a beach town, called Ocean City, Maryland. For those not familiar, this is on the east coast of America, and there is a huge beach, boardwalk, and summer shore community.
My family, and i would go here every summer for vacation. The boardwalk is huge, and is a typical summer attraction. There are tons of rides, games, food, shops, and all manner of tourist attractions.
One of the bigger attractions on the boardwalk is a "Ripleys, beleive it , or not". For those unfamiliar, "Ripleys" has places all over the country. The "Ripleys" attractions, are usually a museum type, walk thru place, that are full of weird, odd, strange, creepy, and "unbeleivable" items and exhibits. The exhibits can range from weird photos of siamese twins, to a giant boat made of match sticks, to a cast of a deformed skull, or to "art" using burnt pieces of toast to form a picture.
Anyway, to the point. In the "art" section of this "Ripleys", many years ago, my father and i noticed a familiar looking painting. There was an artist who was from Mexico, and the painting of his, that was on display, was considered worthy for "Ripleys", because from a distance the painting appeared to be 1 giant picture of 1 scene. However, upon closer inspection, you realized that the artist actually painted tiny, little scenes and put them all together, so that from a distance they looked like the 1 giant scene. Instead, it was a collection of many, many little scenes, that all "worked" together, to create the main painting.
The interesting thing though, is that this artist, for the smaller little portions of the scene, WAS USING SOME SOCIETY ART. My father, and i, noticed within the picture, MANY scenes from the MY BOOK OF BIBLE STORYS, THE PARADISE BOOK, and others. Off the top off my head, i remember the shark that swallowed Jonah, from the Paradise book was there, a Jesus scene with him on THE STAKE, taken right from WTS literature, and many others.
The artist, must have, a) either beena WTS artist and illustrated for them, OR, b) directly stole the illustrations from the WTS many books. The main point being though, is that the tiny scenes, which combined to form the 1 big scene, was done, obviouslly, in a SUBLIMINAL way. That was the only way to achieve the desired effect, of the "illusion", of it being 1 painting, even though it was many tiny paintings/scenes, instead of one.
It was very strange to me and my Dad, that a painting worthy of "Ripleys", because of its use of ILLUSIONS, and SUBLIMINALLY HIDING scenes within a scene, was FULL of WTS IMAGES.
ANY person reading this now, can go and see this for themselves, hence verifying, what i am saying here. Again, it is at the "Ripleys, beleive it or not" museum, in United States, on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland. Go to the "Ripleys" and in the art section, you will see a painting from a Mexican artist, using WTS illustrations, many INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE, and in a subliminal way of hiding pictures WITHIN pictures, to create an illusion.
Its weird, mind blowing, and a bit disturbing.

@ Bill Covert - Thanks for that further info. If i read your post correctly, you are saying that Merton Campbell was in the service dept at around 2004 to 2007 ish, in Northern California?
He was in my old congregation in NYC, when he was on the service dept, but in Brooklyn bethel headquarters at the time. I hadnt realized that he was sent/moved to California. I myself, had dealings with him over 20 years ago. I was only in my late teens, but had a close relationship with him, due to reasons i wont get into now. He was quite the egomaniac, and very "proud" of his high position. His wife was one of the FAKEST, JUDGEMENTAL, 2 FACED, and GOSSIPING, woman you could ever meet. The type to blow smoke up your ass to your face, and 2 seconds later talk shit about ya, behind your back.
Both, Merton, and his wife Olga, were "buddy, buddy" with my ex-grandmother in law. My ex-grandmother in law, was all into "high society", and the "whos who", of the organization, and living within miles of Brooklyn Bethel, she had access to them. She was a very wealthy woman, and the GB, and Cambells, and other "higher ups", would kiss her ass, and she would line their pockets. They were all on the take, and Merton and Olga Campbell were right in the mix, getting their share.
Anyway, i caught Merton in a real serious lie once. The type that undermines confidence and could break serious trust. It just never set, right with me, but thats the nature of this beast we call the WTS.
I appreciate you confirming for me, please, if he was indeed in Northern California, when you dealt with him, thanks.

In the news: Warwick gets more money?
by LevelThePlayingField insource:http://www.warwickadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=/20151001/news01/151009998/warwick-seeks-amendment-to-town-code.
[at the end of the article] does this mean they are getting more money???.
sweeton also sought a resolution to reduce the performance bond from pledged collateral account control agreement with the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. from $22.6 million to $7.3 million and to authorize the release the difference to the organization.. the watchtower bible and tract society jehovah’s witnesses world headquarters is advancing in its new construction.

This really doesnt mean anything. The bond money was probably just an escrolle account of projected money usage, and put into an account in case any issues happen during consrtuction. The township probably requires a large corporation, like the WTS, who are doing huge amounts of construction in their town, to put this money in the account. Basically, if anything went horribly wrong during construction, say like a bulldozer ripping up a gas line and starting a fire that consumes hundreds of acres of the towns resources, or an ecological contamination to the towns water supply. The money held in escrolle, in this account could then be used to "fix" the problem.
The ammendment to the law in this case, is that instead of the WTS having to put 22 million, or whatever the amount was, they are now allowed to only have to put 7 million in the account. Either way, whether the 22 million or the 7 million is put in, as long as there is no major catastrophe, the WTS would get this money back anyway, after constructions end.
The WTS was probably originally required to put in the first, larger amount of money, but then they bitched, and probably sent letters and filed for an adjustment/ammendment, asking to put in a lesser amount. Maybe claiming that construction was nearing its end, or saying that whatever construction is left is not as huge or expensive as the previous years. The ammendment got passed, but either way the WTS, is just getting there own money back, or not having to put up as much money first, but that they would still get back anyway.
