What were two Chinese doing in Roman London?

When you were fully in, would you lie about how loving your congregation was?

not long ago my elder brother got very sick.

he was hospitalized for a few weeks and his jw wife and children were at his side often.

also, his non jw family was also bedside with him, siblings and parents.. his recollection involves asking us "don't you remember all the jws that came visiting me when i was sick?".

Just playing devils advocate here, but is it possible that maybe when you or some of your other non JW family were not there, maybe some JW's came?

Or were you guys totally in his room, and by his side. Cause if you were, and there was no chance that some JW's snuck in to see him, it is kinda absurd that he is saying that.

Its just another example of their delusional behavior, and mind set. Really, if you think about it, almost every JW, is living a life full of fantasies in their heads. Its pretty sad, in all honesty.

less than 5 hours ago my great dad fell asleep the last time :( still in a bit of a shock and sad that i will not see him again...i promised myself that once he is here no more, i will somehow make my move out of this organisation who kept us all captive believing in a fantasy of an everlasting life :( i am in a tricky situation, since raised as jw, still in, married to an active jw, and pretty sure that all in my social and family circle will turn their backs on me if i finally say goodbye to a fairytail ;(.

Wow, that's a tough one! Having to deal with the death of a parent, and then the real possibility of your social group turning their backs on you, must be daunting.

So sorry you have to go thru this. My best advice is to take the fade, slow. Don't rush, its cool, you KNOW whats up, just do things on YOUR terms.

Right now, focus on nice memories of your father. Grieve however, and in any way you wish too, and at your pace. Right now, deal with the arrangements, and processes that come with losing a loved one. Everyone is going to be around you, and trying to comfort you.

Use this time to see who is sincere, and loving to you. Observe, mourn, remember, laugh, cry, do all these things now, but most of all hang in there.

Sorry for your loss.

I begged xelder to talk to shunned daughter

i was at shopping centre , jw family say i haven't see you at meetings, i said i don't go and can't support a group that divides families.

i gave example of his daughter who he doesn't talk to.

I know of this uber, piece of crap, hard assed, elder, who "prides" himself that he doesn't talk to his , now, adult daughter. He, also, by proxy, has never met or spoken to, his beautiful granddaughter, either.

This person cares more about the ,superficial, accolades from other men, than speaking to his own daughter. He gets to stay an elder, because he NEVER spoke to his DF'd daughter once, after she was DF'd. He walks around like a pompous ass, and that he is just SOOO gODLY, because of it.

Well the joke is on HIM. He is missing out on TRUE love, from a granddaughter, and his own daughter, and all for a phoney love from other MEN. Why, so you could retain your "status" as an elder. What a fool! What a brainwashed, idiot he is!

His name is Bill Skrod, an elder in a congregation in a borough of NYC. If you want to see a pompous assed buffoon, in all his "glory", just ask for him.

You are "clean" now, in both mind and body. My only hope for you, is to remain that way. The only way to remain that way, will be if you stay free of the cult that you KNOW the WTBS is.

God luck my friend, you will need it. There are dangerous waters ahead. Pitfalls, and perils, will abound. There will be traps for the weak, and for the one who is not vigilant. You will need to watch your every move, and your back, from stabbing knives. These knives will not come from some evil monster, but instead, a man with a smile, wearing a suit and tie.

There will be no freedom of your mind. No comfort for your soul, when you debate what will be in front of your eyes. You will be a witness to hate, on a weekly basis. You will be a witness to callous hearts, on a weekly basis. You will be a witness to fake smiles, and conditional friendships. You will be a witness to the tragedy of lost childhoods. You will be a witness to fellow humans, inner fire for creativity, and self, being extinguished before your very eyes. You will be a witness to hurt and pain, on an institutional level, from the top pushing upon the bottom. You will be a witness to death from false interpretations, of an archaic book, that has been shaped by the whims of power hungry men.

This is the "Witness" you will be, if you return. Like I said, I wish you luck my friend, you will need it.

Easier to be a JW now?

reading konceptual's account of talking to cart 'witnesses' and it reminded me that when we left in '89 we thought the religion would do one of two things.

get more hardline, consequently lose members and eventually come to an end in some way.

or ease up on the members, fewer rules, less fs time, less meetings, just to keep them in.. all the recent apostate stuff, treatment of dfed kids and the hardline attitude to people who leave or try to fade has confused me, made me think they are harder on the r+f., but i don't think this is true.

As others have said, I think it is much easier to "fake" being a JW now. Many, many, are just going thru the motions. There are not too many more scholarly brothers, or scholarly discussions, in this organization anymore.

The doctrine cannot be discussed, and upheld, garnering robust, intellectual discussions. It is complete, and utter, nonsense, now. The meetings, literature, talks, basically everything, has been dumbed down. The magazines are written at a3rd grade level. The average JW, is usually poorly educated.

Anyone, with half a brain, and who can think for themselves, have been kicked out, are on this site, or sit quietly at the meetings, and try not to get noticed. What are they left with, a R&F that just "cruises" along. Barely making a wave. The fellowship, and conversation, is superficial, at best. "Oh what a great assembly", "Oh what a wonderful talk". Then, go ask them what it was about, and you will get a blank stare.

So, is this easier now, to be a JW, and just show up? I think it depends on which type of person you are. If you have half a brain, I would say its harder now. If you are a fake, superficial, person, then its probably much easier to be a JW now. If you could care less about core doctrines, and being lied to doesn't bother you, then maybe now its easier. If you hate field service, I guess it is easier now. If you want to fade away, and become inactive, then it may be harder now. The pushing of the shunning policy, and cutting off family, has to be making it harder for some.

At the end of the day, the Borgs policies, are always a 2 edged sword. If they are hard-lined, and uber strict, they will lose many. If they are lax, and more liberal, it will cause people not be invested, and whole new generations, could fade away. They are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. Either way, the numbers show, its not working anymore, no matter what they do.

What is the purpose of life?

because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".

lets try to think about this "logically", and i use that term loosely, because we are going to use jw "logic".. so, they say that satan is real.

these are the last days.

satan is "roaring about", like a lion, with him and his demons "trapped" within the confines of earth.

@ NewYork44M - Lol, I agree, and have had a similar experience. When I was DF'd, I was told how Jah 's spirit would no longer be with me, and that my life was gonna turn to crap. They were able to get away with saying these type of things, because I was barely out of my teens, and they tried to scare me.

Well, fast forward 20 years later, and I have a beautiful family, self employed with financial security, tons of time with my children, and a very good life. Somebodies blessing me, lol.

A little over a decade ago, my old congregation had heard about my financial success, and certain accomplishments, and the jerk elder who DF'd me, actually gave a local needs talk about it, lol. He said that although "some" who are no longer in the truth, may appear to be happy, and have it all, they can never be truly happy, or being blessed. He also, said, that it even makes sense that they would be successful, because they were raised in the truth, and taught so much because of it.

Lol, you believe the balls on that guy. One thing I DO know, is I sure got into his "head", and made uite an impression on him.
