TV commercial seen in the United States, from a Law firm "Asking if you were ever sexually abused by JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, please call".

ok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.

if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.

however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

So, I have a little more info about this commercial, as well as seeing ANOTHER newspaper add, in another newspaper.

First off, I can verify that this commercial IS still being played on cable TV channels in the NYC area. Second, I believe it was mentioned already, but the law firm is the Weitz and Luxembourg law firm, working with MANY other NATIONAL law firms, as a conglomerate, and specifically for these JW sexual abuse claims.

Next, I can verify with my own eyes, that another newspaper add, almost exactly like the one Breakfast of champions posted was in the NJ Star Ledger, was in a NYC newspaper, called the Staten Island Advance, yesterday.

To those that do not know, Staten Island is one of the 5 boroughs of New York City. It is a very affluent borough, with quite a number of judges, lawyers, politicians, doctors, and upper middle class incomes. I was born and raised on that Island, and can verify that the Staten Island Advance is a HUGE newspaper. I also, personally know that there WERE victims of child sexual abuse from JW's, in a congregation on Staten Island, a little over 25 years ago. I wonder if those persons have taken notice of this add, and TV commercial.

I WILL be printing out a copy of the add from the Staten Island Advance, and with a family members help, as I am NOT that savvy computer wise, will try to upload it here, or in its own thread, or possibly in Breakfast of Champions thread.

This has JUST started this week/year, with adds, and commercials, and it is already growing. THIS IS HUGE FOLKS, HUGE!!!

a relative of mine was telling me, that in his, and a few neighboring congregations, there is a little confusion amongst some of the jw's about this "issue".

some families are having a hard time about whether certain relatives will be attending certain family functions, because some family members that are no longer in the "truth", might be invited to these functions.

mind you, these persons were never disfellowshipped.

That's what I had heard to, and that it was specifically mentioned at a 2016 convention. I wonder, though, if its officially in print.

The reason being, is that the coordinating Elder, and the Circuit overseer in my old congregation, are saying that this is NOT true, and they never heard this. Its kinda crazy. Yet there are 2 Elders in the SAME circuit, but in a neighboring congregation, that are refusing to go to this family gathering, because their own fleshly BROTHER is going to be there, and he is not "in the truth". He is also NOT disfellowshipped. ITS CRAZY.

Their Mother is trying to get to the bottom of it, and see if this is "official", but she really cant get a straight answer.

A relative of mine was telling me, that in his, and a few neighboring congregations, there is a little confusion amongst some of the JW's about this "issue". Some families are having a hard time about whether certain relatives will be attending certain family functions, because some family members that are no longer in the "truth", might be invited to these functions. Mind you, these persons were NEVER disfellowshipped. They just faded away, perhaps even 20 or 30 years ago, and don't attend meetings, and would be considered "out of the truth", but again, were NEVER DF'd.

Some were saying that these ones are NOW to be treated as though they ARE disfellowshipped. They said they heard this at a recent regional assembly, from a speaker at the platform, and I believe some even said they read it in print from the BORG. Yet, others, including ELDERS, and a CO, said NO they never heard that, and don't believe its the case.

It is, supposedly causing some serious divisions in the relative I was talking to congregation. An older sister wants to invite her whole family to her going away party, but some of her other, hard lined JW family members, are threatening not to go, if she invites a certain son. All of her ADULT children are JW's, EXCEPT this one son. He is NOT DF'd, just faded away, and not in the "truth", but again, NEVER DF'd.

Is this what JW's are doing now? I knew they were ramping up the whole, "DO NOT talk to DF'd children thing", and I know about the video that was played at a recent assembly last year, with the DF'd daughters phone calls being ignored. I also DO, vaguely remember hearing, however, that maybe, faded, out of the truth family members that no longer attend meetings, should be viewed as being DF'd now, even though they are NOT DF'd.

Can some one PLEASE verify for me if this is true, and more importantly if its OFFICIALLY in print to treat those that are no longer active JW's, but were never DF'd, as though they ARE DF'd now, and ANY links would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

It seems to be a very confusing "rule" that some are believing they should follow, and some have never heard, while others cant believe it is being followed. It appears to be further breaking up, and causing divisions amongst families, and I would really love to know if this is a new, official policy, in print from the ORG.

Any info, would be very helpful to me. Whatever links, or articles, or if anyone here has heard this from the platform, or not, I appreciate anything you can tell, or provide. Thanks in advance.

my wife found this 1/4 page ad on page 2 of yesterday's nj star-ledger, probably the biggest newspaper in nj.

I think all of us, including myself, who live in the NYC, tri state area, and have access to this newspaper, should grab a copy, and make HUNDREDS of photo copies of this advertisement.

We then should carefully cut out the advertisement, perhaps even wearing latex gloves, so as not to "dirty" the copies with fingerprints. Then place them in an envelope, and anonymously mail them to EVERY JW we know. Including Elder bodies, pioneers, publishers, EVERYONE.

That will "grow" the "buzz" in spades. There will be NO denying that its "just rumor", when they are literally holding a copy of the add in their hands.

This is an add, in newspapers, in the NYC area. This is in, or near the same state, that the WTS HEADQUARTERS are in. Not some far away town, or small rural state, or another country, NOPE, right in their own backyard. In fact, we should make copies of this ad, and MAIL THEM TO BETHEL by the thousands.

ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE!. They will reap, what they have sown.

All those who are in the NYC/NJ area, and have access to this paper, including myself, PLEASE help by getting copies of this, out there to as many JW's as you can. Make it so they CANNOT deny it. Make it so they CANNOT disregard it. Make it so they CANNOT sweep it under the carpet, and try to hide, like they always have in the past.

Lets BLOW THIS UP!!!!!! Lets make copies, and start a mailing campaign, without having to write a word, just a copy of this ad. Post them up in public places. Make fliers, put them up on public boards. Get it out there.

Heck, JW's have been leaving stacks of literature in peoples doors for YEARS, why not leave some stacks of copies of this add, at the front door of every Kingdom Hall within driving distance.

PLUS, as I stated in the other thread I started about this ad, there is actually a TV commercial being aired, as we speak. For all those that haven't heard, its a commercial from the Weitz and Luxembourg Law firm, asking if anyone has been sexually abused by the Jehovahs Witnesses SPECIFICALLY, to call for possible financial compensation.

Between us getting copies of this add out there, and the public TV adds, it will be very hard for the average JW to NOT take notice.

This is BIG, but we can help, in a small way, to make it an even bigger impact, perhaps even reaching those young ones, and others that were abused, helping them to get justice.

Lets get our copy machines out friends! It is time!

@ stan livedeath - That would be the legal version of "insider trading", and would be totally illegal. If this was the case, and I seriously doubt it is, and the WTS was trying to under handedly play both sides of a serious legal matter, they would be IDIOTS. They 100% would be caught, especially as facts were presented, and it would result in major, corporation crushing fines, that they could never recover from.

I almost wish they would do that, it would actually contribute to their own demise QUICKER.

Indeed he did, Stuckinarut2, indeed he did. The fruit coming from the tree, that is the ORG, is quite rotten of late. The trees roots have been feeding on the soil of failed doctrines, blood of the innocents, sexual abuse scandals, breaking up of families, and lies within lies, and now the tree is SICK.

The fruit is molded, and rotten, it is poison to ones lips. The branches are cracked, and withered, dry to the touch. Its trunk is hollow and weak, a husk of its former self. No more do birds sing upon its limbs, and flowers bloom within its leaves. No more are nests built for the nurturing of animals, and raising of life within its branches.

Instead worms feast upon its flesh, and fungus and mold grow, where once there was beauty. Its colors of life, and pleasure, once vibrant and glowing, are now brown, and black dead with decay.

Here comes the axe of destruction. The mighty chops are being wielded now. The final blows, that shall fell the rotten tree, have been dealt. We are witnessing the destruction of this rotten CULT. In one final blow, down, down, the mighty, rotten oak tree is falling, never to be missed, or heard from again.

I just realized something about the picture in the above add. It looks to be a "brother" holding his bible, while going door to door, and speaking to someone who has answered the door.

What is one of the biggest things JW's are known for? Going door to door preaching. If things like this newspaper add, and the TV commercials, start scaring the public into thinking a pedophile, or sex abusing predator, may very well be knocking on your, I bet it will cause quite a few heads to turn.

This add seems to not only be an attempt to get financial justice for those abused by the ORG, but also as a warning sign, against the "sexual predator in the suit, holding the bible, that's coming to your door, calling himself a Jehovahs Witness".

The picture speaks a thousand words.

Thoughts on African Americans and Slavery

let's start by saying that slavery is of course a terrible thing, one of the worst crimes imaginable, and that "slavery" rarely implies good treatment, anything noble or defensible.

nowadays, even god doesn't escape judgement from our enlightened views with passages about slavery in the bible usually glossed over because they are shameful.. but not all slavery was equal.. because of the media, movie industry, racial tensions in the us regularly shown on the news and our taught history, i think most people's knowledge and idea of slavery is that of the north atlantic slave trade where white people took africans to work in cotton fields.

this idea is probably also re-enforced because the largest group of descendents of slaves we see today are african americans (usually in the us or places they subsequently migrated to).. but it's incomplete.. it's only when you look into it more that you discover that there was much more to the slave trade than that, otherwise it would have been just called "the slave trade" and not "the north atlantic slave trade".. some 12.5 million slaves were taken from africa to the us with just under 11 million surviving the trip so it obviously took a terrible toll immediately, even before any maltreatment once they landed in the americas where conditions and treatment were truly awful.

During the height of the Roman empire, one third of ALL of its population were slaves. For every 3 people, one was a slave. This is why the Slave rebellion of Spartacus was a serious matter back in ancient Rome. If a third of the population rose up, they would have had quite the impact on the empire, possibly able to collapse it. The Roman leaders, had to be swift, and decisive in its crushing of the rebellion, otherwise their doom was at hand.

While the Roman empire was vast, and encompassed many lands, and peoples, both far and wide, it was still mostly a European empire. Its citizens, and in turn its conquered peoples, were mostly European in descent. Hence, most of its slaves, over a third of its population, were white, Europeans. Yes there were, some black slaves, but most of the Roman, rich, elite class, of slave holders, held European persons as slaves. Even some wealthy, upper class, newly made Roman citizens, of AFRICAN descent, held slaves of white, Europeans.

If we are to believe the account in the bible book of Exodus, we read about a middle Eastern, Egyptian empire, enslaving a whole nation of Jewish people. The more we go back into history, both recent, and ancient, the more we realize that almost all peoples, nations, and ethnic groups, can claim slavery as an injustice that is held in common.

Not only did they SPECIFICALLY mention Jehovahs Witnesses, they ONLY mentioned Jehovahs Witnesses. This is an add aiming for, and ONLY for the BORG.

Its not like they said, " if you are a victim of sexual abuse from a religious organization, please call". NOPE, it was ONLY if you were sexually abused by Jehovahs Witnesses. Evidentally, the law firm must be aware of the horrible policies of the JW's, and its "2 witness" rule, and its protection of PEDOPHILES.

Their sins have amassed high unto the heavens, and now the world is taking note. My, how the mighty have fallen.
