Shot off a TON of Fireworks for the 4th of July, did anybody else?
by Dunedain ini just finally settled down for the night, as its 1 a.m. in the morning, est, right now.
i finally cleaned up my yard a bit, and a few friends that were over have left.. anyway, i bought about $1,000 dollars worth of fireworks to shoot off for the 4th.
i had sooo much sh%t, i didnt think i was gonna shoot anywhere near as much as i did, but, between me and 2 buddies, we shot off like 85% of it.. literally for an hour and a half we were shooting non stop, sometimes 3 or 4 heavy mortars at once, without a break.

I thought about this exact same scenario, except it was 36 years ago, when i was 6 years old, lol. I was a young, born in, indoctrinated 6 year old, raised on the My book of bible stories, talks from the podium, Watchtower mags, and all the other bullsh$t.
Yet, one night, at the tender age of 6 years old, after a little study between me and my 30 something year old, Elder Father, i dropped that "bomb" on my Daddy. I said, well Dad, we should all really be glad that Adam and Eve sinned. Perplexed, he looked at me, and said, Why, what do you mean son?
I said, Well Dad, if they never sinned, we would have NEVER been born. My Father was shocked that i said that. He was not mad, he was not dissapointed. Instead, he was blown away by my 6 year old "logic". It made HIM think, and he told me later in life, that it always stuck with him. He also said, thats when he realized that i was well beyond my years, and that i was thinking more than most biblical, JWs were that were triple my age.
Needless to say, it must have been such an impression, as he is no longer quite convinced that JWs have the "truth" anymore. Now we both have VERY deep conversations, and none of it is tainted thru JW goggles anymore.

Since You Left The Organization Do You Celebrate National and Religious Holidays?
by minimus ini know of people who were disciplined because they observed the fourth of july fireworks celebration.
and i know many people who celebrated thanksgiving but just didn’t call it that because they could get into trouble with the elders.. do you now celebrate birthdays and other holidays or is that something you really don’t care about?
?.

Well, i just shot off a $1000 bucks worth of fireworks in my backyard lastnight, for the 4th, so i would say i "celebrated" it. It wasnt about the birth of my nation, though. It was about having fun. Enjoying the show, and having a few friends over.
I celebrate Christmas with my family, as i have younger children. Its not about Jesus birthday, duh. Its not about anything, but just enjoying the time of year, and the giving of presents, and i LOVE when my kids are happy.
I go to an Easter dinner at my wifes parents house. Its all about the meal for me, and for everyone else, i think. Nobody goes to church, or cares about Jesus being resurrected, or the Easter bunny. Again, its about getting together, and that awesome ham and mashed potatoes.
Dont get me started on Thanksgiving. Its not about remembering the first meal that the settlers shared with the Indians. Its about getting together, and that giant bird, all the mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and a ton of other sh$t. Now i am getting hungry, dammit.
Birthdays, yes i celebrate them too. Its really about the person whos bday that it is. Getting together, and having an enjoyable day. I dont think about astrology, or a head on a silver plate, go figure. Cake though, thats nice.
Funny though, now that i am getting older, i dont care as much for celebrating MY birthday, weird right.
Now, i must admit, and this is probably weird coming from a born in, ex JW, that i am, but my favorite holiday is Halloween. Weird, i know, but i love that time of year. I love scary, dark, eerie things, and Halloween is right up my alley. If you dont believe in the edicts of the religion anymore, then why should i care about a spooky holiday. Its either its all true, or its all NOT true. So if i dont believe in Jah, then i dont belive in Satan either.
Thats my basic stand on most of the holidays. Also, mind you, yes i was a born in JW, and was NOT raised with holidays, but my wife was not a JW, and holidays are normal. Therefore my kids were not raised as JWs and holidays are normal to them. I have been outta the "truth" since my early 20s, over 20 years ago, and i would never push my odd, cult upbringing on them, so i go with the flow.

Oh yeah, it was really fun. I have a very large backyard, that has a cement patio towards the back end of my yard, so it was the perfect spot to shoot em off.
Honestly, i would have never spent $1000 on fireworks, if i couldnt afford it. Its a luxury, for sure, but a luxury i can afford. All the bills are paid, the family wants for nothing, and i can spend $1000 bucks on fireworks, without any issue.
It was a great time.

Literally for an hour and a half we were shooting non stop, sometimes 3 or 4 heavy mortars at once, without a break. It was AWESOME! Plus, i had quite a few neighbors doing it as well, so it was quite the show in my neighborhood.
Whats interesting is that fireworks, meaning anything that explodes, and or shoots into the air, are totally illegal in my state, New Jersey. That being said, where i am, unless the police are actually called, they will not bother you, at least not on the 4th of July. I had to travel to the neighboring state of Pennsylvania to buy all this stuff, but it was worth the trip, and money, and very slight "risk" of purchasing them.
We had an awesome time shooting them off, right in my backyard. I had no small stuff, and "fluff". It was only huge mortars, big and bright, and colorful. No roman candles, no showers, no firecrackers, just the big bad stuff that you usually see in a fireworks show.
I had some double, and triple shot mortars. Had some 500 gram repeaters. Had a ton of the finally style big boxes that fire multiple shots, but with 1 fuse. We would shoot 4 of those off at the same time, plus some double and triples, it was INSANE.
Nobody got hurt, we stopped at 10 o clock, since its a week day, and it lasted about an hour and a half of non stop explosions, lol.
The next phase, will be tomorrow. My wife, and younger daughter were away since Friday, as they went on a trip to visit a nephew in Virginia. Hence, i had the house to myself these past few days. It gave me quite the leeway to go a little nuts tonight, and have my show, with a few friends over. That being said, i have quite the clean up tomorrow, lol. TONS of wrappers, exploded pieces, empty boxes, and burnt paper are all over my backyard. They are coming home tomorrow night, so i will be cleaning up the "evidence" before they get home.
Thank God i put a plastic tarp over my pool, otherwise there would have been a ton of crap in my pool, including gun powder, sand, and sawdust, not good, but at least its not in the pool water.
Anybody else out there have as much fun as i did?

Proof of God
by MrDantastic ini'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.
i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.

People think we have problems now, but they have no idea how BAD things would have been if Hillary had won. It would have been a NIGHTMARE.
Not only would she have been undermining, and destroying every aspect of our country and its freedoms, but you would have had the media not saying a word about it.
We would have been witnessing the collapse of our democracy, all while being told that everything is great. We dodged a bullet.
Trump is doing things, and doing exactly what he said he was going to do, and what he was voted in for. On top of that, he is doing this under CONSTANT attack, scrutiny, and political blockade. Its amazing he is getting anything done at all. Yet, in the short time he has been in office, he has accomplished more than the previous President did in 8 years.
He says what he does, and he does what he says. He is not indebted to any special interest groups or the usual political cronies. He is not swaying with the wind, or changing with the biased pressure that is heaped upon him. He still stands firm to what he believes, and what he was voted in to do.
Let the man do his job. Let him try to make the changes, and accomplish the goals he has, which are in the best interests of this country long term. Instead of fighting him EVERY step of the way, give him a chance, and lets see what he can do.
If he screws it up, then so be it, then get on him. If he is attacked every step of the way, then NOTHING will be done, and it was a waste. Many disagreed with Obama, but he was given the chance to at least try. I feel Trump should have that same courtesy.

The Ultimate Solution to the Mishandling of Abuse within the bOrg
by Wild_Thing ini feel like the world needs to wake up and realize that bethel, the home of the governing body in warwick, new york is the "vatican" of the jehovah's witness world.
their doctrines, edicts, and policies affect every jehovah's witness man, woman, and child around the world.
i don't feel like the politicians in foreign countries understand this.

Very true. You are absolutely right, cut the head of the snake. That head is definitely in Warwick. It used to be in Brooklyn, and it was always in America.
It would absolutely not hurt to get that word out there, and let Leaders in other countries know this, too. It does seem like the many abuses perpetrated by the WTBS are steadily becoming aware to these leaders in countries like Australia, Denmark, England, and the many other parts of the world.
They need to know that change will ONLY happen when the WTBS Popes in Warwick are held accountable, and getting their chains rattled.
Then, of course, we especially need the U.S. government to be aware, first and foremost, so they can launch the biggest investigation.
