I'd like to interject that perhaps as mentioned earlier in this thread that the Jews mentioned to be the 144,000 might be the 'Messianic Jews' of today. These are the Jewish people that, while still adhering to the laws and customs of the OT, do accept Christ as the messiah and follow the NT as well. There is a group of Jews now attempting to re-construct the temple in Jerusalem... the last attempt to start was just yesterday (Oct 4th) and there have been several other attempts that have been canceled out of fear from Muslim backlash. See http://www.templemountfaithful.org/ Many Christians believe that the OT has been fulfilled and it's laws are somewhat muted by the new convenant, but this is not entirely true; for example, some of Daniels's prophechies run along the same time-frame as those in Revelation (yet unfulfilled) and the Messianic Jews are right in believing that the old convenant(s) are still active. Of course, the society has been very quiet on this topic... to the point that I'm a bit surprised that they rarely mention details of the 3rd temple. I bring this up because as far as I can discern, the 3rd temple (and most likely an Isreal/Palestine peace treaty) must be completed before the sealing of the 144,000 occurs. Also note there appears to be a discrepency in the choice of wording in the NWT at Rev 14. The actual Greek work should have been translated 'upon', not above. BTW, I've greatly enjoyed this message forum for quite some time, but have never posted to it before... take it easy on me :)

there is quite a bit of interesting stuff on here, but here is a worthwhile comment made on the 144,000 as they relate to the "fds class" and jw's since 1879. establishes from purely mathematical point of view that the 144,000 cannot be a literal but figurative.
