Misfit yes she is a born in with gungho jw grandmother, parents, especially her mom and sister and bil but never baptized til age 36. She was hopibg i would study and come in with her. But i saw thru their tactics ie. love bombing. She has always gone thru gungho spirts and lulls. The thing is she attends bday functions for her extended nonjw family without me usually because I have to work and she goes without any qualms.
Sometimes our marriage feels normal. But our religious issues has always been the elephant in the room. Then she seems to want to take a stand from time to time and not want to attend my family functions lately.
See it may be because she knows I have talked to my sisters a few years ago about my confusion caused by her gunghoness then lulls. I think that she is mentally strong in the faith but tries not to be obvious about what she really believes. I use to think she was conflicted and naybe she use to be but since she became aware that ive done my own independent research and her hope of me one day possibly becoming a jw was crushed, she has shut down.
Although she has never been open to me about any of her real beliefs. I know everything I know about JW's through my own research. She has never really mentioned anything to me about any of her beliefs. Which is why I feel that I never really knew my wife until I did my research and then my blinders dropped and everything began to make sence. She hid her innerself from me for years and yet I could see she was hiding something but I couldnt put my finger on it.
Well, looking back i think i knew but didnt want to confront the cult personality. When we did have brief conversations about it a she pretty much said to me what is there to say. In other words nothing can be done about it it is what it is.
Its gone on like this for years. Shes a good woman but no ones perfect she has her flaws goo and not all of then i attribute to her religion, just the ones that annoy me.

She ended up going cuz my daughter was relentless. It was nice, very informal but mom enjoyed having most of her 16 grandkids there. I will never understand whyjws can tjrn something so joyful into something negative.

The wife is starting to pull away from my family. Its my fault but I couldnt help it. My fault because for years my sistets were indifferent to my wifes jwness. But when I became informed and educated myself of all things jw, I confided in my sisters as to all I had learned. I did that because I felt like I never really knew my wife and i was confused. The truth is that I didnt want to know the particulars of the JW faith because then I would have had to face that which i wad never ready to. After all we were married so what good can come out of it now. Any how today is my mothers bday bbq and my wife is taking a stand in not going. Im taking our kids though cuz they want to swim, my sister is throwing the bbq and she had a piol but my 9 year daughter kept begging my wife to come. Sigh...

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?
by marriedtoajw init seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.
ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".
is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

since I've never been a JW I don't have the intimate knowledge that you folks may have an inner workings of the organization. most of my knowledge is really second hand or from my own independent research.then I know that many people who are not Christians or even who may be Christian think that too many questions are hypocrites JW or not. I guess I may be stating the obvious but it just seems so confusing how JW's can change their beliefs so easily with just a pronouncement from the governing body and they don't even have to change thier religion.

My wife is never going to wake up.
by marriedtoajw inwhat do you do when you believe in your heart that your spouse is never going to wake up to the tatt?
when you're sick of the cherade of pretending you can deal with the spiritual division when you dont think you can anymore.
when you're convinced that your spouse is so decieved she is lost in a desert and is fine with living by the mirage.

Djs-in all seriouness, dont you think about eternal consequences. See i know what you're saying, i really do and i know that this issue of eternal destiny has enormous power to control people but if true, also has enormous implications that i dont think should be dismissed as fable because of a bad "religious" experience, thats just me. Of course its possible to be religiously unaffiliated and be an incredible human being. One of the reasons i stopped "practicing" my born in religion is because of exactly what you said. Everyone was born into something but to have integrity and to be true to yourself, i think beliefs should be tested. But no one belief system or phylosophy has all the answers either. So how much should one question? How much should one test with this being so. What im saying is that i think people are all enclined to believe whatever they want to believe even when those beliefs can leave questions unasnwered. So the idea that dismissing a religion, faith or God because you can be a good person without submitting to any of those, then you've become your own God of your own world. Although i would agree that having nothing to do with religion, faith and belief in God may have no effect on being a good person, it leaves open the question of are there eternal consequence for what we believe? I've asked myself all of those questions that atheists ask. No religion provides all the answers, but neither does atheism, humanism, indifferentism or good personism. But if there is a God, i know that i will need mercy just as much as you or anyone else.

djs- i know that there are good people in all religions and there are good hearted atheists, that really isnt the point. If you feel that atheism or being an agnostic works for you, fine. But telling me i should raise my kids that way doesnt help at all. In fact, seems to me that the Watchtower has become an atheist producing machine. Makes me wonder if that really is the motive of those who control it for doing what they do.
