I know that all everyone's experience vary but I ask this because I am under the impression that since JW's are taught to avoid reading material that may be critical of their teachings they just stay away. Yet many of you violated this at some point to come accross information that confirmed or convinced you of "the problems" with the org. I have also spoken to active JW's online who seem to know the controvercies but still defend the org vigorously. Awaiting comments...

What do you do when you find yourself flip flopping on doubting?
by marriedtoajw ini've never once ever considered that the jw's were right about anything, slight exaggeration but you know what i mean, until fairly recently.
i think i can see how people get attracted to the jw's.
i've posted here about my struggles with my wife, well things have gotten much worst as many of you seemed to indicate might happen.

king soloman- YES YES YES... I do find myself constantly in denial. I can feel myself knowing and understanding what's hapening but then I revert right back into denial because I don't know what else I can do. I feel as if I'm the only person who can see what my JW family can't see. I mean, what do they think that will happen if the supposed armageddon happens? Do they really think that asteroids or whatever will fall from the sky taking out nonjws and skip that person but get that person and so on??? I mean I know better but my life and family are falling apart. What am I to do???

I've posted here about my struggles with my wife, well things have gotten much worst as many of you seemed to indicate might happen. Although my situation is complicated by the fact that I have very active hardcore hypocritical JW's on my side of the family too, let alone my wifes family. My JW uncle has been reaching out to me more and more the last several months. My father, his brother, passed away when I was 6 and you know what, he looks so much like my dad. It almost feels like my dad is sitting right in front me talking to me so the sentimentality of it all is surreal. He seens to want to make a stronger connection with me as he has invited me to his home for bbq's and such. My father passed away 30 years ago and I've probably had 10 conversations with him through out those years and now all of the sudden he is reaching out to me at a time when things are getting more intense between my wife, her family and I.
My oldest son just turned 21 a couple of months ago and the full court press is on to try to "get him in". I don't believe I can fight it anymore as he is at an age where my influence is getting less and less. I can tell he is being indoctrinated as he is pulling further and further away from me emotionally, spiritually, you name it. He went to stay with his JW grandparents and aunt and uncle in another state for the last month. I know what's going on but my wife is being real hush hush. No doubt they are taking him to meetings and a convention and such. Anyway, I've been financially strained lately with my wife not working, not looking for work while I work 12 hours a day and still falling behind on our mortgage and other obligations. We may lose our home as I don't make enought income to support all of us and the bills. She seems inclined to let it all fall apart but doesn't say a word about it. I try to keep things civil in the home for the sake of our other small children but it's getting more and more difficult. She wont look for a job, not that there is much out there anyway, but you would think that if a woman loved her husband and say him doing so much to keep things going, she might want to step it up a little, if even for just awhile, but that's never been her way.
She's told me in a fit of anger a couple of weeks ago that I don't even know how done she is with me. My daughter heard her and cried herself to sleep that night. Have to fill you guys in later with more details...

As you guys can see I don't post as much as I'd like to. Work hours and little family time don't allow me enough time to do it. As I've stated on some of my previous posts, also under the user name sahara, I still get confused after all of these years being married to a jw. I can't get over how little I really knew about this faith and how I allowed my wife's belief in it to over rule all of my natural instincts to do, I don't know, something. I question what I could have done differently to keep her from getting hooked in like the rest of her family. Intellectually I know that she has to make her own decisions but as a husband, I've struggled with the instincts to protect her from something I think is or will do damage to her. I think she knows very little if anything about the controvercies you are all aware of whether doctrinal or otherwise.
After years of going on summer vacations with my wifes family, all of it came to an end about 3 years ago when I put my foot down about my inlaws studying with my son behind my back. My four kids don't know the signs of love bombing, they just think they're being loved by their grandparents and aunt when we visited them or when my wifes parents visit us, her sister and brother in law haven't visited us in over 4 years, ever since the studying situation. We all use to do so much together but I could feel that it was all fake and I decided to take a stand against the faith and called them on their deception. Now, they could care less about me. How does someone just cut some one off like that because I had the audacity to take a stand.
I just can't get over it, just venting. Thanks...

New World Order Connection
by marriedtoajw ini've heard and read so much conflicting information.
never been a jw and i have only been to a couple of meetings years ago.
what is the watchtowers teaching regarding the "new world order" as you guys were taught?.

So Baltar or anyone else, then the "New World Order" as it has come to be understood has no connection whatsoever with the Watchtower's teachings? I understand that the New World Order is popularly understood to mean that Governments all over the world are controlled by some "behind the scenes" conspirators to secretly lure the world into submitting to a one world government. That it is slowly and methodically being implimented by economics and politics through the Freemasons, Jesuits or Illuminati. Some theories claim they are the same who cary out orders through the direction of "the Pope" or "the Black Pope", ie the secret real Pope also known as the Jesuit General. At least this is one popular theory.
I thought that this is exactly what the Watchtower insinuates in the literature discouraging involvment in "worldly governments" in any way and constantly targeting the Catholic Church with it's Anti-Catholic rhetoric denouncing them as being lead by Satan. I've also researched that Charles Russell was believed to have been involved with Freemasonry as the pyramid and symbols on his gravesite suggest. If this is true, wouldn't that mean that his teachings could have been influence by this experience and thereby influencing the Watchtower Societies teachings today regarding The New Word Order or The New System?

Very interesting read... Tracing the modivations of the WTBTS for such Anti-Christendom stands has lead me to be more open to the Freemasonry, Illuminati connection. As many of you may know, the founding fathers and business leaders of our country were Masons and with all the talk of a "New World Order" and similarities in the hope of "The New System" that JW's have seem pretty creepy to me. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but.... Weelll, I don't know sometimes...

I think that an answer to that question can only be reached if you first ask then answer the question, "when does life begin"? Once that question is answered, then I think most current laws supercede opinions on morality. A can of worms it is...

Did the Watchtower just admit to MIND-CONTROL?
by pharmer inconsider some of the other twisted things used to mislead gods people today.
on occasion opposers will question the various teachings that jehovahs people hold in common.
often this becomes a debate about words, just as it was in the first century.

When I read things like this from the Watchtower, I swear the Org. is mocking outsiders by demonstrating how much control they have over the rank and file because they know the rank and file don't see what we see. It's as if they do it on purpose... "Direct the Minds" is not mind control!!!! How can the rank and file miss that!!!

Watchtower Theology is based on inauthentic foundation: proof texts
by Terry inwatchtower theology is propped up by proof texts.. if the texts are inspired, the watchtower claims it is empowered to reveal the meaning.. but--consider how flimsy, inauthentic and unprovable the foundation of this teaching really is.. .
consider the difference (if any) in meaning between these two renderings.. .
1.all scripture is inspired by god and useful for teaching, reproving and setting things straight.. .

truth_b_known - You bring up an excellent point regarding the Catholic Church who officially recognized what books would be included in the New Testament Canon. I do find it very difficult to imagine an all knowing God would use solely the written word to teach truths while not protecting it from errors, purposeful or otherwise. An all knowing God communicating to mankind would use man, wouldn't he??? This is why I can't understand why people get so upset about "man made religions". Aren't we all human??? Unless God speaks to us in a booming voice decending from where ever he is, it would seem that it would be through man that he would communicate to man, as flawed as all religions may be, as man is flawed and fallen.
