Witnet Refugee
by Prisca inthose of you familar with witnesses.net may have seen me around the site, i've been posting there since early last year, and recently i was a moderator for a short time, before its sudden closure.. i was raised in the truth, daughter of a one-time elder and am a third generation jw.
i have seen a lot of changes in the society, some for the better, many for the worse.. i am now inactive, have not been to a meeting since the memorial earlier this year and not been in active witnessing since january 99.. so i am more out than in, though i have a few family members that are still witnesses, so i try not to put myself in the situation where i could be df'd.
(easy, avoid the elders!

Re: May Jesus forgive me..
by Frenchy inroy, .
your absolution if you have any coming will be from god and not from humans.
your confession needs to be directed toward him and not us.. -seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it-

are you married?
just curious you say you live a productive life.
if its any consolation I dont believe in hell, but then thats
just my opinion,
I am considering the possibility that we may have previous lives tho'
so I'm counting my blessings that I didnt come back as one of your pets this time round,
think you need some serious help on this one, perhaps you should find a councelor/therapist?

Judicial Committee Meetings
by Pathofthorns ini saw this interesting post on h20.
most publishers are unaware how things really work many times in the back room of a kingdom hall.
sure there are lenient elders, many do try to show mercy.

I didnt realise I has any rights, at that time I was very much
under the influence of the jws, I was born one and as far as I knew they had every right to ask me the questions they did, it never occurred to me for one moment that I could say...I'm not answering that!
I had never really had much dealings with the elders in their *official* capacity. I had no control over how many times they came round to the house to encourage me to talk about my sins yet again and repent, although I'd stating quite clearly in my letter that I was asking to be disfellowshipped, I had the elders and my parents
present it was very intimidating,
I was 18 and possess a slight stubborn streak :-)but I would dread to think what that kind of questioning would do to a victim of child abuse, gives me the shudders just thinking about it.

when I wrote my resignationletter I thought that would be the end of it, I hand delievered the letter to an elder that I knew pretty well
he was my friends dad, I had to wait around while he read it
and then I had to answer all his questions (least thats what I thought at the time)
the questioning was very personal and the only question I wasnt asked was *what positions?* I almost volunteered that because I thought it was an oversight.
I left his house thinking that that was the end of it and that
in a weeks time justice would take its course and I'd have my disfellowshipment announced.
I was all but harrassed out of my family home by the repeated visits and repeated questioning, when I moved to new lodgings they turned
up there too.
Its always bugged me that somewhere there is a written record of the questions and answers kept in a cupboard somewhere for anyone who has the title to read at their leisure.
I thought that by writing a letter stating my list of sins that would clarify any areas of doubt for them.
I dont envy anyone going through that kind of inquisition the only way I can describe it is a verbal gang bang.

Witnet closes its Door for good...
by Pathofthorns inkind of a sad but inevitable end to a special and unique place on the net.
free speech is severely limited in the truth, and the wide range of opinion and viewpoint between the old school and the new school i'm sure made operating such a site a challenge.. for me the most facinating thing was the way one could see thinking troubled witnesses contrasted with the ones who were the mindless products of an organization.
i think it was a valuable window into the worldwide picture of what is happening today in the religion.. the site was helpful to me, and for that it holds a special place with me.
