To answer your question: 100% , without a doubt I know that some JW elders secretly consider it possible that the truth is in fact a lie.

Do Some JW Elders Secretly Consider It Possible That They Are Wrong?
by West70 ini recently heard this "experience" from a now "christian" former jw, which has not previously been publicly communicated.
this jw then moved back to their home area (no jw relatives), and simply continued living their already-in-progress non-jw life.
inevitably, this exjw christian started bumping into their jw former associates.

I have a relative who is a CO and thats all he's ever wanted to be. He is also a jerk off, always has been so I am assuming that he is one also to the congs he visits . Though I havent seen them for a few yrs the last time I did I could see how worn out and tired his wife looked.
having to smile all the times even when they feel like *****. It's just not natural. Worse than that, it's emotionally damaging!
Ozzie this describes being an elder too... it is extremely emotionally damaging!

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

that would have to be Yankee Stadium....
Totally agree, Yankee was the worst though I only went to 2 of them it was more than enough. I dont know how the hell they expected people to pay attention in that heat and humidity.
The nicest is Stanley Theater in Jersey City, NJ. Very nicely restored and clean and comfortable. That beauty came at a price though as I had heard from someone at Bethel that when it was restored during the 80's many divorces and adulterous affairs happened since people were working all weekend sometimes without their spouses.

How Long Did it Take You
by XBEHERE ini just looked at my avatar after i made my 500th post here and realized that i have officially signed up on this forum 3 1/2 yrs ago but was lurking for several months prior to that.
now 500 posts isnt that much for over 3 yrs and i am still a jw in "good" standing while so many of you have come here, left, and moved on already.
so how long did it take you to leave after coming here?

I think once you are mentally gone you can only do the motions for so long
Going through the motions is eating me alive, I feel depressed often and feel like such a liar pretending to be what I am clearly not inside anymore. Thanks for the encouragement, at least someone knows of and thinks of my predicament.
How long it takes you depends on what you've got to lose and what your dub entanglements are. I wish you a safe and happy journey. It's wonderful on the other side!
Willyloman this is really the problem, the entanglements, both mine and wife's family are deep in the doo doo. Elders, MS's, Pioneers, CO's... Thanks also for your encouragement. -

But I have a question. I don't understand how the elders would "ass-kiss" the CO and DO. Like, what would they do to kiss ass? I can't think of anything they would do...
I cant speak for other countries or other areas of the U.S. but here its taking them to expensive places for dinner or lunch. Even more crucial for good ass kissing is to show up at every single weekday meeting for service while CO is there even though Brother Elder is never out during the week the rest of the 5 1/2 months the CO isnt there. Then they will try to work with the CO during the week to talk trash about the other elders or servants and I know for a fact that they do this because CO tried to pry info out of me on several occasions by asking skilled, pointed questions...i.e. "so what do you think of the quality of your meetings? Do the elders prepare well?" or "So do you think your territory is being covered well enough, do the friends have territory available?" These questions are designed to allow the elder being asked to say nothing or to blast the elders for not preparing properly or to implyt that the Service Overseer isnt doing a good job and should be replaced. These are just 2 examples, there are many more questions CO can ask.
Also popular for ass kissing is excessive commenting at the WT Study and Bookstudy for the week CO is there. Arriving 20-30 minutes before congregation meetings start even though this same elder usually strolls in during the song. I can go on but I think you get the point yes?

Getting married in the kingdom hall ( ..."have you had sex?")
by slimboyfat in.
we plan to get married in the kh in the autumn.
will the elders quiz us as to whether we have had sex beforehand?.
-

Its left to the person giving the wedding talk to ask or not, most do. Make him feel uncomfortable and ask him to define sex for you.

"Help! my dad is watching Pornography" Cries of a JW teen.
by Dune inas some of you may know, i'm still an active witness and i'm still in the planning stages of my "escape".
i met a sister at a district convention a year ago and i've been talking to her on aim for a while.
i think she is very amusing considering that she is very intelligent and often voices her views on the doctrinal falicies of the wtbs, but when its my turn to give my two cents she makes it seem as if i'm the only poztate.

I'd tell her to leave it alone, it is between her mom and dad not her business. At the last elders school the WTS made it possible to have a judicial committee for ones who view pornography. They use this scripture:
***
Rbi8 Ephesians 4:19 ***19
Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness. So if it can be determined that he was behaving greedily while viewing porn and or tossing off he could be subject to judical action. Further it was stated that if the type of pornography viewed was especially depraved (examples given at our school were child porn, homosexual porn) then he would be working uncleanness with greediness.
This is the new buzz word now since internet porn has become so accessible and prevalent. Gone are the days where JWs had to sneak to a 5 & 10 or Seven11 to buy or look at playboy, penthouse, hustler, Oui, etc.

Did you know any JW's elder that committed Aldutery and was not removed?
by booker-t indo you know of any jw's elder that committed adultery but still remained as an elder?
do you think that the other elders swept it under the carpet?

It really depends on how "politically" connected that particular elder is to the CO and the rest of the body. Or if exposing him would be a good political move for one or more of the other elders, in this case they would stab him in the back so fast he wouldn't feel it coming. Generally speaking though I think we would be fooling ourselves if we think that all bodies of elders cover up these things amongst each other, personally I think its uncommon. Oftentimes elders treat each other worse than the rest of the congregation if you can believe that!

I think most JWs dated worldly people while growing up, how can you not. I also used to drink on occasion though didnt really care for beer until I was older. I did develop a taste for vodka though since you can magically mix it with orange or cranberry juice and totally not taste it. Within a year or 2 of all of this I was an MS, pioneering and then at bethel....ahhh bethel, let the drinking begin! Come to think of it, I am leading a double life right now since I am an unofficial "apostate".
