Just stay home. Nobody cares!
Not entirely true.. if its right before a CO visit the elders care.
got to shave, got to dress, got to sit through crap, got to answer up and smile and greet.
it is 6.30pm on a tuesday night... here we go again.
why do i have to go to the meetings!

i ran across this the other day and it caught my eye.. w85 12/1 pp.
6-7 righteousness before god
neither catholic nor protestant "justification".
Typical speak out of the 2 sides of their mouths. "whats isnt good for you is ok for us because the F&D Slave says so" screw what the bible says.
text of article on page 3 of the usa kingdom ministry for july:.
title: they have set an example of faithfulness.
the year 1937 witnessed the beginning of a new avenue of full-time service--the special pioneer activitiy.
"Special" Pioneers.... so much for not having titles.
i met a married couple caught up in the recent bethel layoffs.
they are a fairly young couple in their mid to upper 30s, i didn't think to ask which department they worked in before being laid off.
the couple was driving cross country from new york to california, and stopping overnight at jw homes along the way.
I am happy but also said to hear about this. Happy that there will be more "disgruntled" ex-bethelites out in the "real" world, to enlighten more JWs not happy that these poor people need to start over though. At least when I got out I was young enough to weather some bad times and move on. These people, epecially the older ExB's, will struggle.
early sunday morning, around 1:30 a.m., my wife wakes me and says that she can't sleep and needs to talk with me.
i say ok and she proceeds to tell me that she wants a seperation.
i was hurt, but not shocked, because our relationship is not that close at this point after 14 yrs of marriage.
This same, exact scenario is exactly whats holding me captive! Best of luck to you man.
<div>hi i am in the middle of writing some memoirs of my time on the travelling work.
well anyone be interested in reading them?????
i have some heavy editing to do to protect identies and the like, but i should be finished at the end of the week.
Bring 'em on and welcome to the forum.
a lot has been said lately about bethel downsizing and here is what i believe the true story is.. watch where the money is and where it goes.
a lot of large company's now are doing two things to maximise profits and bolster the bottom line.. downsizing the amount of people they did gives them extra money and real estate space (yes people are a liability even when small) and the potential to flip real estate in nyc.
the second stage is outsourcing jobs...think it can't happen??
ANYHOW, she said her 11 year old daughter is planning to go to Bethel!!!! I was like, WTF?!?!? I tried telling her they don't even accept 'sisters' and that Bethel is downsizing but she assurred me Bethel is accepting even single sisters over the age of 18!!!
They are still promoting Bethel service as a "carrot" for young ones so this does not surprise me. They just want young ones to be more wrapped up in the cult so that its more difficult to escape from it once they realize that something is rotten.
Generally I try to believe in it... but at the DC last weekend I wandered a bit while in the book of genesis and came across the account where Lots daughters plot to get him drunk and "preserve offspring" from their father.
Nevermind the fact that it may or may not have really happened... why the heck was it written down?? Certain things I still can't wrap my brain around.
so after over 4 yrs i finally read the book...i had a lot of my suspicions confirmed especially with all the doctrinal matters such as 1914, this generation, alternative service, etc.
the fact that the gb actually considered all of these things and almost voted for change on some of them but ultimately did not because of not having 2/3 majority is disgusting!
the malawi/mexico hypocrisy is appalling to say the least.
Does anyone know if the GB still needs 2/3's majority on issues at hand? This is not the case with regular bodies of elders and I find this very intereting. The CO is very insistent that when issues come up they should be unanimous, especially for appointments and deletions of servants and elders. Otherwise majority rules and the ones in the minority are often requested to write a letter as to the reason why so the CO can attach it to the report he sends in. Wether or not this is enforced depends on the CO.
I still cant get over how completely relevant CoC is today though written 20+ yrs ago. This just goes to show that things HAVE NOT changed in the WTS even though many of the GB members mentioned in it are now dead. They are still goverened by legalism, pharisaical rules and regulations and a lack of love.

The complacency and lackadaisical attitude they displayed in considering all these issues is reminiscent of any typical body of elders but they have people lives at stake even more so and that is terrible.
The chapter "point of decision" hit me like the proverbial "ton of bricks" I still am reeling from how the witchhunt went down in 1980, what sickened me the most was how these so-called pillars of truth.. these "glorious ones" taking the lead in the WT org, the GB behaved like any typical body of elders. Backstabbing, polictics, lack of communication, evasiveness... this more than anything else convinced me that Ray Franz wrote exactly what happened to him without embelishment because these are the same atttitudes that prevail today. Say what you will about the man but he speaks the truth.
Thank you Mr. Franz
