This isnt necessarily bad but lately I've been sending txt messages and emails from my smartphone to co workers and friends during the meetings. Beats listening to the crap coming from the stage.

Worst Thing Youve Done In A Meeting?
by chuckie77 inwhats the worst thing youve done during a meeting?
years ago, when i was a bit more wicked/naughty/younger than i am now, i thought i would take some drugs just prior to the meeting to see if it would make things any more interesting.
it didnt, but at least i enjoyed the kingdom melodies tapping my foot to the beat and bopping my head!!

Does a bear poop in the woods? So much depression in JW land. I am sure many of us here had typical manic depressives, senility, etc. etc. The sad thing is that many of these people know that they need help and dont seek psychiatric help. They'd rather eat herbs and do body cleanses instead.

Rules you broke?
by KW13 in.
what rules did you find, you couldn't help breaking as a witness?.
i swore sometimes, got me and a mate drunk, copied software e.t.c (caesars things to caesar), celebrated a birthday/christmas or two...went against some stuff we were told not to do in the young people ask book...erm.... how about you?

Heavy drinking/got drunk; avid interest in politics; masturbated; positions in and out of bed other than missionary; attended the odd strip club; Xmas morning visit my parents; drank and toasted peoples good health; wished people happy birthday/happy new yera; merry xmas; read apostate literature; watched porn on the internet and video/DVD
Stilla we should hang out sometime... seem as if we have some similiar interests. I recently started saying "bless you" to people at work when they sneeze. It felt so awkward at first, so sad the cult damaged mind is!

How many meetings could you miss in a row and no questions asked?
by JH in.
how many consecutive meetings could you miss without the elders making a funny face next time they saw you?.
usually if i missed 3 meetings in a row or if the elders didn't see me for a whole week, it would show on their face at the next meeting.. then if i attended 3 in a row, their smiles came back.

Since I am still an elder then I could miss maybe 2 then they'd be checking on me. After reading CoC and In Search of Christian Freedom I faked illness and missed almost 2 wks worth because I had to digest what I had read, I had elders calling me pretending they were concerned after I missed my 2nd TMS and Service Meeting.... finally I gave in and went since the wife was getting suspicious.

Lets go to the church but stand outside
by Wordly Andre ini am so sick of this!
i have a split family, some non-jw and some jw, and ever since i was a young kid, ive noticed this silly fear of entering a church, i remember i must have been about 9 years old when my uncle died and my family went to the funeral, but we stood outside, and even at that young age i remember it felt wrong, like we were disrespecting my dead uncle and his family.
like ive wrote on this board before, i told my parents when at 15 i didnt want to go to meetings anymore and was never baptized, when i was 18 my great uncle died and at the funeral i went into the church for mass, when it was over i walked outside all the rest of my family were outside waiting, they all gave me dirty looks like i was just caught with a prostitute.

Sounds as if they were doing that to make a statement to you. In print anyway, attending funerals and weddings in churches are a conscience matter as long as you dont participate in any way shape or form in the worship service so they could have gone in. Of course other JW's who found out would look down on them, particularly if one of them is a precious elder, ms, or pioneer. You know how judgemental they are..
While an elder I have been to several weddings and funerals in churches and I could've cared less but I did make a point not to tell anyone we went. Your family could've done this as well but seems as though they wanted to make a point to you.

Elders/MS, what would you do?
by Sacchiel ini understand there are active elders and ministerial servants on these boards.
if a witness spoke with you in private about doubts/questions they have about wts doctrine or the like, would you encourage that person to continue investigating?
what if that witness outright declared the organization as a wicked or not directed by god?.

I'd tell them that its ok to have doubts as we all do from time to time but that he should avoid anything that could contribute to his spritual, emotional health being affected... in other words I would take the p***y way out since obviously if I agreed with his doubts and encouraged them there would be a chance he'd turn me in and I am not ready for that at this time.

Good for you Mini. After the Watchtower Library CDROMS started coming out...1993? 1995? I stopped getting the bound volumes, stopped collecting the stupid Km's and the last time I moved I packed the WT books up and now they are in the attic collecting dust. I wish I kept that stupid Revelation Climax book out though, never thought we'd be studying that again!

It was 99 degrees in the NY Metro Area yesterday with a dewpoint of 72. If you opened the door it was like opening an oven to check on something baking.

What Type Of Congregation Were You In ???
by minimus inthe older i get, the more i appreciate serenity and tranquiity.

we had persons that believed they were always being victimized. Then there were the "cause finders", ones who always looked for a cause to rally around, as in pointing how Sister Deprived never gets attention and the elders aren't doing their job so they become the congregation's moral guardians......What was your Hall like????
Exactly my current congregation. Its as if you are secretly in my cong Minimus.
