I completely agree, they are totally boring. Imagine having to give talks and service meeting parts about this same crap over and over, year after year... that may be worse than listening to it.

Meetings are BORING!
by 5thGeneration inwhy do the brothers take such offense when someone says that the meetings are boring?.
i can't possibly fathom how people who have been going to the meetings for decades can sit at the kh and listen, for example, to yesterday's wt study for an hour about adam and eve, cain and abel, how we are all allowed to pray, blah, blah, blah... and not be bored out of their minds!.

Its really just your typical WT propaganda after the brief business meeting. Epxeriences from different parts of the world on how good the preaching work is doing. The GB and some other "heavy's" give talks. Thats about it.

How Come So Many Bethelites Leave The Organization
by ilovemusik inhello i'm new here but i've been reading the things on this db for quite some time.
i am still an active witness, but i've been having doubts for quite sometime and have been looking into the background of the organization, very shocked at what i'm finding.
since i lived next to headquarters and had a lot of bethelites in my congregation, i was shock to learn (not only on this db) that so many bethelites who leave bethel also end up leaving the organization.

Its a comfortable place...why put things in jeopoardy???
I agree and I think that many Bethelites see the "religion" for what it really is while there but why "bite the hand that feeds you" so to speak. Once you leave all bets are off. I was there for 3 yrs and I liked it, lots of good friends, nice area of Brooklyn... the drinking, hanging out Friday and Saturday nights watching TV and movies. Whats not to love if you are a young single guy. While there I saw and heard a lot of things coming out of bethel elders mouths that would have sent the average Joe JW reeling. But I also brushed it off as imperfection. -

CO says, "people accuse us of not believing in Jesus!"
by truthseeker inis he right or wrong?.
during his talk, the circuit overseer asked what kinds of negative information get spread about jehovah's witnesses.
of course, the question was rheoctorical, the audience didn't answer.

(Hebrews 1:5-6) 5 For example, to which one of the angels did he ever say: "You are my son; I, today, I have become your father"? And again: "I myself shall become his father, and he himself will become my son"? 6 But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: "And let all God’s angels do obeisance to him."
Obeisance=worship so therefore the Angels who the bible states are higher life forms than us worship not just Jehovah but Jesus as well. Whats the JW's excuse for not doing the same then?

How many people were happy to see you knock at their door in the FS?
by JH in.
why?.
i had good news for them ......

Not too many... I guess it depends on the general demeanor of the people in the area you live in as well as how the person's mental state is at the moment. In general I find that most people dont even want to bother with JWs, they are at best an annoyance to be excused away. In my area you do get the occasional "I dont want that shit" or "Get the f**k out of my yard" but usually we get the annoyed look and "I'm not really interested" as if shooing away a fly.

What's The Dumbest JW Belief?
by minimus ini have to think believing in the blood doctrine has to be the dumbest, especially because accepting the watchtower view can kill you.

Blood and turning in reports to the elders every month... they cant justify turning in reports scripturally no matter how hard they try

elders and alcohol
by chuckyy inwhen i was an elder most of the rest of the body drank like fish, some would regularly get drunk and it was always ignored.
then these very same elders would reprove a young lad for excessive drinking!
was there similar hypocrisy in your cong????.
-
XBEHERE
Yes with a few of the elders, myself included there for a while until I stopped cold turkey because I realized that becoming a drunk wouldnt get me out of the WT the way I wanted to exit. I have a feeling many elders douse themselves in ethanol to deal with being an elder.

The May 2002 broadcast of the Dateline NBC special on JW pedophiles. The evidence was overwhelming that the WT wasnt handling these cases in a loving, christian way when Bill Bowen called the WT legal dept and taped the conversation "... if there is no confession then leave it alone, Jehovah will bring it out" Something like that...
That made my skin crawl... I figured what else could they be doing wrong, 4 yrs later they are doing a whole lot wrong I came to find out.

Just after noon today, I called the Brothers in Brooklyn writing dept.
about this, just finished a long conversation with them.I think the writing dept is in Patterson, NY now. Also does he know someone in writing? Normally those kinds of calls go to the service dept or public relations if its a news agency.
