  If you are an individual that still attends meetings, how do you keep yourself insulated from the Watchtower's propaganda? I day dream during the talks and WT study ,and dont comment besides the occasional "Jesus was a fine example that all christians should strive to imitate". When out in service I pretend to ring the doorbell and never do RV's on anyone. I dont allow my mind to get sucked in and quite frankly its like watching a bad movie every week... just sit thru it and thats it.

  Did You Think Elders Should've Been Able To Be "Elders For Life"?

  some of the stupidest witnesses are elders.

  i've known more than a few that were basically "nice guys" but as dumb as a stump!

  some never knew when to keep quiet and the other elders always had to cover for them.

  Elders are a mixed bag some are idiots and some genuinely try to help. I agree that they should be reviewed from time to time since I know many strive to get there then just slack off. I am slacking off right now though still an elder. I've been missing meetings left and right, dont comment much anymore, seldom show up for service. This has been going on for months and finally, recently another elder approached me and said hey your attendance seems to be improving (it isn't but I guess he had to start conversation somehow) and said that nobody really has noticed me missing so many meetings so just intergrate back in and you'll be good again......

  too bad- some folks here did a calculation and said that evin if all dubs placed all their tracts they'd only cover 300 million of the earth's inhabitants (mainly in western lands where people toss them straight in the garbage), thus only reaching a maximum of 4 1/2 % of the earth's population... .

  i think many publishers, inflamed with zeal, get packet after packet of 50 tracts each for "placement in the ministry".

  In my congregation the elders told everyone to leave the tracts discretely at not-at-homes so some people are placing hundreds of them. Its easy service, you go to the door knock, leave them the tract and move on. I think this campaign is more to get people who hate service out than anything else.

  New Tracts fill Recycling bins

  i thought the jws would never visit my appartement bloc...but they finally did.. i came home yesterday night to find one of the new tract folded a few times and inside my mailbox.

  i was really excited of course, but a bit dissapointed that i wasn't there to get it directly from them.

  i looked around the other boxes, and it seems like the dubs just left one to everyone without even trying to knock.

  This stupid campaign is a complete waste of time. The way we were told to just leave it at the door even if nobody comes and count that house as "worked" on the territory is a complete lie. Its just a way for a lot of congregations who have unworked territory to claim that they are done now. And do they really expect people to read that garbage after finding it under their doormat? I havent even read it myself yet.

  Awesome show! One of the things that I dont understand is what does Claire (the Cheerleader) have to be saved from? Isn't she indestructible? Can possibly Sylar be the only one that can "kill" her and this is building up to a May sweeps showdown between him (likely a very strong super villian) and the rest of them?

  He must have been well connected. Typically City Overseers are used as "Fixers and cleaners" by the society and CO's but many I knew were washed out elders who couldn't do anything else so the CO threw them a bone.

  Then of course there are subcategories to many of the above. If you are an elder, member of the Service committee and a bethelite or pioneer then your "stock" goes up. If you are an MS and also a bethelite or pioneer then in some cases you may be even more "famous" then some elders without one of the big assignments. Anymore you can think of?

  For a religion that touts itself to be fully christian,clergy class free and non discriminatory they sure do like to categorize people. Its quite an oppressive social structure in the WT and its all based on working or your salvation despite the bible saying that life is a "gift from god"
