A Bethelite (son of a friend of mine) told me that they are working on them but they are delayed.

Did your congregation have a "Pioneer Appreciation Day"?
by Coffee House Girl inmy mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .
i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.
chg. .

What blondie said but in my congregation they make you (the elder) super guilty if you don't go. Even though the outline instructions state that 2 elders will conduct the meeting but other elders may also attend if they wish to. Same stupid, drivel served up every year study more, reach people's hearts, plan your time wisely, follow cong. arrangements, etc. etc.
The elders use that stupid outline as an excuse to get together with their wives, pioneers, pioneers husbands (usually also minsterial servants) and have a group "orgy" of brown nosing and butt kissing.

Do you think that the WT has gotten stranger as time goes by or is it that with distance comes perspective?
by 4thgen inthe preaching the jw.org thing is so strange.
the two generations "new light" is crazy.
but then again i look back at some of the things i believed and taught wonder 'what was i thinking'?

Do You Consider Yourself An "Apostate"?
by minimus ini don't.. i consider myself a truth teller.. the watchtower society appears to be more "apostate" than even "christendom"..

How Long Have You Been Viewing Thiis Site? Does It Serve Its Purpose For You?
by minimus ini've been here forever.... this site still gives us some of the most up to date info about jws .
it keeps evolving.
sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.

Over 11 years here, and the purpose for me is to ensure that I do not get wrapped up in the lie once again while I wait to muster up the courage to leave once and for all.

Appointed by holy spirit

it amazes me at what many have said.
perhaps i have misunderstood what they were saying.

Bottom line is the sheep (the "loyal" sheep) are made to believe that what the elders say issues forth from God via his "appointed channel". You can quote whatever you want, say whatever you want, claim that there is no class system in the WTS but the preception is that the elders are in charge, with the Coordinator being the head elder (yes they have tried to change this but it hasn't really) and the CO is in charge of the elders.. so on and so forth. Up to our glorious mediator's to god, the GB. Oh and this whole system is approved by God so just shut up and deal with it.

They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"
by XBEHERE ina friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.
as regards pursuing higher education?
the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

A friend of mine recently had his CO visit and in the elders meeting the CO out-right asked the question: How are the friends doing in your cong. as regards pursuing higher education? The CO continued...You know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers. Are parents being spiritually minded on making decisions about their children's future?
My friend said that the CO went on for 30 minutes with elders interjecting their thoughts on this certain brother or sister. Peppered by comments from the CO about how its a waste of time. Now my friend is a staunch JW and even he was taken aback by it. He has kids that are in High School so he is beginning to struggle a little with this issue. Anyway the point he took away from this is they are on the offensive with education. Do not expect to remain an elder, ms, or pioneer if you or your wife or kids want to better themselves by going to college. He said the whole tone seemed like the branch office was asking the CO's to put feelers out and try to determine how to attack this growing problem. I said ok, and when my visit comes up I would let him know what he says to us.
My take on it, expect a D.C. talk about it to followed up by a direct Watchtower outlining the evils of pursuing a higher education. I know they have been hammering at this for a while now but this is the first time in the 20 yrs that I have been serving that a CO directly asked about this subject. Lets see how this all plays out.

Christmas Field Service
by NeverKnew inon another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?
...or do most halls stay neutral on this?
given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..

most jws I knew hated it and only went out if assigned to take the group
This has been my experience in most of the congregations that I have been in. I personally think it is inconsiderate and ridiculous for JWs to even expect people to give a rats ass about what they have to say on any holiday..

A bona fide Circuit Overseer endorses jw.net!
by abiather inthough he is a typical wt slave, we are like david and jonathan.. in my most intimate conversation with him, i asked him:.
how do you manage serving an organization built on inherent contradictions?.
he said: organization helps people to grow spiritual, like any other religious organizations do.

In the meantime he is continuing to live a lie and a pretense. Also, the fact that he remains in a position of authority influences others to remain part of the organization, an organiztion he apparently knows to be filled with contradictions and false teachings.
This is just wrong
This is also me... I confess. I keep telling myself its for my family that I stay. However it is really out of fear and cowardice.
