  Marriage Consummation - emailed question has me stumped

  i received an email from a jw that got married, but the wife never had sex with him.

  they were together for a period of years.

  he told the elders, but they said there was nothing that could be done.

  Did You Ever Learn Anything From The Meetings?

  i found the meetings to be especially boring from the late 1980s on.

  before that, we actually tried to make people want to listen.

  the meetings were pretty interesting.

  Occasionally a decent speaker will give a public talk that is pretty good, they might bring out sound scriptural counsel that is actually beneficial not doctrinal. These are very rare...once a year if that.

  Beyond this... lol are you fcuking kidding! Most people in attendance at meetings are asleep while their eyes are open... sometimes not even open.

  Sunday School etc....

  i have never understood why the jw's did'nt have a sunday school or some kind of educational thing going for children.

  it seems pretty selfish and antiquated.. i remember growing up, i was terrified of "satan" and "the demons".

  not forgetting the "jehovah is watching you" crapola.. i think it's wrong letting young kids listen to fairly adult themed talks, items etc....it's got to affect them mentally.. any thoughts?.

  We were talking about this once and an elder said that there is no provision for this because in ancient Israel all of god's people met together at the festivals and assemblies. Additionally there is no mention of first century christians doing this therefore, we follow those patterns today.

  And yes I agree its antiquated and stupid.

  Did your congregation have a "Pioneer Appreciation Day"?

  my mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .

  i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.

  What blondie said but in my congregation they make you (the elder) super guilty if you don't go. Even though the outline instructions state that 2 elders will conduct the meeting but other elders may also attend if they wish to. Same stupid, drivel served up every year study more, reach people's hearts, plan your time wisely, follow cong. arrangements, etc. etc.

  The elders use that stupid outline as an excuse to get together with their wives, pioneers, pioneers husbands (usually also minsterial servants) and have a group "orgy" of brown nosing and butt kissing.

  Over 11 years here, and the purpose for me is to ensure that I do not get wrapped up in the lie once again while I wait to muster up the courage to leave once and for all.
