No. Just imagine a bunch of people here trying to hold together an organized group. Many here still have so much anger, resentment, and many (myself included) are socially awkward, it would be chaos. One thing I hand it to the WT is that they do know how to organize and oversee

Would You Become A JW Again If Local Congregations Could Become Independent?
by Space Madness infor those who still believe in god, if local congregations could break away from the watchtower would you consider becoming a witness again.
this would mean no more governing body, circuit overseers, watchtower magazines, and each congregation could have its own "new light".
most of us left because of the control (no college, disfellowsipping) but if the watchtower was out of the picture, all of this would disappear.

How Many Had Chronic fatigue syndrome?
by OnTheWayOut inchronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.

When I was at Bethel this was a relatively new (at the time) buzzword for sisters especially. That and Carpal Tunel Syndrome. We all thought that a lot of them were dropping those conditions so that they could get transferred out of cleaning. I know now that they are real conditions but explain to me how waking up at the same time as usual and sorting mail, sitting at a front desk answering phones, etc. is better for CFS? Not sure

QFR August 15, 2014 - Resurrection and Marriage
by wisdomfrombelow inthe article addressed luke 20:34-36 and now they finally admit jesus could have been referring to the heavenly resurrection.
they said "put simply, the answer is that we cannot say" which is surprising because they have something to say about everything.
perhaps all the old people who are waiting the new world as widow and widowers want to know if they have a chance to be reunited with their dead loved one.

That article, as well as others in the past still havent addressed the wording of Luke 20:34-36. I have always wondered, if they are supposed to be "like angels" then what about those horny angels during noah's time?
So these ressurected ones will still have urges and desires for sexual satisfaction just as those angels did right?

Good luck with telling the wife. In my situation, and in many ways my wife has no interest in the actual JW religion. She can't explain doctrines and frankly doesnt care. However if I am at all negative towards the "society" she clams up, "ok.. I dont want to hear that.."
She is more of what I'd call a Social Jehovah's Witness. If anything were to threaten that social status then its bad.

I decided to give Crisis of Conscience another read (its been about 11 yrs). This interesting quote stood out
The Scriptural arrangement
of bodies of elders had been summarily ended in 1932 by Judge
Rutherford due to a lack of cooperation on the part of some elders
with the Society’s programs and policies. page 26
Hmm.. and the chapter continues that it was changed back in the early 70's due to research for the Aid to Bible Understanding book. I wonder if this is what's motivating some of the recent changes Such as the CO now appointing and deleting elders and ms
Because of the lack of cooperation of some elders and perhaps CO's and DO's. Anyway read that before but never really stood out to me.

Hello- new here
by Kikura inbeen lurking for a while on here and thought i'd jump in.
a great deal of many thoughtful posts on here but have to say am a bit turned off with the 'rabid apostate' ones!.
my history- was raised in a divided household, mum converted to jw when pregnant with me back in 1970, dad was never jw but was supportive of taking us to meetings, assemblies etc.

Welcome Scott. There is a lot of anger and resentment still with many, myself included, however don't let it bother you or stop you. There are many, many nice people here who are understanding and are good listeners. Enjoy the forum.

How Do Elders Feel About Their Position In The 21st Century?
by minimus inwhen i was appointed as an elder, i was very proud of my accomplishment in the theocracy and actually believed that jehovah god appointed me and that i would prove to be an excellent society man and maybe even make it to circuit overseer!.
how silly, huh??.
fast forward to 35 years later, and i wonder how many appointed men truly love their positions and duties.. any appointed men want to give their opinion on that?

There will always be elders around such as yourself 35 years ago but I have noticed, at least in my area, that the respect for elders has declined. When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's they were "the elders" respected, feared in some cases. Now so many publishers are flippant, unresponsive, and apathetic and I don't blame them. We were supposed to be in paradise by the mid 90's after all then they changed the generation doctrine what 3 times since then??
For me I remain as such because its just easier to keep up appearances and the wife likes that I have "status" lol... personally I could give a rats ass.

How to become an MS in no time
by Batman89 inthe method i used lol.
1) be a good servant and make sure your wt and pub are always underlined every meeting(great for appearances).
2) comment every meeting(a "sure way" to know someones "spiritually qualified").

Good list, except now you have to add go out in service with the CO when he comes around and make insightful comments on the condition of the congregation. Make sure you mention that you really wish there was more you could do to assist the busy elders. This of course is more applicable after September 2014 which is when they are in charge of appointments and deletions.
