Are there any new ideas coming from the Watchtower Society?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy brother ( who is an elder ) tries very hard to get me back to the meetings.
he calls me every time he and his son ( he's also an elder) give a public talk.

2013 New World Translation
by Jerome56 inon their website in the video "organizational accomplishments" watchtower devotes this segment to praising the superiority of the new world translation.
about half way through, david splane relates the reason for a change in wording from the old 1984 nwt reference bible to the 2013 revised nwt.
he said this was because of the recent discovery of an older manuscript that contained the greek word for overseer that was unavailable when the reference bible was being compiled.

Perhaps they changed it to prepare for all of the 21-24 year old elders being appointed moving forward from this years letter to all bodies. "Older men" would be a harder sell on the R&F I think. It still is but PIMI's will fall in line anyway. -

25/30 complex bethelites...
by silentbuddha ini was wondering if there are any other former bethelites who worked in this complex during the late 80s and 90s who are on this board.
i am asking because it appears this specific set of people seemed to have or experience the worst aspects of that hell hole and i wanted to see if there are any others.

Putting 10 hours a month on your report with a "balanced ministry" (a handlful of RV's and "placements") which if you have kids would include a "family study" helps enormously.
The above quote is the most important. Lots of emphasis on a "balanced ministry" I knew of one bro who regularly had 10-15 hrs plus in ministry but no RV's. CO shot appointment down. 6 mos and 3 rv's later and he was appointed. Stupidest thing I've ever seen. Based on that he is qualified now to rule the lives of the sheep? Because he visited 3 people at least once a month that likely were not even interested and probably used the WT mags to cover the bottom of their parakeet's cage.

Slang or Terms Only Used by Bethelities
by new boy inthere are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.
there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.
here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.

As unreasonable as it is, the protesters message was discounted heavily by those in attendance
Exactly correct. My JW cousin has a friend in that Congregation (its in Northern, NJ BTW) and he was going on and on about how they all thought it was ridiculous and a waste of time. He said that after they all left the meeting continued on without missing a beat.
Still if even 1 person is caused to start thinking it totally was worth it.

Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?
by slimboyfat inrecent developments make me think they might be.
the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.
one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

All these comments are great and pretty much what I see going on in the area that I live in. The problem is when the CO comes around he still spews forth the same old tripe....make bible studies, follow up on interest, be adaptable, go out at different times, etc, etc blah blah.
So JWs who are on the fence about the org feel guilty all over again and suffer from nostalgia. They go out more, restart their always failing Family Worship until the fire burns out. Then time for another CO visit. This is likely the reason that they kept the CO's in place and even gave them more power.
