Pioneer, MS, Bethelite, Elder- as Secretary, Service Overseer, and finally brief stint as PO several years ago. Was also used for appeal committee's occasionally by CO. Such a massive waste of f***ing time.

Besides the usual drivel there were a couple interesting things.
1. An entire 1 hour discourse on helping our children become little innocent martyrs for the WT via
their flawed and unreasonable blood doctrine. They really hit this hard, prepare your children to
respect the sanctity of blood by coaching them on the scriptures that "prove" we shouldn't have
transfusions. Crossing out verbage on hospital admission forms before signing them. The speaker
went on and on. I mean really, are they serious with this??
2. Bashing college (higher education) every chance they got. Even to the point of listing for a series of questions
that the other elders would ask if a child of an appointed man were to have children go to college. They did a total 180
on their "policy" and are 100% against higher education in any form.
The WT is really pushing it with that blood doctrine. A tutorial on how to allow your children to die.... lol. come on!
I think ISOCF said it the best(paraphrasing): God wants us to santify the representation of life( blood) more than life itself. In other words
your childs picture is more important than your actual child and you are to honor it above the child. Now thats logical isnt it??

Wow this board is still quite active!
by XBEHERE ini was an anemic poster but avid reader of this forum back when it was jehovahs-witness.com.
i stopped a few years back due to certain circumstances in my life.
one good thing that benefited me is that i had a break from being an elder (which was awesome) but i foolishly gave in to peer pressure from my wife and others to accept re-appointment, i know what an idiot!

You'd have a high tolerance for B/S too if the alternative was listening to your brainwahsed, all be it, misguided wife asking you constantly to reach out again everyday. No WoW, play Fight Night, Vindictus (MMORPG).

Special PO School
by XBEHERE inanyone attend?
what was disscussed?
i am not an elder anymore much less a po but i am still curious.
-
XBEHERE
Well its still a Km school but for some inexplicable reason the PO's are being invited first then the rest of the "regular" elders. So much for class distinctions being non-existent in the org. My current PO showed me his invitation to it. Apparently they have to go to Paterson, NY and live there for a week while attending it.

How the Circuit Overseer Manipulates the Body of Elders
by TMS inthe relationship between local elders and the circuit overseer has fluctuated over the years.
in the sixties, .
the circuit overseer simply appointed all the servants.

OnTheWayOut,
What you described is how it is most of the time with appointments. Our unanimous reccomendations were talked down by the CO all the time and yes the "kiss asses" usually said something like "... you know now that I reason on it, it is too soon" or some B.S. like that. Holy spirit plays no role in appointments of MS's and elders.

What Did You Actually Do At Meetings?
by minimus inwere you a note taker?
did you truly listen??
were you a daydreamer?
-
XBEHERE
currently, if I go, I daydream or pretend to look at the information board several times. I also go to the bathroom multiple times.

As A Witness, What Were Your Aspirations?
by minimus inhaving been raised a witness, i was taught to never refuse an assignment.
view everything as a "privilege from jehovah".
so naturally, wanting to be an elder was very important to me and to my family.

I wanted to be a CO. Life took over and both wife and I stopped pioneering after I was appointed an elder because we were tired of it. So that dream was gone... oh well
