Those who WERE or ARE Elders (Re: Molestation Coverup)

i'd like to hear from those who are currently elders or were formerly elders on your honest feelings about the charges brought against the society and their general policy in handling these matters.

do you think that the society handles child abuse accusations fairly?

or, do you think their policy is abusive?

The Dateline program exposing the abuse problem in the WT was what caused me to start questioning the org. I did research since I was(am) an elder back then and I feel that the WT tries to punish the pedophiles in their own system. They do not want it going outside of the judicial setting. The problem with this is that the elders are told not to inform anyone of the potential danger. In fact I am privy to a real situation in which a friend of mine was almost removed as an elder in his congregation because he informed an MS that a certain brother was indeed a pedophile and to watch him around kids. Yes that really happened.

The WT org is wrong, horribly wrong about this issue because as we all know the recidivism rates for pedophilia are pretty much 100%. To add to that is the fact that pedophilia is a crime. Crime should always be reported period. If the elders knew that someone confessed to murder I am fairly certain that they would be calling the police. Yes Barbara Anderson was right the whole time as was Bill Bowen and now the WT will have to pay. Let the lawsuits commence. The wtbs is repugnant for allowing this situation to develop. Terrible.

Does anyone know where, or what happened to Fred and April Fredean? They where our old circuit overseers in Chicago in the sixties and I was friends when I was at bethel with them.

i was raised in a city hall.

it was pretty evenly split.

i wasn't raised in a blacks vs. whites environment.

douche (sp?) bags....azzwholes. anyway you get the point. I agree it depended on the area but I stand by what I said, any racism shown was no more than anywhere else. The issue is that JWs claim to be passed that. 1 african american GB in 120 yrs... yeah right.

Not looked down upon. I think racial predjudice is no more prevelant in JWism than society as a whole.

That being said, they claim to be better than the evil "world" so they are still dou**e bags.

If the myriad of generation doctrine changes, the flip flopping of higher education, the df'ings, the whole blood fractions thing (you can eat ham, bread, cheese, and mustard sperately but you cant eat it as a sandwich) isnt making droves leave the org do you really think this stupid video will? Seriously?

so over the weekend i was in a cargroup for service, yes i still go out but i dont ring doorbells or knock i just go out to keep wife and other elders off my back, anyway the video came up and i said nothing about it but the other 3 people in the car ( a pioneer and 1 elder, 1 publisher) said that it was good.

yes you heard correctly good!

the pioneer even stated that the annimation was good and it is short enough to hold a young childs attention.

Yes I agree. I was just commenting on how unfortunate it is that most JWs wont get it and run away from the bs. I wish my wife would've had that reaction....its sad.

So here's the deal, most JWs wont care about how bad or manipulative the video is. Most will just say it is good like every other DC release. Nobody gets it, nobody cares.

This is the reaction that you will get from many if not most JWs so this whole "sparlock furor" online wont accomplish anything in the big picture of things. I think what's keeping JWs in is DF'ing. Fear of losing friends and family. So all these idiotic things that happen will go away and things will go back to status quo. They will shelve this just as most JWs shelve a lot of the crap that is distributed by the FDS and go on because they dont have "anywhere else to go.." as the WT stated yesterday. Thats not because most JWs think its the truth but because they dont want to be alone.

", i said "no" then he said "why not, you know we're near the end".

being held hostage to the Watchtower Society because of family ties is really the only way they have to keep people in the "Truth" after 100 yrs of inconsistencies and outright lies.

Never a more true statement. I bet this very fact accounts for 50% of the total JWs.

Why Do Introvert Elders Even Bother, What's Their Game?

something that has troubled me for some time, why do introvert personalities reach out for the office of overseer?.

this personality does not help with shepherding the flock (other brothers pick up their slack, their too shy for judicial committes), they are not upbuidling for the brothers and sisters (their long lost stuttering problem resurfaces when asked to call m.i.a.

congregation memebers) and they are useless for widows and orphans (i can't help little father-less davie, my online role playing games are all time consuming!

Is There Any Real Difference Between Elders & Priests?

i see very little except that priests wear black..

Yes, priest get college educated on how to listen, and offer advice and counsel. Elders get told to rely on holy spirit and tell people to read the bible and go to meetings and all your problems will be solved.
