even though i’m agnostic so will not commit to either intelligent design or chance, i love being part of the congregation for the close personal relationships.. there is such a great atmosphere inside the congregation it really is like a family and you don’t get this anywhere else.. a real friend is someone you can rely on when you are in need.

if things go wrong for you and you are going through a hard time you know real friends will be there for you.

as long as you didn’t bring it on yourself by going against gods law then you have to prove you are repentant first of course.. there is a lot of research now saying that good friends is essential for healthy and happiness.

I get what you are saying. I have been a PIMO for well over 10 years now and I stay in for my family. The times I have/do spend with SOME in the congregation are enjoyable as you describe. That being said, if any of them ever found out that I am PIMO not only would they shun me but my PIMI family as well. They will cut you off at the drop of a hat so to me that is not the definition of a real friendship or of the "christ-like love" that they claim to have for each other. If you still believe in that. Its a finely constructed fantasy born out of a cult.

So I do not think those fake friendships are good for your health, not in the least.

i find this to be the case, people in general are so not interested in religion that they really could care less about jws.

I find this to be the case, people in general are so not interested in religion that they really could care less about JWs. For example most people know that most holidays have no religious basis i.e. Christmas, Easter and they don't give a crap. Maybe for young children in school... maybe. But adults do not care one bit. What do you think?

too many are staying on zoom, missing face to face encouragement.

look for the elders to implement changes.. also people at the door are so receptive and glad to see us.

Have someone at Bethel figured out people are not donating enough when on zoom, it's bye bye zoom. Have they notice they get much more money from selling halls, they gonna keep zoom and continue the sell out......They seem too be focusing on the real estate market.

I agree. They purchased a large building in Long Island, NY rumored to be renovated into an assembly hall in the near future. Long Island has a decent resale value so no doubt this is an investment property.

There has been nothing in writing about discontinuing zoom or making assesments of publishers need to be on zoom. At least not here in the U.S

Perhaps the CO's were given a letter to assess and make comments/reccomendations during CO Visits. I am sure the reason the org went this route if they did was due to the fact that many Elders are on zoom for no apparent reason unless they have a part. I was told this by someone in a cong close to "the temple in Jerusalem"....Warwick

this implies that any jw had "real" love or knew what it was outside the wts definition.

many jws just perpetuate the type of love they were show in their congregation.

I believe that the over two-year coronavirus absence must have changed a lot of Witnesses..as they now have to learn all over again how to act around other JWs that they dislike.

Such a true statement! Harder to fake it now.....so difficult.

i have it on good authority from a friend living near warwick that many bethelites filed for covid-19 economic relief from the us govt.

he said that one bethelite actually told him that they were being instructed to file some sort of income, not sure of the logistics of that with the vow of poverty and all, but if they did that then they would qualify for economic relief.

basically getting thousands of dollars for free.

I could care less either way about the prisoners, they could save the money for when they are released and had to fend for themselves. But to hear my friend say that bethelites were bragging about all the free money to go on vacations later.... ew

You didn’t have to a job to get Covid money, just fill out a 1040 form. I sent my brother in Prison blank forms and all the inmates got Covid money.

Yes you are correct, I was mistaken about that. I guess the issue I have is that this was for economic relief, to help people's cost of living. Bethelites have these needs cared for already. In principle its really an abuse of the system.

In my experience, no-one is talking about this any more. There was a brief flurry of enquiry in a rather low-key way when the announcement was made, but it's all gone quiet.

I would agree with this. I think that there is more discussion and buzz in the Ex-JW community than the JW generally speaking. Eventually someone will divulge and I bet it is not even as sensationalist as we are making it out to be.

In my case no. It seems beyond some cliques and maybe one on one conversations this is not a subject for public conversation anymore. I am just curious what you are observing

JWs Still Attending on Zoom

another topic based on a conversation with a friend living near warwick (i talked to him over the weekend).

he said that cong's in and around bethel, including his, are slowly starting to see an uptick with people attending in person his cong is pretty much 75%+ in person.

however there are many that still use zoom as a fall back.

but if average numbers dropped too far down on a regular basis, they'd have to act as it would become obvious that congregations were shrinking and it would become "discouraging" to those who bother to show up.

According to my buddy thats what is kind of happening already.. so not sure what their next step is
