When did Theology Last add something to Human Knowledge?
by cofty into illustrate my question.... i am watching an episode of the australian tv program "q & a" on youtube.
the panel includes the brilliant laurence krauss, gay bishop gene robinson, the woefully ignorant and bigoted rev fred nile and a few others.. the early questions put gene robinson under the spotlight and to be fair he comes across as a loving, compassionate, intelligent and - in his own words - "fabulous" person.
by contrast the reverend nile is a caricature of everything that is dispicable and hateful about theism.. a self-righteous young man in the audience asks gene how he deals with the bible's condemnation of homosexuality.

Are you saying that a study of history and politics adds nothing to human knowledge?

'Theology has had to adapt to changing social mores.' 'Why is theology still being taught at respectable universtities'
my daughter has a degree in theology which i have mentioned on this site before maybe you read this in one of my posts. i know she has been taught by a variety of professors and lecturers with very different veiwpoints regarding God and Christianity. she has spent many hours at the british library and other libraries reading history and philosophy so as to understand the time period she is writing about and how this has influenced the politics of the day and is a new look at certain people in this time period.
i think there is something to be gained by understanding the past more clearly and studying theology has helped her to understand the viewpoionts of the people involved.

I have worked as an artist/illustrator for publishers and I knew of artwork that had things added for a laugh that you wouldn't notice at first.

In 1994 when I saw the light so to speak, I remember driving to work and seeing some witnesses I knew quite well and feeling I wanted to get out of the car and tell them they aren't separating sheep from goats it hasn't happened yet. I felt relieved but knew they wouldn't c it how I did and so I drove on.
I based my life decisions on the end coming before I ever got to the age I am now and it's not easy to alter it. I almost had a breakdown shortly after leaving the witnesses but i'm stronger now but at a cost I think.
Is Life Good For You At This Time? No. It's just life.

Watchtower Society Has Systemically, Methodically Over The Years, Caused All JWs Diabolically To Worship Watchtower Headquarters Leadership [or G.B.]!
by bjc2read in(of course, this will be "old news" to many of you...but, this is especially written for the "newbies" who may not know of the following.).
... i was just wondering .... .
i remember back when i was very active among the jehovah's witnesses, the watchtower society recommended a special procedure they used to do to put pressure upon bible studies of jehovah's witnesses by doing something they called: "directing attention to the organization.

i think if i was a witness i would think of John 6:45 where Jesus applies Isaiah 54 about people being taught by Jehovah and from this it would lead me to the spiritual freedom in 1919 when the remnant of spiritual Israel were freed from Babylonish captivity and later the Great Crowd joined them and this spiritual freedom this spiritual paradise is found is amongst Jehovah's Witnesses the organization
so i wouldn't consider directing people to the organization as worship of it
