besides the view that it is Gods organization that has changed things at times I think a witness accepts them as the faithful slave and needs to study witness and be baptized and in order to gain Gods approval support the anointed in the preaching. Which in my view is the same religion I was part of.

in this thread it mentions about unity even if someone doesn't agree and the teaching was wrong it was still Jehovah's organization. this was in 1954. (not that i am supporting the view) but i don't think it has changed.

to gain salvation as a witness you still have to do the same things. i think religion is defined as a particular system of faith and worship

I mean that there has been changes made, but it is still the same religion believing in the same God preaching the same message and doing the same things.
i think the resurrection hope really really messes up people.. .
at some funerals i have not seen a tear shed.. .
could grieving be interpreted as a lack of faith?.
ive never felt the need to cry at funerals even when it was a close relative.
i would have been sadder when i was a witness but i changed.
The two funerals that i have made the arrangements for didn't have any religious talks.
how many times did we hear that if we dont attend meetings we will leave the truth because satan will get ahold of us?
that always bothered me.
i thought, "if my faith isn't able to stand alone what good is it?
Blondie mentions hypocrisy.
Some elders missed meetings due to work. One was appointed as an elder and couldn't attend the meetings regularly due to his job. My father gave his good paying job up twice in his life so he could attend meetings.
Another relative who was poor gave his job to be able to attend the District Convention.

i don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?
