  he substratum of all JW teachings is that humans would bring only ruin if they try to rule themselves without taking God’s will into account. And when the ruination reaches its climax, God would replace the present kingdoms (the real ruler of which is the greed of those who use technology) with His Kingdom; hence JWs has the caption: “THE WATCHTOWER announcing God’s Kingdom.”

  All other teachings have only secondary and supportive role, hence change in them would not matter.

  I think it does matter as the good news as preached by Jehovah's Witnesses included the time limit of a generation. Those that saw the beginning would see the end. This did not occur and this was changed. My view is that the good news cannot be changed.

  Did you expect all non-Witnesses to die at Armageddon?

  apologies if this has been asked before, but i couldn't find a thread where the focus was specifically this yes-or-no question.

  reach back in your memories to when you were at the peak of your faith in the religion, and tell me honestly:.

  "did you, personally, believe that non-witnesses would die at armageddon, even if they hadn't gotten to hear the message at all?".

  'non-Witnesses' meaning those who are not baptized? no. that would be presumptous i think.

  Funeral for an atheist

  99% of all funerals that i have attended have been the wt version, where they preach about the resurrection into paradise and say little about the person who passed other than they were loyal to jah.

  the other 1% catholic for grandparents.. now that i consider myself an atheist, i got to wondering what do atheists plan for when they die?.

  if you are a non-believer what are your plans for when you die?

  i'm not an atheist but i had to make the arrangements for some funerals one was a humanist funeral the next one no one spoke just had music play it was nice and simple.

  i think the less said the better

  What are the Core Teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  recently someone asked me to define what core teachings have such a hold on jdubs that they have trouble breaking free.

  trying to single out the driving force that keeps them in the borg, this is what popped into my head:.

  obviously there are lots and lots of wacky things the jdubs teach/believe/pretend to believe.

  i think for me it was the two groups, the anointed. Matthew 25:40 (i think)

  What do you have to be thankful for?

  given the recent holiday, i can't help but reflect that this has been a very good year and my life is pretty damn good.

  there was a lot of hard work, but i get a sense that i am finally reaping the benefits of years of effort.. what do you have to be thankful for and has 2014 been a good year?.

  How did you feel when you got baptised? Seriously....

  so recently, several over-righteous ones in the cong were discussing "how amazing it felt when they got baptised".

  statements like "how awesome did it feel as you got raised back out of the water?!".

  or the classic "i felt so close to jehovah as i came out of the pool"!.

  What Made You Finally Wake Up?

  hello to all.

  i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .
