I find getting my haircut as bad as going to the dentist and so I don't go that often.
i'm also really, really late with finishing a job i'm doing. (about a year) and I find it difficult to do anything

What is truth?
by Heisenberg inwell, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.

just a little addition to my last post.
Here http://www.strictlygenteel.co.uk/booklets/look.html
I found the booklet that i believe was the first thing my parents studied when they became Jehovah's Witnesses. I do not have a copy of it myself. However on page 27 toward the end it says this,
Your safety and the whole future of yourself and your family depend on now studying the Bible, associating with the New World society of Jehovah's witnesses, dedicating yourself to your Creator, Jehovah God, and witnessing for him. Do not let the pursuit of material things or the cares of life rob you of this wonderful opportunity of life.
My parents I think believed this and did witness believing their safety and mine was connected to being a Witness. It was the 'truth'
When they first became Witnesses they were taught the Great Tribulation had started in 1914, when this changed they believed that 6000 years of a 7000 year creative day ended in 1975 and the generation that saw the establishment of the Messianic kingdom was well along in years and would not pass away before the Great Tribulation, that hadn't started in 1914, started. This was all the truth. I believe the generation teaching was part of the good news, that's why it was in the Awake magazine front cover. As I showed in my post earlier, a few pages back, how what Paul said regarding the 'good news' was applied to what Jehovah's Witnesses have preached and faith. The 'good news' should be the truth and not need to be changed.
My parents don't give the truth any thought now. They don't give anything any thought now.

Why didn't you?
Because i had faith in the good news that we preached. At the time I was also living at home and had been raised as a witness. My parents would not have been in favour of my further education which would have shown a lack of faith in the nearness of the end as, those i have been raised to view as, Christ's brothers were informing us was the case. My salvation, i believed, depended on doing good to Christ's brothers and the primary way i understood was assisting them in the life saving work of preaching the good news.
I think it is naive to say that an organization was responsible for the way your life turned out.
I think in explaining my choice and the reasons why I made the decisions I made is not a case of not taking responsibiity for them. I would be much more careful now in paying attention to anything from Jehovah's Witnesses and making decisions based on the information (spiritual food) recieved.
the word coercion springs to mind when i think of how i felt when I was a young witness. although i felt that it was the best way to pioneer and serve Jehovah i also felt that my doing so was important for me to survive Armageddon and although I have faith in God I now recognise that we are all different and we don't need to feel guilty for not being a pioneer/ministerial servant/elder or wanting to be one.

just my thoughts,
i think that the hebrew term for knowledge has a broader meaning than say it does in greek.
and i think that in isaiah when it says 'you are my witnesses' it has maybe a more personal meaning of how they the nation had witnessed God saving them and delivering them especially out of egypt in fulfilllment of his word.
maybe i think in 1925 the article on 'Birth of the Nation' and the understanding of the evidence for the establishment of the Messianic Kingdom in 1914. Which evidently was good news to be preached by those who witnessed this regarding God's Kingdom in fulfilllment of his word.
maybe from this perspective you could say they witnessed Jehovah.

3rd Gen DF'd finally writing
by AFreeBeliever ini've been reading many of the postings on this forum for a couplefew years, finally joined today.
i think reading cappytan, and others like that, compelled me to share, it seems i might have a bit of a different outcome than many i have read, perhaps it will be hopeful/helpful to someone.. i was a born-in, 3rd gen jw, my entire family (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and most all of my childhood friends) were in.
some dropped by the wayside as the years went on, but many stayed in, and if they didn't, they still acted/talked as if they believed it was "the truth" and it was their weaknesses/failings that made them stop attending.

And like David said in a psalm, even if my mother and father turn against me, I have a heavenly father.
that's a nice thought.
when i stopped attending the hall i had concern that i might lose that relationship with God i would imagine it is worse if a person is disfellowshipped.
i have spoken recently with a former disfellowshipped person and they explained how alone they felt.

Losing Faith
by cappytan ini've always been a "spiritual" person.
i've been an avid bible reader since as early as i can remember.
i read the bible cover to cover for the first time when i was about 17 years old and have read it at least twice more since then.

But, doubting these other details about my faith also makes my faith in those basic things have a shaky foundation as well.
An elder suggested to someone with doubts that maybe through their life they could see evidence of God's help, then he provided examples in his own life.

NEW LIGHT FROM SLO CIRCUIT OVERSEER "Warning, Blood on Doorposts", "The Couple who Missed One Meeting Died With Their Kids, Don't Miss Any!
by Trailer Park Pioneer insorry, i messed up before i could put the right title on this new light from our circuit overseer, his visit show's a great desperation in the organization's mindset, adding more anxiety and guilt to jws who already feel they don't measure up!.
hi, i attended the circuit overseers visit and got really angry because our c.o.
gave information coming from the governing body's chief apologists regarding "meeting attendance" and "the couple who missed one meeting and lost their entire family because they did not get the "411" when armageddon was coming!
