"Most women would prefer to be stay at home housewives. Women's lib did alot of damage to women!"
by purrpurr inthe above is a quote from a jw female relative.
this was in response to a discussion about the suffragette movement ( and the movie about it that's currently in cinemas).
she seemed to think that it would be so much better if women were just daughters/ wives/ mothers and didn't go out to work and have career's?

Which Spiritual belief system or non belief system is right for you?
by Giordano inwe have done this before but we have a fair number of newbie's on this site and some are struggling with the question about other belief systems and non belief.
where are you now in your own mind?
here's a quiz http://www.selectsmart.com/nontheism/ that is pretty accurate, at least in my case as to where i am at this point in my life.

What is the alternative to JW?
so assuming that there is a creator and he wrote the Bible, where have JWs gone wrong?
Is it possible that they are nearest to the truth than any other religions? But yes there are mistakes made.
For me the alternative was simply not joining in the preaching any more as I was not convinced of the message due to my reading the Watchtower. I attempted via the elders and writing to the Society to answer my questions but as I found them unable to I had no other choice but to quit.
For the sake of the peace of the congregation and my own peace of mind it was best for me not to attend the meetings any longer. I would have felt a hypocrite if I did not speak my mind to others if asked my views on things and my actions in staying a JW and raising the children as JW whilst not subscribing to what I consider one of the primary beliefs wasn't really an option. We had to make choices concerning what was best for our family with regard to work and education once we had stopped.
I still belief in God and Christianity and live my life to the best of my abilities in accord with my belief. I do not at this point believe that the JW are the closest to the truth as I do not support their preaching work.
(I suppose when you use the word the 'truth' I define that as the truth about the good news, being in the truth or having the truth)

by Joliette init was always boring, and i was afraid that i was gonna get attacked by a dog.
i actually almost got attacked by a rottweiler once.
i didnt get paid for it, nobody listened to us, i actually had guys make passes at me while i was out doing street corner, i was always afraid i would get grouped and raped.

I was a regular pioneer at times and I understood the field service was preaching the good news of God's kingdom.
At times I worked alone and sometimes in extreme heat or cold. There were times that I enjoyed, occasionally having a conversation with someone about the bible or working with the brothers and sisters in the field. Although many of the hours were boring with a lot of people not home or not interested.
I was never slow in ministry once I was counseled that I was working the blocks too fast and to slow down , I knew of some who moved very slowly
I was chased by a big dog once,I was faster fortunately.

Sex and Marriage
by nicolaou inmost religions indoctrinate a standard sexual 'morality' into their followers.
sex before marriage is wrong, gay sex is wrong, same sex marriage is wrong, masturbation is wrong.. let's not turn this into another religion bashing thread (too easy), i was wondering how much of that pre-packaged thinking you still hold to?.
i still value marriage, more than ever.

How Many JWs Really Believe Everything They Are Told?
by minimus ini think that 80% of jws do not truly believe in what they are taught .
the vast majority stay in because of family, friends, ignorance and a lack of caring about any of the facts regarding the "truth".
many people are lazy.

I think I would find some difficulty in defining the religion as things change and somethings I find a degree of ambiguity to them.
for many years I felt I did not understand the beliefs that well however I accepted the identity of the faithful and discreet slave class and therefore accepted the religion irrespective of whether I understood everything believing they were being used in the capacity of giving spiritual food at the proper time.
I would think the majority think something similar, I would hope.

I visited a few churches. I would probably choose Catholicism if I was to choose any.
my father had a bible study with a chap for several years many years ago and he came to the hall never baptized eventually he told my father he was going to become a Catholic and ended the study.

Which bible character do you hate the most?
by Bonsai inthe more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.
he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".
he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.
