The generation that saw 1914 have passed away. Gone. Dead
Couple of weeks ago someone told me they have a person in their congregation of nearly 110
hi guys , i know i was never a favorite here and haven't posted in awhile ... question .
what do you think of the new understanding of , " this generation " they seem to go in circles on this one big time , once 1914 generation was almost gone they said they didn't know what it meant and now in the new publication the generation includes the second generation after 1914 .... i agree they don't know what they are talking about and this is just another control move .
any comments ?.

some were humble, but their were a few pompous asses who thought they were gods gift to the org and acted like they were ceo's of a fortune 500 company...
I cant think of one i didn't like. My father who was an elder wasn't keen on one or two. Maybe it was different if you were an elder.
many 'scary' movies base their 'jumps' on a belief in the supernatural, demons etc.
since i have left that all behind, ther aren't many 'scary' movies that even make me uncomfortable let alone scared.
lol.
I never watched horror movies when I was a witness. Since I have left I have seen a few. Most make me laugh. Some I found boring. One or two I've enjoyed and found reasonable scary.
when you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.
I didn't do anything different. I went to see a careers advisor and he said I didn't need uni. I started a pension thankfully.
i was just thinking back to some parts i conducted.
when other publishers were involved in the part, its success often depended on how well rehearsed the participants were.
timing, proper interplay of dialogue, dramatic impact, etc.. as the one giving the part or as one drafted to do a demo, did your elders require rehearsals?.
in the early 70's we had a coordinator for the service meeting and anyone who had a part met at the hall after the book study on Tuesday to run through it. We went every week and we had a way to go not living in the congregation territory. I still had school the next day
is remaining ignorant about the society a choice?.
surely every witness has a moment in time when "something just doesn't seem right"?
perhaps a teaching, doctrine, an article, a talk, a news report about child abuse handling, or a jwdubdotorg broadcast, a video, a cartoon for the kids....you know....?.
I don't think they are ignorant, at least the ones I have spoken to. I think they are comfortable with what they are doing and I know two that have given thought to various things that are mentioned by those that leave.
I didn't suddenly find out about 1975 when I left or what had been taught in early publications. I purchased old publications from book fairs in the early 1970's and I wasn't comfortable in the congregation with several different things. But I never thought of leaving.
jws say they can go anywhere in the world and they " know" that they would be shown hospitality from their fellow brothers.
of all my years as a jw i found this wasn't the case.
i honestly believe that if i turned up at any of my fellow apostates on here house and said hi i'm chook can we have a coffee, the response would be how many sugars..

When I was young and moved to different locations and different congregations not all in the same country, I would say that we were shown hospitality in the various congregations. I wouldn't say that this produced lots of friends, I have one or two.
To have coffee at my house would depend on whether the dog likes you
while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.
The tsunami of 2004 was one of the key things that pushed me toward atheism.
Why did this and not someone getting stuck by lightning or another such incident, just the numbers or the suffering was worse?
can all indoctrination leave a person , or does it linger in background till death..
nah
someone said u always return to the religion you r born into

omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent
Maybe God is and isn't.
like shrodingers cat
if God is all knowing he knows wot it is to be omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent and not and you can only know if you are, maybe.
I have to admit i havent found a lot of porpoise to life other than groeing old
