i was raised from infancy. it was my mother that accepted a study with the witnesses, my father was very into politics and he wanted to meet them to show them they were wrong. he said he couldn't.

Question for those converted to JW as adults
by DaleRivers inwhy did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.
.
in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .

i haven't attended a kingdom hall in a while, i keep saying i'll go but never seem to find the time. having said that the hall was never really me. when i think back to my first experiences of going to the hall as a young child it was always 'oh my God not that again' sort of feeling for me. i found it very boring. didn't improve much in my teens. the only time i remember enjoying the meeting was once when i brought a workmate to the hall another time was when a brother (ex co or do) gave the sunday talk and i found it actually interesting and last time was when i had returned to the hall after a ten year break and wanted to hear something the circuit overseer was going to say about the spiritual paradise. (had to leave in the meeting but returned to hear his talk, unfortunately i can't remember what it was now but i remember agreeing with it.)
anyway in that period when i returned i sat there in the service meeting one evening and felt really bored and looked around and thought this could be forty years ago nothings changed.
i didn't really see any difference.

when I was a small kid Saturday and sunday were field service. Most times first door you knocked at my father would get into a discussion that lasted an hour. Often frozen hands and feet but you needs to smile at the end and offer an invitation to the Sunday meeting. If I didn't smile enough you got a telling off. Then it off to the long boring talk and watchtower. The joys of trying to remember something about the watchtower study maybe it was on the Daniel book. The Babylon book on a Tuesday night was another joy and so on
now there's cartoons and tv and shorter meetings less pioneer hours no bookstudy shorter assemblies what an improvement I think.

The Jehovah's Witness religion has gone for good !!!
by snare&racket ini am not sure how you all feel as we all left at different times for different reasons.... but this new bible seems to have put some final nails into a coffin that was once my jw life.
the religion is so far and so different to the religion i grew up in that it has become something i feel no affiliation with anymore, no bond, no shared ideas or even sentimental views.
different teachings on when the end is coming.

I understood that the preaching of the good news of the kingdom spoke of in matT 24:14 was the good news of the establishment of Gods kingdom in 1914 with the benefits it would bring with in the generation that saw the sign in preaching this on a world wide scale something that no other religion is doing they were fulfilling the scripture
this I believe is was a unique teaching that is fundamentally at the heart of the religion
