i come here to learn, but i also come here because it feels like a private club and i'm privy to be a member of the "in" crowd.
it's a great place to socialize.
does anyone else feel that they are a member of a special "club" when they come here, that only some people in this world will understand the jw world?.
I really don't know.
I've spent some time recently reviewing some of my old posts and even though Ive not been a witness for some years it still feels sort of alien, weird, to have posted some of the things I have.
I find it irritates me that I've felt a need to. It irritates me that I've had to defend my position when ive spoken to elders. It goes against the grain for me.
as hillary clinton might say, what difference does it make???.
even if god's kingdom was established in 1914, why is that such a big deal?
other than unprovable actions in heaven, what can jws say is the significance of it all...with a straight face?.

been going back in forth with my mom (who is a longtime pioneer and dyed-in-the-wool jw) about the term apostate.
she has labeled me one because of my fading and because i stopped attending meetings a few years ago.
i told her that i refuse to accept the term apostate because its a lazy way for the wts to not deal with dissenters and address why people are leaving this organization in droves.

'Jehovah's Witnesses have not set out to introduce new doctrines, a new way of worship, a new religion'
I believed they were true christians and i baptised as a christian and still believe in christianity.
In the same book on page 12/13
'So a witness relates facts from direct personal knowledge, or he proclaims views or truths of which he is convinced.'
i am no longer convinced enough regarding the events of 1914 to preach, witnessing about it but i haven't abandoned my religion.

i dont believe I am an apostate. To be a witness one must be certain sure. Due to certain changes in teachings I am no longer feel convinced and there fore could not be a witness. I didn't make the changes that left me uncertain.
so what have been your experiences with sleep paralysis?
any connection to astral projection?
this has interested me recently as i used to have sleep paralysis quite often years ago.

People in my dreams can surprise me by things they say - for instance asking me a question to which I do not know the answer - and then they tell me the answer (but how can that be if everything is generated in my own brain?).
i had similar, thought it was strange.

my brother had sleep paralysis a few times i've had a couple of lucid dreams.
why did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.

in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .
i was raised from infancy. it was my mother that accepted a study with the witnesses, my father was very into politics and he wanted to meet them to show them they were wrong. he said he couldn't.
me i try my best but my spelling is bad and some times i get missunerstood...any funny exsperiences?.

But somtimes you walk away with a bargain...i have found found some great bargains of wisdom/ knowledge here. But more important occassionaly some one to respect.

what is the major difference?.

i haven't attended a kingdom hall in a while, i keep saying i'll go but never seem to find the time. having said that the hall was never really me. when i think back to my first experiences of going to the hall as a young child it was always 'oh my God not that again' sort of feeling for me. i found it very boring. didn't improve much in my teens. the only time i remember enjoying the meeting was once when i brought a workmate to the hall another time was when a brother (ex co or do) gave the sunday talk and i found it actually interesting and last time was when i had returned to the hall after a ten year break and wanted to hear something the circuit overseer was going to say about the spiritual paradise. (had to leave in the meeting but returned to hear his talk, unfortunately i can't remember what it was now but i remember agreeing with it.)
anyway in that period when i returned i sat there in the service meeting one evening and felt really bored and looked around and thought this could be forty years ago nothings changed.
i didn't really see any difference.
